I've always enjoyed Tommy's Tavern at the Sea Bright location since it has a lovely outdoor space in the back. Ambiance is hip and lively. This time around we were disappointed with some service issues and hence the 3 stars instead of 4. We waited an extended period of time for our entrees. The waiter apologized for the slow kitchen but that didn't change the fact. Then our orders came out with some minor errors. I chose to not complain and just try to enjoy our dinner. My husband was not thrilled with his burger. This place is sweet. What a cool vibe. Wish I took a pic but they have a really cool outdoor patio area to eat and play games right along the water. It's a well oiled machine. Delicious food, welcoming staff and great atmosphere! Stopped in here for a quick lunch and was not disappointed. I got the sushi sandwich and it was fresh, delicious, and filling. My fiancee got the steak sandwich which was flavorful and cooked nicely. We also shared the loaded potato soup which was cheesy and comforting. Service was exceptional. I went there for Happy hour and literally told my bartender to use my Tommy points for a free app I earned towards the half and half firecracker I ordered. I asked her if they took the the app off she said yes but when I check my check later on that night they only took off the Happy Hour app of chicken wings off and not what I asked for. So either the bartender lied to me or the manager lied to her saying she took off the app I wanted off. Either way someone is lying. I go here everytime I come to the beach and never had a bad experience till this. Then when I called about it days later I talked to a manager whose first name started with a D. I spent Sunday on the New Jersey shore in Sea Bright walking the beaches, exploring the nearby Light House and ultimately stopping in at Tommy's Tavern & Tap. The tavern dates back to the 1800's when it was once both a tavern and a boarding house. In 2014 Tommy & Yvette purchased the property and begin restoring it which included tearing it back to expose the original brick walls. After the renovation Tommy's Tavern and Tap has a rustic industrial appearance. My intention was to watch some football, engage in conversation and have a drink or two. Tommy's offers 24 rotating beers and a specialty Whiskey Bar, a backyard on the Shrewsbury river, and cornhole. Sea Bright is a 45 minute drive to my home so I skipped the Whiskey Bar and headed to a bar stool where I ordered one of their many craft beers. I also found some bar stool conversation. From 12-4pm, Tommy's offers specials on bar food like wings, personal pizzas and beer and wines. I'm not a fan of bar food so I did not order anything. This place is always packed and I know why now! Had to wait about 35 minutes for a table which is expected at this place because it is always packed. When you sit you get a huge wet wipe to clean off (I like that for some reason). Ordered the nachos as an app and they were great with the chicken. Chicken was definitely seasoned appropriately. Three of ordered pizza that was coal fired and very yummy. If you are a pizza snob, like me, you have to be in the mood for it because it is a different taste compared to typical Jersey joints! We really like this Tommy's in Sea Bright. We were not crazy about our meals this past time, but I would go back. I had the brussel sprouts with sauce on side and a hamburger. My husband and friend's husband had the brisket sandwich. My friend had the turkey burger. My brussel sprouts were undercooked and my hamburger was average. The worst experience in a restaurant I have ever had. Received an appetizer and a child's meal waited an hour to then receive a small cold pizza that was brought out by a runner not even a waitress to tell that the food was cold. Then had to get a manager involved because the other two adult meals didn't show up at all. She didn't want to speak to me. I had to stand in front of their kitchen to make her talk to me she apologized and told me she would take care of the bill. We waited another 30 minutes for the two adult missing meals and have to ask them to pack them up to go. Her idea of taking care of the bill was to comp the two meals that never came still charging us for the cold pizza we couldn't eat. Had we wanted to go home and re-cook our food we could've ordered takeout they even had the audacity to charge me for a refill on a child's sprite that we only needed because we were stuck there for an hour and a half with no food. More upsetting than the fact that we were not able to eat was the manager's attitude, as if this was a normal occurrence and she couldn't understand why we would not want to pay to have to eat at home. read more

My family and I absolutely love this restaurant. This is our go-to restaurant for going to the beach. Everyone is always so nice here. The food is always amazing. The prices are also great. The food portions are large that they fill you up. We decided to get the California rolls . Wow, they were very fresh and amazing. I absolutely loved them. We also received the fired calamari, which was very delicious it came with red sauce and garlic aloi, which was very delicious. This time, I decided to get the penna al vodka with grilled chicken. I wasn't a fan of it. It was lacking flavor. I had to put cheese and garlic on it to have some type of flavor. It was definitely missing something. I had not been to Tommy's in quite some time so I was looking forward to having lunch there with some friends. I must say I was a bit disappointed with the food. I first ordered some guacamole with chips figuring you can't go wrong, but the amount of guacamole they gave was skimpy although it tasted fine. My lunch entrée was a mahi-mahi sandwich. Sandwich was soggy, and I really couldn't eat it because the mahi-mahi kept falling out of the bun. I think they need to rethink the dish. The service is itself was excellent. I had a server named Jenna, who was personable, professional, and all round excellent. The ambience was fine except it was very dark so I had a bit of an issue seeing because I only have one eye. I don't have any plans on going back anytime soon, but if I did, I would definitely like to drive some other dishes. read more

I came here on Friday night and I have to say this location is absolutely gorgeous!!!!! I love the outdoor patio with the lake view. They also offer cornhole to play as you wait, and seating by the water. There's also a bar outside. The staff was very nice. The patio is also an awesome view for the sea bright fireworks!!! We had to wait 40 mins for our table we were nervous we were going to miss the fireworks but we ended up getting lucky!!! If you want to see the 9pm fireworks at sea bright go to Tommy's patio!!! I was really impressed with the Tommy's that recently opened in Mount Laurel, NJ; my work team (18 people) went there for lunch and everyone raved about the food. I was particularly impressed with the buffalo chicken wrap I had there and was hoping for a repeat of the overall great experience. But this location fell short in the food department: Our orders were taken promptly but 15-20 minutes passed before our food arrived, which was baffling considering we'd arrived well before the crowd. I'd specifically requested extra-crispy fries, but the ones I received were exactly the same as everyone else's and tepid upon arrival. Fortunately they were replaced promptly with a piping-hot batch after I informed our server of the problem. My buffalo chicken salad, ordered in a wrap was bountiful and tasty, but the chicken was really, really crispy and dry, so much so that I actually broke a molar eating it! My wife enjoyed her burger and as it was huge, I had a bite, and I have to say I was really just average. Her brother and sister in law seemed to enjoy their main courses but nobody raved about anything, and they definitely would if the food had warranted it. The desserts, however, were a big hit; the Lava Cake was very moist and came with ample amounts of both ice- and whipped cream. Also the Key Lime pie was a standout. The server brought out the pizza and walked away, but didn't come back with plates. I had to ask a busboy for plates. Then the server showed up eventually with the rest of the food. Someone from the back dragged two full garbage cans full of trash from the back of the dining room, through the dining room and out the front. I've never been to a restaurant where staff dragged loaded trash through the dining room as people ate. Eventually we asked for the check, server came with a box to take our food and said he'd be right back with the check. After about ten minutes he came back and I told him "Bring this right back" when I handed him my card. Service sucked, it was warm inside, no ice, food was mediocre- not going back. Started with sushi pizza (sushi grade tuna, jalapeño, crunchy onions and drizzled with spicy mayo and that sweet brown sauce that comes with sushi. Absolutely delicious! Then I had an impossible burger with cheese and a side salad. So good and hit the spot. My partner in crime had a Turkey Gobbler which looked like a Thanksgiving explosion on his plate.
