This review is just for the lobby and rooftop bar. I didn't stay in the hotel. In late July we met for an unofficial Yelp event here and it was a good spot to rally and start our evening. Parking was on the street with a meter. We had the margarita on special at the lobby bar and then went up the elevator to the rooftop bar. We had one more drink there. It's good out there with the misters on and has a decent view. I would come back and have drinks again if the occasion were to arise. read more

I spend a lot of town downtown meeting new clients that sometimes I gotta take a break for myself. Typically I come in the fall when the weather is cooler and head straight to the 13th Floor Bar (That's another review) but to kick things off for the night we all meet at the Lobby Bar aka Monroe's before kicking off a night social fun. Our barenter Kim was slammed but handled it like a pro. Our drinks were great and consistent and she made she we had a memorable experience. We did a few rounds downstairs and took advantage of the specials and toasted to some fun. The lobby area has a chill vibe with lots of seating to allow for some privacy or gatherings. As long as you bring positive energy, people typically will return and I of course made some new friends at the bar who were in town visiting for work. Our vibe was infectious and they joined in a bit later as we returned before they closed down at 10pm. read more

If you're in downtown Phoenix and need a great place to stay consider the Hilton Garden Inn Phoenix. The location is convenient to the area; they also have nice meeting space. The rooms are older but nice and the facilities are well maintained. They have a roof top bar as well as a a nice workout room. They do offer room service and there is a restaurant next to the lobby which does both menu service as well as a paid breakfast buffet each day. read more

For one of the older historic hotels in Phoenix, this Hilton has been very well kept up and the rooms are large, modern and comfortable. All staff were very friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, the roof top bar Floor 13 was closed the whole time I was there and so was the Sushi, so good job I didnt get the $30 for $50 food credit offer when checking in. The vast marble art deco reception area also includes a small breakfast and grill, bar open from 4-10 and a small store. One great ability for Hilton is to view a map and choose your own room on check in. Nice feature, although the room key never arrived in the app, but a quick call to the hotel onroute, prompted a repush of the key and the key arrived. What was pretty cool was that I was offered a $20 upgrade to a corner room with a downtown view, but I didnt choose it. When it came to select my own room I choose the corner room with a view, without knowing (no charge) Take advantage of the discount valet in the upgrade section otherwise it's currently $43 a day/night. Valet was excellent though. Helpful, friendly fast and allowed us to park in their area while we took our luggage up, initially, so we could come back and use the car until we were ready to leave it with valet. Rooms (atleast 902) was huge, bathroom was big too with traditional bathtub shower. Decor was clean and bright, plenty of lights, TV, fridge and keurig (bring your own favorites). Although the roof bar and sushi restaurant was closed, right outside are some great Irish pubs and many other restaurants. read more

Here's the thing, I wanted to love Hilton Garden Inn and make it my go to Spring Training hotel, but it fell short in a few areas. With that being said, let me tell you why this historic downtown building/now hotel missed the mark. 1. No onsite parking. You can either valet or self park in a public lot that's quite expensive. 2. Customer Service is hit or miss. The girl that was at the desk when we arrived, was so rude. We arrived early and attempted to check in, but without even asking my name or my Hilton Honors status , she immediately said no and to come back at check in time. We came back around 4ish, and Andrew helped us. He is so sweet and provided excellent service. He gave us the scoop about all of the hotel happenings over the weekend, and was very helpful with the parking instructions. 3. My room was great, however the hotel does need a bit of work. The outside of the doors on the bottom are all scuffed. Like the housekeepers bang the doors with their carts during cleaning hours. The carpets need replacing. Overall, we had a great stay, and would probably stay again. It's super convenient for our needs. read more

One big plus of this Hilton in Phoenix, Arizona is its location--just one block away from what I consider the best Mexican restaurant I've ever eaten at. Everything there is made from scratch and truly authentic. However, when it comes to getting around the rest of the city, the hotel is slightly off the beaten path--only a few blocks, but enough to notice. One issue I can't overlook is the large number of homeless individuals and people clearly under the influence in the area. It made me uncomfortable to walk outside the hotel, especially at dusk or after dark. The hotel itself is a beautiful historic building with a grand lobby and several cozy, semi-private sitting areas. I originally chose this hotel thinking it had a full-service restaurant, but that wasn't the case. They offer a typical Hilton breakfast, with a few à la carte options, but I didn't see a full kitchen. Prices were, in my opinion, excessive for the quality. Just a few blocks away is a fantastic farm-to-table breakfast spot, also making everything from scratch, and charging less. For me, the convenience of eating in the hotel doesn't outweigh the price or quality tradeoff. The room was spacious and clean, with no musty odors--something I appreciated in an older building. I was also relieved that they didn't use heavy perfumed cleaning products. However, the provided toiletries (shampoo, conditioner, lotion) were very heavily scented. Some might enjoy that, but I'd prefer unscented or lightly scented options. Staff were generally neutral--not rude, but not overly warm either. The exception was checkout. We needed a bit of extra time to shower after a morning outing, and the staff was very accommodating, which I really appreciated. Valet parking is the only option, but it worked out well. The valet team was excellent--efficient and professional. Most of the larger cars seemed to be parked right in front of the hotel, so there was little to no wait for vehicle retrieval. That was a big plus. The rooftop bar was something I looked forward to trying, but it was a bit of a letdown. It doesn't open until 5 PM (and only until 10 PM on weekdays), and there's really not much of a view anymore due to taller buildings going up around it. Unfortunately, the drinks were also nothing special--basic and forgettable. By contrast, that nearby Mexican restaurant had a phenomenal bar with fresh fruit purées, house-made simple syrups, and creative options. It would've been great if Hilton's bar offered something more unique or higher-end. Lastly, one major factor that's changed my loyalty to Hilton overall is the change in their rewards program. As a personal (not business) traveler, it's now nearly impossible to maintain Diamond status. I used to stay almost exclusively at Hilton properties, but since they changed their rewards structure, I don't see the benefit in being loyal. I've actually discovered other hotels I now prefer--places that offer more value, better experiences, and more accessible loyalty perks for the average traveler. Overall: This Hilton is a solid hotel if priced right. The building is beautiful, the valet service is top-notch, and the rooms are comfortable and clean. I wouldn't bother including breakfast with your stay, and I'd skip the rooftop bar. While the surrounding area feels a bit sketchy, that unfortunately seems to be a broader issue in parts of Phoenix. I'd consider staying again if the rate is reasonable--but Hilton as a brand no longer holds the same appeal it once did. read more

Had a great stay at this hotel. Customer service was accommodating they were able to get me into my room at 10 am. Lobby is very nice and the fireplace is relaxing. The lobby restaurant's food was amazing but drinks were okay. Good location and a 2-7 min walk to public transit depending on where you are going. Gym was very clean, large, and well stalked. Enjoyed the body lotion that was included in the room. The fridge and microwave also put my mind at ease. Had no issues leaving my bag for a few hours before my flight. read more

No place to unload car when you arrive. Parking is in a garage a block away unless you want to valet at the hotel. We arrived during game 1 of the Suns playoff series and valet was full, so we couldn't park there at all. $40 for valet and $28 for garage. No in and out privileges at the garage so plan to walk everywhere - they charged us $40 a night for valet even though we parked in the garage every night. Just be hoping we wouldn't notice. This was an alright hotel, but I would definitely classify it as below average. I stayed in one of these in Charlotte, NC, and that one was much nicer, both physically and in terms of staff. This hotel was kind of gross, and it was oftentimes hard to find staff members quickly. The one saving grace was that it was beautifully decorated for Christmas, including a glistening blue Christmas tree in the lobby, and a really cool Christmas-themed bar on the rooftop. Staying here, the hotel is beautiful, front desk staff was great, but what's really bothering me and I needed to write this review and put 2 stars, we left an item in the room upon check out, and when I called to schedule a pick up. Apparently no one had it. No ones seen it. I've left gaming accessories, chargers, jewelry before and always got it back. The historic Professional building is stunning. The old elevator, lobby, and marble adorning floors and walls throughout the hotel bring you back in time. I have been wanting to stay here for years and pleased to have finally stayed for a weekend. Staff and valet all have been very nice and helpful during our stay. The Floor 13 bar is great too and definitely worth checking out the views of downtown if you have the chance. The room was clean and if you need housekeeping during your stay, you'll have to request it (typical these days with hotels post covid). I was bummed to learn that breakfast was not included considering the cost of staying at the hotel. Also noteworthy is that there is no pool. The hotel has a beautiful business center right off of the main lobby with a built in fireplace, comfortable chairs and a nice, modern couch. There is also plenty of seating in the lobby outside of the hotel bar and restaurant. It's a great location in the middle of downtown but unfortunately next to the light rail which that runs all night and you'll hear the 'bing' and horn through the night. Also the windows (and building) are old so I don't believe it has the same type of soundproofing you'd get with newer buildings. You hear people on the streets hollering and loud motorcycles/cars driving by all night. May not be ideal if you are a light sleeper like me. read more

Issues: 1) Inadequate parking - was actually told there was no place to park, but after persisting they found me a spot. 2) Thermostat low point set to high 67. Rooms never run true to set temperature, so sleep temp was likely over 70, which is too warm for me. 3) Received checkout survey and I shared my experience on first 2 issues. 4) They sent a second survey even though I had responded and asked how to make it right. I suggested some points. No response. 5) I followed up about 1 week later on their response about what they decided on points and Devin responded that Natasha "will be making sure you get your points" 6) Another week later and no action, no response. 7) Customers expect better. I travel a lot and as Diamond, I expect responsiveness. I now stay elsewhere and so do my colleagues. read more

Here on the worst trip of my life. LSS: I'm visiting an ICU nearby. Everyone here knows because it's been countless days of me doing laundry, in and out of valet, and unfortunately, crying moments at the bar. It is what it is. I wish no one ever had to be in this position, okay? This is the sixth PHX hotel i've stayed in over the course of four weeks. I chose it for its (minimal) security (elevators require keys), proximity to where I need to be quickly, for valet because see a previous review for another PHX Hilton property, and quite frankly, the view of construction outside the window. I need a distraction and TV won't cut it. Love my high floor room. I face the old Chase building. What a view. So many cranes. I love it. The hotel is very clean. And so far, maid service is thorough. On site laundry, the room is freezing though. Monroe's (the bar/restaurant) is okay. The drinks are great but the prices can get wonky. I have too much anxiety to inquire right now, but 50$ for two beverages is a lot anywhere. Can't speak to the rooftop bar. Went up once, the elevator opened to thumping, loud music. Closed the doors and went back down. Not my scene right now. The bass in my headache is quite enough. Hate to miss those views though. Now for the mind bending portion of my experience... the passenger side of my SUV has taken a beating while valeted. Scrapes, nicks, chips.... I know they say they aren't supposed to be responsible, but it's wild to me that they think they can get away with the crap that has happened to my gorgeous vehicle, or on anyone's vehicle, while in their care. Since when is saying 'we don't have to care but also give us forty dollars a day plus tips and whatever happens happens cool beans' gonna fly?! I'm really mad. Like, WHAT?! But I have bigger things going on, so for now, it's this review. And of course we showed one of the valet guys. He really had no idea how to respond. Again, we live here it feels like, so I requested maid service, and front desk person responded that they do it everyday. Okay, weird, we had to request previously and she took our room number. Came back after hours out, room wasn't touched. Went downstairs to inquire, and what do you know, she had to write down our room number. Luckily, even though it was after 4PM, we made the list. I get mistakes, but this one I knew about, and I don't work here. Everyone has been friendly enough, but they lack an urgency here. I feel like I wait around a lot. And this location definitely lacks the personable feel of the more recent places I have stayed. I give them grace because I'd like grace at this moment in time. But the side of my car sent me. And the lack of any response really sent me. I guess the search continues... It may be time to choose my other favorite hotel brand. read more

I stayed here the other night and it was a great stay...I would have given 5 stars but the sound from the light rail is SO loud and the bathroom, while clean, was a little lackluster. There's something about a really great shower at a hotel that really does something for me! But, the rest? Top notch. Clean, staff was friendly, beds were comfy, walk to downtown was a breeze, check in/out was efficient, the bar in the lobby made a great margarita. First time staying here in Phoenix and it has been a phenomenal time! This historic hotel built in 1928, and is right in the heart of the very walkable and light rail accessible downtown. There are literally a ton of restaurants, pubs and stores to get whatever you need. The downtown area is one of the most relatively safest I've been to in the last year. A nice gem after troubled travel! After storms delayed my flight over 5 hours, this has really been the bright spot. The room has been clean and stocked. Some water for being a diamond member (thanks, Hilton!) in a fridge ready to go is nice! I'm still waiting on my luggage that went missing at the airport (third day) but a place to get clean is very welcome! And now I'm waiting at the bar with this nice bartender who made a fantastic old fashioned. They also have great fresh iced tea (not from a machine). It was cold Thursday the fourth day the fourth today Maintenance came did something to the summon in the bathroom and I had a hot water we're in. I have been complaining since Monday about not having an air sufficient air nor sufficient hot water. I told management I told the front desk and nobody cared. And the housekeepers refused to bring our exchange the used tiles I had to ask of the front desk for towels every day the room the trashcan was not emptied every day. Let me open and say, beautiful building. Lovely hotel. My corner room was big and clean. Loved the layers of curtains to block out light & sound. This was my first stay at this hotel. I checked in through the Hilton app by requesting my electronic key on my phone. Smooth and easy, something I've come to expect from Hilton properties. My first morning, I assumed breakfast downstairs was included, because the spread is what I've seen at other Hilton property stays. It wasn't. I paid about 22 dollars for a 'breakfast buffet' - lesson learned, but the staff (other than the cook) seemed annoyed that I wanted to take my plate up to my room. They also made it clear that I was taking condiments from the wrong space, though it was facing outward to me in the buffet line. I was the only person getting food, but she hovered over me like I was doing something wrong. It was like my presence was doing disturbing them. So on my second morning, I skipped the $22 breakfast and went up to the front desk where a man was staffing it. I told him my room number and I wanted to check out. I was hoping to have a conversation about how my stay was, so I could provide feedback, but when I said my room number he just said, "you're checked out!" abruptly and he picked up the phone. He didn't ask me how my stay was, offer me a bottle of water, offer to print a receipt etc. all the things I've come to expect with Hilton Honors. But since I couldn't speak to him then, they are getting my review online now. Looking at these other reviews, it's clear I wasn't the 'one off' with my customer service experience. I'm on a layover and I needed a place to eat so walked downstairs to the restaurant. I am blown away by the great bartender. BTW, his name is Brue. He made me a drink called the Black Seal and it's WOW. Service here is second to none. Great job. The food is delicious, I have never had such great service at a hotel. Thanks for the great experience Brue and thanks to the chef Juan. He outdid himself. I eat out everyday I work, so if there's one thing I know is CUSTOMER Service. The one thing I have noticed since COVID is that customer service is gone. People expect a tip without doing any "customer service" You can tell that Brue, the Bartender, is a true professional and he really cares about his customers. I recently had a deeply frustrating and disappointing experience at the Hilton Garden Inn, and I feel compelled to share it, as I believe no guest should ever be subjected to this kind of treatment. I arrived at the hotel around 9:35 PM, and when I approached the front desk, I found the receptionist, Egon, engaged in a conversation with a colleague away from the desk. I had to walk all the way over to the downstairs bar just to get directions to the rooftop bar on the 13th floor. When I asked him about it, his response was, "What is the reason you need to know?" Right then, I felt like I was being racially profiled. I am an African American man, dressed in sweatpants and a hoodie, and his tone and attitude immediately made me feel like I didn't belong, or that my request was somehow unwelcome. I explained that I wanted to visit the bar to have a drink, and he told me that the bar was closed and the last call was at 9:30 PM--information I didn't know, but I accepted. Still, he allowed me to go upstairs. Once I got to the rooftop, I was told by the host that they weren't taking any more orders, but I was welcome to enjoy the view. I asked if they had tea, and she said no, but directed me to go back downstairs and ask Egon. When I returned to the front desk and asked Egon for tea, his first question was, "Are you a guest?" I told him no, but explained that the host upstairs had sent me to him. He then spoke with a staff member in the kitchen, and a woman came out with hot water and tea bags. However, when I went to pay for the tea, I learned that they didn't accept tap payments, which in this day and age is simply unacceptable. The staff member then took the tea back. I was frustrated and dissatisfied, so I asked Egon for a card to contact the supervisor or management. He responded, "I can't give you a card unless you have a reason." After explaining my reason, he begrudgingly gave me the card. This experience left me with a bitter taste about the Hilton Garden Inn, and I feel compelled to warn others. The way I was treated was completely unprofessional and disrespectful. No guest, especially one who is considering staying at the hotel in the future, should ever be made to feel inferior based on their appearance or attire. It's clear that there's a serious communication breakdown between the rooftop bar and the hotel staff, and the level of guest service is frankly abysmal. If Hilton Garden Inn plans to operate in a downtown area with a diverse range of guests, including those who may not have the typical "business attire" or who come from different backgrounds, the staff must be trained to treat everyone with respect. No one should ever feel like they are being judged or treated differently because of the color of their skin or the clothes they wear. At this point, it's hard to imagine returning to this location. The lack of professionalism, courtesy, and basic customer service has left a lasting negative impression. We really enjoyed our stay. This is a converted bank building. Neat architecture. Our room was very clean and the bed was comfortable. The drinks at the rooftop bar were great with a good view of the city. We ate breakfast in the lobby restaurant and the food was good. We heard good reviews about the lobby bar but were not able to try it out this trip. This is easy walking distance to the baseball park and this Suns arena. Their TV is in a shape of a desk top Monitor has no Signal , and their showers does not work properly. And most important their Mattress was like sleeping on a wooden Log . Also, breakfast is not free incase you aren't aware. The key situation for the elevator was tricky but managed to figure it out. Would I stay here again no. I rather be in place a little bit more updates and AC that worked better and plus free breakfast for what we paid for a night! About 400 and once you check in another $50 deposit. read more

Irritations & Annoyances: -- Called on our way there to get info about the neighborhood. Got transferred to the General Manager's voicemail. Left a message. Never got a return call. -- Check-in can be challenging, as there is nowhere to park temporarily while you are doing so. -- Rooms can be noisy as others have stated, especially if you're on the side close to the train. -- Hilton is getting petty in their effort to cut costs. Examples: 1.They no longer provide a pad of paper and pencil to make notes. 2. They now only provide ONE bar of soap in the bathroom. Used to be one for the sink and one for the shower. Only one soap now. -- Parking is crazy expensive, $38 for valet. I know parking in this neighborhood is expensive, but Hilton tops the list as THE most expensive (come on Hilton, show a little love to your customers). (P.S. Beautiful hotel in a historic building (was a bank when it was built in 1928). Right in the heart of downtown, walkable to pretty much everything. Nice, well updated room. Used Hilton Points for my stay but the cost was going to be something like $150 the day after Christmas. Great option for any event in downtown Phoenix. read more
