The Chuck is the best restaurant in Spread Eagle! We've been visiting for 20+ years and they haven't failed to deliver great Food, fast service and stellar waitstaff and chefs. Friday fish fry is the best walleye you'll ever sink your teeth into. Burgers are also good. It's the place to meet great people from the north woods. You will wait on Friday's, be patient and have a highball. read more

Honestly wouldn't be a place I would visit unless hungover and in the mood for greasy food... Which in my case worked in my favor... lol! If this is your case scenario then I would definitely recommend. Lots of deep fried appetizers that were fried to perfection! I had the deep fried Mac n cheese and it was incredible! Burgers were your typical up north fried buns with a greasy patty but definitely hit the spot! The bar itself was your rustic up north tattered bar. Just drove into town, helping a hometowner return home. The most scrumptious bacon bleu cheese burger! Best I've had since Texas. Abe, our Metallica shirt clad bartender, gave us a warm welcome and excellent service. We came late and post season, but I hear the place can get insanely packed. The story of Abe's shirt...his wife got him the shirt from a concert she was able to attend, but Abe could not. I'm sure the concert was awesome. We have been going there for over 30 years, tonight Friday 4:15 pm they were crowed, we ordered dinner to go, we were going to sit outside at the picnic table, and hour and 10 minutes later the bartender brings us our order, my husband said it's been sitting there for 20 minutes, she got snippy and said no one told her, she took our order! Ist of all, GREAT atmosphere. If you want that lodge style feel with a bar, this is it. Old log cabin, nice seating. We were greeted swiftly, had time to view menu and ordered. Typical menu, burgers, fries. Onion rings, etc. My son and I got burgers, very juicy and cooked well. Lots of ingredients, definitely a napkin festival or knife and fork. Very tasty meat. The wife had a delicious smothered chicken sandwich. Excellent but did use processed Velveeta style swiss cheese. If they used real swiss ,the sandwich is a "10". Huge basket of fries more than enough for 3 people. Probably the best burgers we've had since we moved up North. We will definitely go back. Prices are reasonable too!! Good service. read more

Unless you're a 'regular', prepare to be ignored. Having just bought a place up here, we are trying a lot of the local restaurants, to see what they all have to offer. Went in on a Wednesday night, 630pm. Not a prime night during prime hours. Couple tables with customers, nowhere near busy. 5 minutes after siting, the waitress finally came around. First time here, took us a bit to figure out what to order. A blue cheese burger, something they call a Messy Jessie, two orders of fries, and a kids chicken tender. Waited around an hour for the food to get to the table. And the food really wasn't worth the wait. The Blue cheese had an odd taste, the Messy Jessie wasn't made right. The beer battered fries were a soggy, tasteless mess. The regular fries were better. Had to go to the bar to get our drinks refilled, and still had to wait, because the waitress disappeared, the bartender disappeared, it was basically a free for all. But, when the locals / regulars showed up, or needed something, they were treated kindly and quick, while the rest of us "outsiders" were basically ignored and left to our devices. I can't really fault the the waitress, she was new, like freshiy hired and first night serving new. Poor thing dropped a tray of food on other customers and the floor. But, the other disappearing "waitress", bartender were short when they did engage with you, or just not around to be seen. So, if you want good service, buy a place close by, go here a few times a week for months in end, and maybe you'll get good service. Otherwise, I would just keep driving. read more

Well, first of all, I don't know how it got into the "chinese" category, but whatever. I have been reluctant to post a review on the restaurant, because I see it as my secret hideaway. But as far as the roadside bar food, this is as good as it gets. It is almost gourmet. Everything I have gotten there is just so good. From the mexican soup and tacos on Wednesdays, to the grilled salmon on Fridays. The wraps are wonderful as well. The bloody marys are some of the best I have found in the area. I don't leave many reviews but this one deserves it! Walking up to the place it has a smell that you just know your about to get good food. It reminded me of a place back home with some of the best burgers I have ever had. That being said these were better! We got the pickles, and the trail blazer both amazing. My kiddos got a cheeseburger and the hot dog again they didn't disappoint. My burger was the whistle stop and I loved it. This place is totally worth the short drive outside of Iron Mountain. The best part? The prices are super reasonable. This place is one you shouldn't miss. I would give it more stars if possible!!!! read more

The location of this place on the yelp map is wrong same with the subway and Dina Mia's, so I wish I could write a review of yelp but anyways I love the chuck wagon!! Their hotdogs are huge!! Haha and their fries are great as well. Their also one of the only restaurants north of the Mason-Dixon Line that actually has MTN. DEW! Their food is always cooked through and delicious. Don't go on a Friday night during the summer unless you are getting take out because the place is packed and you will have at least a 15 min wait for seats and then your food wait will probably match or exceed your table wait time. On not so busy days I really recommend it! The interior design is full of mounted wild life that just captures the eye and gives very good conversation starters! read more

What a wonderful first day of my 3-day weekend!! Did some back roads which were superb and ended up at the Chuckwagon in Spread Eagle WI. They always had the BESTEST ever burgers. I have been bragging them up for a long time. We went for the first time today and they had the flower shaped preformed burger with black lines on it. The burger was mediocre at best. So sad....I would rather pay a bit more and have the real thing they used to serve. read more
