Wall to wall and floor to curved ceiling (this is the left front half of a Quonset Hut) filled with fun stuff. Little and not so little knick knacks, statuettes, toys (they had Sock Monkeys! how cool is that?), vintage style clothing, oriental inspired decor items, paintings, jewelery, gemmy stones, fountains, hats, tin-can-robot-art (my favorite). The inventory is dynamic, so almost every visit is a fresh experience. Raffael has another place in New Haven that I have yet to see. Staff here is always helpful and friendly, never over bearing. Be careful when inside as the walkways are narrow, and if you are at all tall, watch-out for things hanging from above (I got lightly cloncked by a wooden monkey, I thought it was an accident, but as I turned away, I may have heard monkey snickers). My thing is getting a coffee next door, then shopping in here. Prices are all over the place in here, but I have purchased items for as low as $4.00 and have seen paintings up into the hundreds. There are just so many items in here that statistically you should find a treasure at the right price. My missing fifth star, like the coffee cafe next door, is mostly for painful parking. Seriously, I did not hold that monkey incident against them, and I have not seen him hanging around lately. But he could be hiding, and waiting, , for me, , , or for you . . . . .

The current exhibit on Indonesian textiles was very interesting. I also enjoyed the many pieces from Picasso and Kandinsky. They even have a Calder mobile. We also enjoyed the William Blake exhibit with his poems and prints. The staff was nice and friendly. The museum was clean and their map flyer really helped us navigate through the many rooms. Free admittance and free lockers are provided in the basement for our big purses, coats, and water bottles.

The proprietor of this lovely shop - Teah, is friendly, patient, and extremely helpful. I used to have my work framed at Hull's down the street, and while Hull's isn't bad, this place is next level, and yet I don't think Merwin's is any more expensive. If I'm not mistaken they seem to be competitively priced, but at Merwin's you really feel like you're in the right place. Trust me, if you're anywhere close, or heck... even if you aren't, I urge you to give this place your business. I last had some prints framed there back in 2022, and just left something to be framed a couple of days ago, and thought - I have to write a review about this place.
