Top tier local eatery. We had lunch on a weekday. Be sure to check their hours and their menu because it changes with availability. Service was slow, but very kind and very efficient. We enjoyed the food even though we were all in very depressed moods. Ambiance was very much like the diner from Gilmore Girls. Chicken and waffles was generous portions. Salad was fresh ingredients. They made accommodations for our healthy picky eater on the chicken sandwich. read more

Used to eat here when it was Fobs. We stopped in for lunch and enjoyed it. Had a burger and fries...both were excellent. Service was a little slow but considering the customer to wait staff ratio, was better than we expected. We'll be back for sure. read more

We were visiting Crystal Falls for a few days and stopped in before heading back down to GB. They were really busy but the waitress (maybe the owner) was really attentive and friendly. She kept apologizing for the wait but it wasn't too bad. I had their Loco Moco(?) breakfast and it was DELICIOUS. Would definitely come back when were are back up in Crystal Falls. read more

I really liked the menu that New Leaf had developed. Everything that I tried, as well as friends and family, was always good and the portions were very generous. Since the switch to Crystal Falls Diner, the menu is pretty boring and the portions are noticeably smaller. It's a shame. I really liked New Lesf. The food isn't bad now, it's just disappointingly average. read more

We had a lovely lunch there last Monday. Fast and friendly service and we were thrilled with our sandwiches. Mine was so large I had it for dinner, I think Rodeo Chicken Sandwich or something like that. Giant fried chicken breast, Swiss, thick bacon, onion ring on a tasty roll and a mountain of tots. He had the burger special $7 cheeseburger, fries and pop. Can't get that deal at fast food and just about as fast. Can't wait until they are serving wine to go with. Have some patience if you want to eat here. New ownership and new everything. Used to be FOBS. Went with two friends for breakfast and was seated right away but the small place definitely had a lot of people. The host let us know that they're still learning the menu and the new system so the kitchen is "a little backed up". We were okay with that. I ordered the southwest omelette- eggs, choice of chicken or steak (I chose steak), cheese, tomatoes, onion, jalapeños, and pico de gallo. It came with toast as a side; tortillas would be a better option. A bit after ordering, the waitress came back and asked if I ordered a skillet (there was a similar item available as a skillet) and I clarified that I picked the omelette. It took quite a while to get our food. When we got our food, my omelette was made with chicken and I did not get any pico. I tried the omelette and wasn't a huge fan. I requested my pico cuz pico makes everything better. It took a while to get that but eventually did and it was okay, however I did not like the omelette with the chicken so I did not eat it. I had a side of breakfast potatoes that were okay. The toast was cold. Since I didn't eat my meal, the waitress comped it for me. She was very nice. All the staff seemed very nice and I'm sure they were all just struggling with learning new things. One of my friends ordered the breakfast sandwich that was advertised with egg, cheese, and bacon. All she got was egg. The waitress had it fixed for her and she enjoyed it after that. My other friend had a correct order of eggs, bacon, potatoes, and toast. It was all correct and she enjoyed it. The couple that sat in the booth behind us were there before we got there and when we got our food, I heard one of them whisper to the other that they ordered long before we did and yet we got our food first. She went and asked the waitress about it and was told that "it's coming". They still hadn't received their food by the time we left. The restaurant is still clearly being worked on. The inside needs some TLC as far as decorating goes. They advertised a buffet from 11-2 but we were there before that started. The prices were reasonable. Overall, I would not be opposed to returning in the future after they've had some time to get things figured out. Three stars for comping my bill and being friendly despite the obvious struggle and frustration. I hope things improve! read more

new leaf is in many ways - but not all, as will be noted presently- am improvement over Fob's, which occupied the same space until a few years ago. the menu has expanded and added liquor as well as many tasty options for breakfast lunch & dinner. service friendly and efficient as always. tragically, however, the new owners are no longer buying pies from local bakers, in stead opting for frozen ones from central food systems or wherever they get the rest of their supplies. these are inferior pies: my companion and i orders raspberry, a one-time favorite that we have driven miles out of our way for. these pies might as well have been called "sweet red" flavor as raspberries were hard to see in the glutinous filling. so, some change for the better ali h w a significant loss. read more

The food is as good or bad as any other place around. There is nothing special about this place. The service is horrible! The employees are not efficient at all. They walk past dirty tables and do not bus them. It appeared to me that they were only able to do one thing at a time. This wastes time and makes it take longer to get everything done while holding up progress. If I were the owner, I would seriously watch my employees and offer suggestions on how to be more efficient with time and trips to the serving area. read more

The blonde waitress, tried to be nice but it's pretty clear she's on crack. she's is speeding around touching everything won't stop talking completely just weirded me and my family out. Nancy and I stopped for lunch Monday at 1:02pm. This was our first time for the Summer of 2024. One visit late last summer. Not real busy so service was quick and friendly. We took our time since then menu had changed. The interior flaunts a new wall (hides kitchen) with a row of high top tables Nancy had a fried crispy chicken sandwich with tater tots. I had the hamburger daily special. We shared order of award winning Onion Rings. Her sandwich was the Winner. Fabulous bun and a meaty breast of chicken. So big she took half home for dinner. Went for dinner with a friend and am submitting my review with the intention of giving constructive criticism. 1. WAY too many items on the menu. Try to cut the menus (breakfast and lunch/dinner) down to one page each. Serving fewer dishes better prepared is preferred to serving many items poorly. 2. The new wall to "hide" the kitchen and service area is too tall and makes it have a closed in feeling. 3. Offering fewer entrees would allow having fresher ingredients. I really want this restaurant to be successful and long-lived. Crystal Falls needs the business. Now, to review the meals we got. The Carolina pork sandwich was terrible. Should be called Carolina pork FAT sandwich as 80% of what came on the bun was fat and what little actual meat there was, was a grayish color. The French dip was definitely made with leftover prime rib and also was not good. Both were taken home to feed to my dogs. The onion rings, wine, and beer were all good. There are not many options in Crystal Falls, so I had my doubts about this place. My wife had the chicken finger basket and we both liked them. I ordered the chicken wings with mild buffalo sauce. I can take the heat and I'll say they may have slipped in the "hot" version. Nonetheless, they were very good. I'd order either of these items again!! read more

If others experience are like mine this restaurant won't last anywhere near as long as Fob's. I've gone twice, each time for breakfast. The first time the food was just OK, not sure how you take the flavor out of roasted jalapeno peppers but they had no heat at all. Second visit I can't comment on the food because I never got served. There were about 6 people there at 9:00 AM on a Monday. I sat at one of the empty tables and the waitress acknowledged that I was there. One by one the other diners paid and left and I was still sitting there having not been offered coffee or given a menu. When the waitress walked into the kitchen leaving me as the only person in the restaurant I waited another minute and got up and left. It was seventeen minutes from when I entered to when I left. Took my business elsewhere and won't be back. read more

I can't say enough good things about this place. I'm hooked on their New York Strips and pizzas! To receive a steak of this quality, wonderful baked potato, asparagus, mixed green salad, and a dinner roll all for $22...try and beat that! Stopped here for lunch to check it out since it has a new name thinking it would be new and remodeled...it is not. The young waitress took our drink order, then the older lady came to take our order. I had been looking at work emails instead of studying the menu and I wasn't quite ready to order, so she had to come back again. I think that may be what caused the problem. It wasn't busy, there were only two other tables occupied when we walked in. Several people came in after us filling up several tables and after a time we noticed that they were all getting their food right away and getting much better service while we were still waiting. She finally came over after quite a bit of time had passed and told us that our order was delayed because the printer ran out of ink and had not printed the order for the kitchen staff. We accepted that explanation, but upon reflection, if the printer was out of ink it would not have printed any of the orders, yet all the people who came in after us were getting their meals while ours was the only one that was delayed. It was obviously an untruth. She copped an attitude and purposely delayed our meal. So if you go there, make sure you order when she wants you to, or you will be made to wait a long, long time to get your meal. Very unsatisfactory behavior by an employee. read more
