Wow. What a gluten free Diamond. Our server Macy was awesome!! I wish this place was in Grand Rapids I would come at least once a week! So yummy!

    Voodoo ranger IPA

Ok 1st visit here so was not sure what to expect! Would love to have more imports for choices on beer but the local IPA voodoo ranger was decent and hoppy. French onion was good bread was little soggy maybe bake it prior to adding to the soup but good. Curry muscles were really good but was missing something, but over all was cooked properly and decent flavor. Mediterranean salad, lacked a little earthiness to the mixed greens but fresher than most places, suggest black olives, red onion and arugula for more balance, also add Greek dressing to the salad and keep the tadziki sauce for the lamb with little less water. The lamb was slightly drier but the fact that it was lamb was a plus maybe brine it more and drain before serving to keep the dryness to a minimum! But over all we liked. Service sorry forgot her name but was blond and one of the better servers we've had in awhile! Also front of house were on top of it so good work, and yes back did good to get the food out on time being it was full. Ambiance was like a better bar and grill so was over all good experience. Price was a little higher than was expected but was worth it with the great service we got.

    9.7/10 bloody marry! WOW

The ambience to the restaurant was nice and it felt clean and updated inside. I can't recall the exact price of everything, but I do recall that everything was priced as I would expect. Definitely not overpriced and everything was in line with the average rate. All the food was great. The cheeseburger was great including the bun. Sometimes you don't do so well with those. Someone else got macaroni and cheese which was awesome. I actually was a little surprised that it tasted so good because that is an always so great and restaurants. The pizza got great reviews by people. And a few other males did well. The couscous meal was ok. Now for the people. I will acknowledge that finding help these days is very difficult post pandemic. There was a younger teenage girl working as the hostess. While she may be young, somebody really does need to train her on customer service. She initially told us that they were waiting for two table tops of 16 even though the two tables of 16 had already been seated. She told us that we would not be able to eat for an hour but we cannot get a table for another hour and a half. Obviously this doesn't make any sense. You have to have a table 1st and then you can eat. She told us it would take an hour and a half for the six of us to be seated even though there were plenty of tables open. The thing that makes this bad, is even if she was totally mistaken, and totally wrong, she was very rude the entire time. There was no smile, her tone of voice was pretty crabby, and she definitely did not make you feel like she was going to do anything to try to make it work for you. She seemed somewhat grouchy and irritated that you were coming in to eat. I would have no issue if she had said this and clearly been wrong, but her tone of voice and everything about her customer service was wrong. She did not appear friendly and definitely did not smile or look like she was trying to accommodate. She presented like a sulky teenagers. After giving a few solutions to the hostess of how we could use one of the several open tables available, she finally figured out how we could be seated immediately since there were so many tables open. We ended up being served by Thale, Who is a total gem. She saved the meal. The server was not only nice, polite, and friendly, she was humble and made you feel welcome. A far cry from the hostess a few feet away. The server was on top of her game, refilling drinks, and stayed very on top of our meal to make sure that we had everything we needed. She was charming and made the meal awesome. I would definitely come here again and I would hope that somebody in management considers talking to their hostess about how to provide better customer service. Other than that, everything else was great. The server should be acknowledged for her friendly and outgoing attitude. The food is great so nice job to the cooks on the line.

If that was any indication to what the rest of the meal was like we should've left then. So we came in for a Friday Fish Fry. We ordered two Walleye's and one Perch Fish Fry. And to say that our fish was burnt is understatement. Please see photos of the madness. We immediately asked for the entree's to be recooked. They brought out our fish a second time and at least they didn't look burnt but there is a reason. They were undercooked. Not completely raw but undercooked. At this point just don't serve any more Fish. You obviously can't prepare it correctly. The manager explained "that it looks dark because of the spices in the batter". Cause that's a reason why food looks and tastes burnt. We paid, left a tip and went to another restaurant in Iron Mountain to wash away the taste of what we just experienced. I know this resort is up for sale and all I can say is to the new owner willing to pay the $4million price tag. Please focus on this restaurant and kitchen experience immediately.

There are a few more options for pasties here, including chicken and broccoli, and dessert flavors. Their beef pasty is different than all the other pasties we tried, as they use flank steak. As is traditional, potatoes, onions, and rutabaga were the other ingredients. This was the first pasty I tried where I could see the onions, so I picked them out when I came across them (my kryptonite). The steak was a little chewy, and the seasoning was almost undetectable. Also, the pastry, although well baked, fell apart after a few bites. To be fair, though, we waited probably a good 30-45 minutes to eat it. This wasn't my favorite pasty, but I wouldn't mind returning to try a chicken and broccoli and a dessert one. Maybe on my next trip up north. 21/2025

My grandmother taught me to make pasties like she did for her dad. Jean Kay's pasties are out of this world. Flakey crusts, tasty ingredients inside, and made with Iron Mountain pride and love. I ate the breakfast bacon and egg pasty and bought chicken and broccoli. I bought the partially cooked/frozen because this place sells out quickly. I traveled to Chicago with the pasties two weeks later and they were as good as made that day. One pastie fed two of us. I guess it is all about your appetite. The pasties can be purchased cooked or partially frozen. Both are equally great!! If you are driving near Iron Mountain, you must stop and purchase the pasties! Have fun deciding which to purchase.

My dad said it felt like you were walking into someone's home the way she treated us. It was steadily busy, but she was attentive and so kind. All of us enjoyed our food, which was also reasonably priced. My mom and I got the Miner Meal, and it was perfect. The original pasty (just your classic meat, potato and option for rutabaga), a side of slaw, a drink and cookie. I grew up eating pasties, and it was a really solid one. It's all about the crust for me, and they nailed it. Plus, the option of 8oz was just right! And the slaw was really yummy too. A very refreshing side for a heavy pasty. My dad got the pasty mac - no clue it was even a thing (and maybe it isn't anywhere else), and he loved it! Kids got pepperoni pizza pasty and chicken tenders and fries - everything was a hit. My dad tasted the pizza pasty too and said it was delicious. Only the kids ate the tenders and fries - nothing special there, but they were happy with them. Then they each got a cup of Superman ice cream, and we all know you can't go wrong there. Overall, a really great experience! We'd totally come back and would recommend to anyone looking for some classic and tasty yooper food close to the iron mine!!
