The Classic Center is an amazing venue for the physical education event that I have attended twice. Tons of space, high ceilings and generally good acoustics. There is so much room to move! The staff is a bit inconsistent. Some are friendly and helpful and some aren't They keep the bathrooms quite clean. The parking situation here is not very good. Of you are lucky enough to snag a spot it's good but the lot fills quickly. Overall I would come back to more events here in the future. read more

My experience here left a lot to be desired. If you are attending a large conference here, please be advised that they DO NOT have sufficient parking for all attendees. You will likely have to take rideshare or find somewhere else far away to park. When I attempted to park upon arriving at the Classic Center, an employee who was stationed outside the parking garage (to let people know it was full) pointed me toward parking for the courthouse a couple blocks away. When I drove over there, a courthouse employee told me that parking there is not allowed unless one has official courthouse business. So not only is their parking area very small, but they do not even give accurate information about where alternate parking can be found. It was incredibly frustrating. I ended up driving around for 30 minutes and finally settling for an expensive lot nearby just so I could get to my conference. Signage within the venue is virtually non-existent and employees are few and far between if you happen to have questions or need assistance. It's like they expect that everyone visiting this place has been many times before and knows the lay of the land, which is decidedly not the case. The sole reason I am giving two stars is because they did not skimp on air conditioning. It was on in full force the entire time I was at my conference, which is beyond necessary given the outdoor temperatures averaging 95 degrees with 80%+ humidity when I was in Athens. I would not have expected the air conditioning situation to go off without a hitch given the remainder of my experience here, but sometimes there are small silver linings. read more

I have now been here for a concert and the venue is amazing! It has the old timey feel and there isn't a bad seat in the house. Getting in and out was quick and efficient, with their machines that you can just walk through. No emptying of pockets or anything like that. We sat on the floor level and the bathrooms on that level were nice and they had two bars as well. I want to shout out to one of the ushers that had "Supervisor" written on the back of her shirt. I asked if they had boosters for the kids and even though they did not, she went into another space and got me one. Then went back again to get me another as I had both of my kids with me. This was a game changer for their view experience! The acoustics in the place are also great! read more

Athens is insanely fortunate to have this facility and the staff that run it. The Classic Center is a model of hospitality. We have seen countless concerts here such as Willie Nelson, Clint Black, The B52s, and Love Tractor. The Classic Center brings a series of Broadway shows to Athens. Every year! The economic impact of the Classic Center is enormous for Athens. It's positive effect on hotels, restaurants, artists and auxiliary services is an incredible boon to our community. There is a world class hanging artwork in the atrium and there is art along the walls inside the Classic Center (featuring numerous local artists). Also, the Classic Center is a triumph over short sighted and self serving local politicians. Despite several commissioners being opposed to the hundreds of jobs that are created by the CC and its dynamic economic impact, it is the center of culture and conferencing in Athens. We cannot wait until the Arena is finished in 2024. Bigger names in entertainment will be able to play in Athens and more varied sporting events can be seen there. read more

We enjoyed the Nutcracker for Christmas very much. The whole thing was a perfect event for Christmas and the performance was wonderful. Not everyone dressed the part, but I guess folks don't all wear suits and dresses to special events anymore. Although there was plenty of parking the parking folks created a bottle neck getting into the lot and charged $15 a car on the spot. This should have been paid in advance and posted. It caused a backup down the street both ways and I'm sure unexpected for all. Merry Christmas. read more

Usually these places are cool but we were sweating and the women in front of us were fanning themselves with programs. It's a basic convention center with some nice architecture. It's small so navigating throughout the center to find your designated areas is really simple. You don't really need a map at all since the signs are spot on and direct you exactly where you need to be. The bathrooms upstairs are fine. Don't go to the bathrooms downstairs. They're gross and unkept. When you walk ing, it seems like there are about a fifty stalls left and right. But start checking each one of them out, and they all had poop in them. Why?? The service was good and the complimentary breakfast they served was simple and good. The egg casserole was delicious. The water cups are so tiny. They are slightly larger than shot glasses. The layout of the center is spacious and again, easy to navigate. It's good for small-to-medium sized convention. There's lot of big windows everywhere. Natural light always feels good in a busy meeting place like this. read more

I attended a wedding here in June. The cake was so beautiful! All the food was amazing! The kitchen staff here did a great job. Food was presented so well on the plates. It was well seasoned and very tasty. Hats off to the chef and pastry chef! read more

If you get a chance to see a performer you love when he/she makes an appearance at the Classic Center Theatre, please go! The acoustics are great and it's lovely to see a show in this beautiful, professionally-run space. I forget what the downstairs open space is called--Wilco has played here more than once and it's NOT a theatre, just a huge barn-like standing-room-only music venue. Not my favorite place to see a show. The Classic Center hosts conferences and conventions throughout the year. It's a really convenient, viable option for big companies, as it's in the heart of charming downtown Athens, an already inexpensive city with a lot to do within walking distance. No huge city traffic issues or rental cars required here. Broadway tours pass through here a lot, too. read more

Love this venue when I go to see my UGA ice dawgs! Always clean and wonderful customer service. The only thing I wish they had more beer selection and the pretzels were not hard as rocks and the popcorn had flavor. read more

FIRST THINGS FIRST! When visiting the city for the first time, a stop at The Classic Center is a great first step. Here you will find the visitor's center where you can obtain brochures and information regarding upcoming performances and things to do in the area. This is also a really large space for conferences and other events. As you enter the building, there is a wall to your immediate left that holds brochures and to your slight right, you will find the receptionist desk, (not in today), where you can obtain additional information. On the lower level of this building is an indoor ice rink that can be assessed by the indoor escalators. This was a popular area today! I love the casual seating and viewing screen that advertises certain events and activities. My husband and I actually sat in this area to review our brochures and to plan our tour. Don't even think that you can park here as there were literally five spaces, two blocked by orange cones and three occupied. Simply use the on street parking and walk. This is a very spacious and beautiful building. I especially love the carpet and very clean bathrooms. I look forward to returning and actually attending a performance at the theater next door. Does not matter how nice the facility is if you do not provide the service. Here for a Sorority parents weekend. 30 minutes in line to get one drink. This place is dryer than rehab. Have your event at Athens Country Club! GM Michael Cofer would never tolerate the terrible service that the Classic Center provides. Too bad you cannot give ZERO stars. read more

I attended a conference here and the facility was quite adequate in terms of sound, seating, and a very accommodating staff. I must say, however, that it was really disappointing that they ran out of bacon at breakfast before I got there on the second day!!! read more

The csc staff treated me and my friends incredibly rude at the beginning of the widespread panic show on February 10th. We were in the correct seats and staff number 27 yelled at me and insisted we leave your seats. I had to raise my voice at him until he believed me. When I talked to the supervisors they stood by the person and wouldn't listen to me. Going to put down my phone and enjoy the how now but I expect classic center or csc to give me some sort of apology or explanation. read more

PARKING DECK: managed by a cool staff with the exception of one nervous mess of an idiot named matthew. have been parking here for two years and all of a sudden it turned to shit this year where monthly parkers get bombarded with emails, falsely accused of passing cards out, and limited space in the dungeon of the parking deck. particularly sketchy if you're a young woman and parking at night. will be looking for different parking next semester. i recommend the college ave or washington st decks if there is availability. read more

We considered using them for a wedding site...until we found that they wanted to charge us a fairly large sum of money for a glorified storage room. The actually nice places within the facility are incredibly expensive. No thanks. read more
