My wife and I found ourselves in the area due to an emergency, and needed a room for the night. She looked online and found this hidden gem. Us raising kids the last 20 years we both completely forgot about 21+hotels! Our stay was short, but we would have enjoyed it more had it been longer. The spa, pool, the bands, the Smoke Room, the gym, the view from the area on the roof, all looked to be interesting. And I loved our room; it's like someone time-traveled and took only the cool art deco things to dress up the rooms! Everything was "just enough" if that makes any sense. Yes, we heard some neighbors, not to mention the smoke smell, but yeah. No biggie. Definitely worth looking into!

If ever stay at the Clarendon Hotel in Phoenix, Arizona, you're in for a culinary treat at their hidden gem of a restaurant, Azlin. Every dish I've tried has been uniquely flavorful and absolutely delicious ( second time staying here) The chef's mastery in crafting rich, well-balanced flavors is truly remarkable. It's a place that deserves far more recognition, and I hope more people discover this exceptional dining experience. I haven't checked the reviews, but if food lovers haven't raved about it yet, they certainly should!

Overdue review from the last trip. We picked this hotel because it's quite close to Hubby's niece. The hotel is nice and pretty from the outside. The front desk is small, and there's no specific lobby area where guests can rest in the lobby. If they need rest, they have to go straight to the room. However, they can relax in the lounge area where the restaurant is, but the lounge is loud at night due to live music. The room is alright because they use Dr. Meyer's hand soap. The body wash, shampoo, and conditioner were good products, although I wasn't sure what brand they used for these. My skin can't handle certain products with chemicals, so these are good. The body towels are smaller than regular towels. The air conditioner or heater is ok, but I prefer a quieter one. The breakfast burrito was amazing. It was a mini-size burrito, but the way they prepared it was one of the best. I couldn't believe that I could have the best burrito here. They give out burritos at the front desk. The front desk staffers are helpful and friendly. Beautiful pool!

Nice pool not busy. I did not get in , but nice to hang out at night. The place is old, but they tried to give it a face lift; poor job, the entrance door floor needs help. Poor lighting in the restroom. The bed was comfortable and big.small restroom. I saw a small roach in the restroom in the middle of the night, I killed it; I wish I had a picture. I believe my window is near the outside speakers so later in the day they play loud music all day. The neighborhood is nice ,you can get to anywhere in minutes .My husband is tall and 204 lbs so the bed was a big deal.If I choose to come here again, it would be because of the bed.

Pros: The pre check in made everything more effortless and quick. The staff was quick to check me in and super friendly. The lobby did not smell like cannabis! The pool appeared cleaned and my room smelt like cleaning supplies. The bed and pillows are so comfortable I had no trouble falling asleep. The shower had great water pressure and the water was hot!! Cons: The standard room (non cannabis room) appeared nice, however, on further inspection, I noticed water stains on the walls and a crack with badly applied plaster. The AC is loud and sometimes it would squeak. My room did not have a dead bolt so it was missing that extra sense of security. The room was dark, I only had two lamps that worked. The light between the room and the bathroom needed a lightbulb change as it would not turn on. If you wanted snacks or water you would have to go to the lobby. I had a chair but no desk. Lastly, I was missing the amenities such as a microwave or in room coffee pot. Fee transparency: 22.50 destination fee per day. 10 dollars to park (free if you park on the street!)

This place prides itself for being an adult only, over 21 cannabis boutique hotel. And you are paying for that experience. Why do you need a hotel room that offers you only one chair, an iron with no ironing board, only two hangers for clothes so you and your friend could share? Some people want a telephone and drawers,or a fridge and an ice bucket, but why? This amazing boutique hotel has an unforgettable room! The concrete wall, and laminate flooring exudes boutique. The sound from the air conditioner and outside activities, let's you know that your money is worth it here when you choose to stay with them. Our bathroom is supplied with boutique dove products. The shower curtain is hung low, so that it drapes in the tub for you to enjoy. We love the marks left on the shower walls, and imagine what fun times were had here. Definitely check out the wires under the desk in your room, it is a piece of art that rivals the ones displayed on the walls. The Clarendon boutique hotel deserves to be a staple for those who seek a hotel room that is rented out by the hour, instead of the night. Great water pressure and the hot water is supplied with little time waiting. We enjoyed the rooftop bar, two cans of beer for $14 or mixed drinks at $14 each. Bottle water is $2 in the lobby. We did locate a Safeway supermarket nearby and purchased our necessities and libations. Thank you Clarendon for this unforgettable experience in your boutique hotel. We are so glad that we got to stay here and share our incredible memories with friends.

My fiancée and I stayed at the Clarendon Hotel and it was a horrible experience. This place is perverted and nasty, because they will video tape and take photos while you are in bed. What they call 420 or smoking rooms on 2nd floor are rigged with cameras. We were sleep and woke up to flashes from a camera then complained to the front desk and they did nothing and were not surprised. I filed a complaint with manager with no response. I now have a class action lawsuit and if you had a similia experience then join me in a class action law suit by contacting : Law Offices of Bertrand Russell Jr. Contact Info 2500 E. Thomas Rd. I've waited a month to write this review after our stay. I wanted some of my frustration to mellow out. I was very upset with the room and the level of cleanliness was unacceptable. That being said the front desk staff that I talked to was very kind and apologetic. They did move us to a nicer room in a different building that was more updated and remodeled. I had no idea how I was going to stay in the original room for a week and contemplated going to get cleaning supplies. The pool was nice. The restaurant in the building is separately owned /operated and really outstanding. This was like staying at a motel 6 which I would never choose to do. I wont be using priceline any more as I no longer trust there star ratings.

The hotel is inspired by the colorful and folk art influenced works of renowned mid-century modern architect and designer Alexander "Sandro" Girard. The hotel's bio says he was the main source of inspiration for the design of the Andaz Scottsdale. The property is beautiful to walk around, with all the landscaping, flowers and trees; some of them are marked with what kind of plant they are. There are century plants and aloe and various cacti. The fitness center is located at the spa. It has windows which open up onto the pool, which is a more private pool than the main pool. The staff is outstanding. Savannah, who ran the front desk on my most recent visit, is absolutely amazing and really helped with any questions or small issues with my stay. The restaurant is wonderful for the hotel breakfast. I recommend having cocktails there too. You can see a beautiful sunset from the bar. I love the open design of this hotel resort because it makes you feel like you're in the countryside and you can admire the beautiful views of Camelback as you walk around the grounds and hear birds chirping. It's so relaxing. Parking is easy and you can usually find a spot right outside your casita room as the parking circles the hotel. Toiletries in the room smell so good! Lavender with sea salt. It's really like staying in a spa! One of my favorite experiences at this hotel was taking a late afternoon outdoor class at the spa/gym on the large lawn where we did stretching/light resistance training with the the sunset behind Camelback Mountain as the backdrop. It was glorious. I definitely recommend trying one of the classes or "experiences" if you stay here. Some of them you have to pay extra for, but a few of them are included with your room rate. At first glance the hotel interiors and architecture seem extremely simple and minimal, but then you realize it's actually all a piece of mid-century modern inspired art. It's really fun to walk around and admire all the understated design details at this hotel.

The hotel is surprisingly affordable for Scottsdale, clean, well maintained, and has a ton of character. Unfortunately, there were also several things that left me wondering if time is beginning to pass this Scottsdale icon by. Our room was nice, but it stayed consistently around 76 degrees until the middle of the night. Why? Because there appeared to be a single vent pumping out just enough cold air to rival a household fan. I don't need my hotel room to double as a meat locker, but in Arizona, I would at least like the option. Also, being woken up by a leaf blower each morning as the wind whipped around the crevices of the door... yeah, not enjoyable. The pool was nice enough, but surprisingly small, crowded, and the water was hot. For a Scottsdale hotel with the reputation Valley Ho carries, the entire pool experience just felt a little dated and cheaper than I expected. We also paid $400+ for our cabana, only to discover the safe didn't work. At that price point, I expect every amenity included with the cabana to function properly. Now for the absolute bright spot of our pool experience: Alex! Alex was THE MAN. This dude strutted around that pool serving patrons with a smile and a full heart. My wife, our friends, and I were genuinely excited every time we saw him coming our way because his customer service was impeccable. He was personable, attentive, funny, and made us feel like he genuinely wanted us to have a great time. Give that man his flowers. Overall, I understand why Hotel Valley Ho is such a Scottsdale institution. There's history, character, and plenty to like about the property. But between the struggling A/C, questionable soundproofing, small and overcrowded pool, hot water, and malfunctioning cabana amenities, the experience didn't quite live up to the reputation. I don't regret staying here. My wife and I still enjoyed our weekend, and we made some great memories with our friends. I just think the Valley Ho experience sounds a little better on paper than it actually delivers in practice. Would I stay again? Possibly. Would I request Alex if I'm sitting poolside? In a heartbeat.
