    burger with provolone and salad.
    April L.

This place is an absolute gem! In my opinion their burgers are the best in New Jersey! No doubt about it and I've had them all at the Jersey Shore. Barnacle Bills, Grand Tavern, etc, This is my second time visiting and I felt compelled to write this review. The burgers are 10iz, the meat is so flavorful and juicy and they actually cook the burger the temperature you request. Nope, no overcooked burgers here. Pure perfection! You get your choice of fries or salad and let me tell you the sweet potato fries are just heavenly. Even the side salad with balsamic is delicious. It's not a fancy place more of a bar setting with some outside tables but the food and service are too notch. Our server Erin was great. Very attentive and friendly. Dan, the bartender, was great as well. I highly recommend Chubby Pickles especially their burgers. Trust me you need to try it. I live in Belmar and travel to Highlands because their burgers are The Best.

Ok, so it starts with the fun name and go!!! We had Shwarma Wings ... WOW! Triple fried and crispy! And their Bloody Marys are made from a home-made mix and are EXCELLENT! The bartenders are super friendly and engaging. We loved it and can't wait to go back!

One of my favorite local watering holes. Featured on Diners Drive Ins and Dives. This is a dive bar in Highlands NJ that's dank but comfy with a friendly crowd and a fun funky menu. They make tasty scratch dishes with fun appetizers and epic burgers. There's a few entrees and even a few healthy choices. This is the avocado toast burger. 10oz hand formed Patty with chipotle aioli house pico, Jack cheese on butter garlic Texas toast. The fries are just fantastic!!! I couldn't finish it but I did take about half of the behemoth burger home. Great staff and fun crowd you'll find a mixed crowd of young and old but all good people all the time. Live music and events year round. They were my pick in last years Town Bar Crawl and margarita contest. I gave 5 stars because this place is exactly what it should be. Fun friendly welcoming and entertaining!!! Great menu and probably the best fries you've ever had!!!

Wow what a great dive bar. The food was sooo good. The tater tots were so crispy with yummy bacon. The chicken sandwich was also so flavorful with the orange and bre cheese. The service was great will definitely be coming back.

Best Dive Bar in the Highlands area. Great wings and I'm a sucker for tots. Service was great.

Taco Tuesday! The best mahi taco on the planet! Three huge tacos... maybe a bit too much for one person but perfect amount to share with two people when sharing dishes. Open Mic Nights are very well run and supported. Professional PA system. Fabulous stage that comes with a full backline. Amazing talents featuring more the semi pro level to the top level local recording artist from the area. Very pleasant atmosphere and a great local hangout. Service is hospitable and quick. Great cheery bartenders. Lots of parking.

This place was such a pleasant surprise! It looks very small and quaint from the outside, but has an awesome chill vibe on the inside. The staff was super friendly and during covid, everything felt super safe. The seating was outdoors but there were umbrellas over us which protected us from the sun! My friend and I ordered some beers and got the fried pickles and fried mac and cheese bites - they were SO good and came out piping hot. We could definitely tell that they were freshly fried! Sooo delicious and satisfying. Second time I came here, I had their shrimp tacos which were also very delish! Chubby Pickle is super awesome and I'll definitely be back ASAP.

Caught immediately after shedding, the entire crab can be eaten...shell and all. They offer an intensely sweet, rich flavor and a delicate, crispy texture when cooked). Bahr's Landing prepares this sautéed crab with capers, mushrooms, lemon & butter, mashed potatoes and vegetables. My go-to appetizer is always the Grilled Cauliflower (Topped with tomato pesto, quinoa, and wild rice blend). The crispness of the cauliflower....brushed through the surrounding ingredients.....makes this the perfect starter. Aside from enjoying the mouth-watering food, you'll also feel as if you're dining on a ship, have great views of the pier, water, and the bridge leading into Sandy Hook Beach. Don't forget to visit their gift shop and view all of the maritime decor and beautiful woodwork.

Most recently, my older daughter, after college, married a young man from Long Island and moved there. My son-in-law and I have a friendly banter regarding who has the better seafood. They visited for the week and prior to them heading back to LI, I recommended going out to Bahrs, before they get on the parkway...easy and to prove my point, who has the better seafood...well, needless to say...my point was mute. First, let me set the stage, it's 4 adults and 3 children (7,5,3)....ordered steamers, mug of NE chowder, calamari, Caesar salad, linguine w/clam, kids cheese burger, pasta with butter, side of meatballs, fried founder and a Lava cake (baby girls bday-they were out of) replace it with a couple of scoops of ice cream...with a candle (best part). Mug of Chowder- $13 came out cold Caesar Salad- $15 couple of pieces of romaine, wishbone is a better dressing Linguine w/clam- $29 sauce was so think, uneatable (gave enough clams) still couldn't eat it Calamari- $17, only rings and rubbery, Costco has better frozen Kids cheeseburgers- $14.50 each, 4oz burgers It was a slider at best...no taste Pasta with butter- $14.50 dry, forgot the butter Steamers- $27....sandy and rubbery What has happened to this place...staff is summer help...inexperienced...it's not the fault of the help, it's the fault of the owners and management. For the record, we didn't complain to our waitress..it's not her fault. We tip her 25%, (my children worked locally, during the summers, not at Bahrs) Bill was over $300 with drinks...I'd rather spend that where I can get quality. There are many more options...guessing location plays a part...but, I'm a local and not a tourist. Sorry Bahrs, not returning......

It always looked like such a cool place, and I had been really interested in checking it out. I finally made it there the other day, after a brief afternoon at a local beach. When we arrived around 6:30 pm on that Friday evening, we could see that the back deck was very full and that the parking lot was also close to capacity. We were able to, thankfully, grab a spot and walked over to the restaurant, climbing the stairs to the second floor where we met the hostess. We were told that the wait for outdoor seating was 40-minutes, while indoors was 30-minutes. Glancing around, the inside dining room was casual and nautically-themed. The tables and bar were bustling. The balcony was just as busy, but offered live music, so we determined that it would be worth waiting the additional time and added our name to the list. In the meantime, we decided to hang by the outdoor bar but were unable find a spot. Thankfully, a duo was vacating one of the few high-top tables in the bar section, which were first-come, first-serve. We grabbed that table and settled in to watch the beautiful sunset over the boats docked in the harbor. The staff and the few patrons we encountered during our visit were all very friendly, which only emphasized the laidback vibe of the waterside venue. The food, however, was mediocre at best. When our dinner was delivered, we did not receive any silverware, so we had to grab that from the bar, which was also from where we had placed our order. I had requested the Pan-Seared Salmon, which was well-cooked and served with thin stalks of asparagus, dry jasmine rice, and a huge amount of buttery garlic herb sauce. It made sense that the fish was served in a bowl, because there was so much greasy butter that it would have leaked all over if it was on a flat plate. Thankfully, the bartender had given me a few side plates, so I was able to move my food out of the oily bowl. My friend also had some issues with her meal. Her cup of New England Clam Chowder was flavorful, but watery and mostly broth. Her Fried Flounder Sandwich was heavily breaded and served with an unripe tomato and mushy, oily fries. From a beverage perspective, they had surprisingly interesting cocktails, but I was thrilled to see my favorite beer, Kane Head High, on tap. We simply loved the view, live acoustic tunes from P.D. Brody, and the overall relaxing atmosphere. However, we felt that the food could have been better executed. The menu offered all kinds of seafood and higher-end bar food, but the preparation left something to be desired.

We ordered the fish tacos, birria tacos, and kettle-style potato chips--and every plate came out looking as good as it tasted. The fish tacos were beautifully assembled, piled high with crisp, fresh slaw that added the perfect crunch to the tender, flaky fish underneath. Light, clean, and balanced. The birria tacos were the star of the table. Rich, deeply seasoned meat tucked into perfectly griddled shells, served with a savory dipping broth that takes each bite to another level. Messy in the best way possible--and completely worth it. Even the kettle-style potato chips stood out. Thick-cut, golden, and topped with just the right amount of flavor to make them more than just a side--they held their own next to the tacos. The overall experience ties everything together: polished yet relaxed atmosphere, attentive service, and dishes that clearly have intention behind them. It's the kind of place where you can tell care is put into both the food and the experience. Atlantic House isn't just a good meal--it's a spot you'll want to come back to, and one I'd recommend without hesitation.

Well, I was finally able to check it out recently with a friend, and we both immediately fell in love with the place. The bar was at the end of a long parking lot and offered several different areas. There was a tented space with picnic tables, a sand-covered lagoon with couches and firepits, a pier with loads of dining tables, a small space for their frequent live music, a giant bar, and many other lounge chairs scattered about. The bar offered a variety of beers, wines, cocktails, and even mocktails. My Aperol Spritz was robust and well-balanced. We also ordered food from Cuts & Catch, which was a food truck and grill near the entrance to the bar. Their menu supposedly changes often, but they focus on both surf and turf items. When we arrived around 7:30 pm on a Saturday evening, a majority of the menu was already sold out. In some ways, that helped ease the selection process, but it also meant that a few of the things that had appealed to us (chicken kebabs, for instance) were no longer an option. We each ended up getting an order of the Fried Fish Tacos and shared a Shrimp Cocktail. The tacos were served in portions of three. The small corn tortillas were wrapped around large pieces of crispy, flaky fish tenders and a cabbage slaw. We both thought they looked basic, but they tasted phenomenal! The raw bar dish included five jumbo shrimp with a side of cocktail sauce. The shellfish were plumb and very fresh. We were still a bit hungry after these items, especially since we had spent the day at the beach, so we also shared an order of fries for the ride home; the thin, crisp fries were perfectly salted and simply delicious. The live music and views of the sunsetting over the marina made for a lovely atmosphere, and the excellent food and drinks made the experience that much better. We cannot wait to return!
