If you haven't been to The Clay Pit yet, you are missing out! The Garlic Naan is to die for, and the Chicken Biryani is amazing. They offer a lunch buffet with many food options (plus all the naan you can eat!). I definitely recommend giving this place a try!

All I can say is WOW. The food we had this time was incredible. We ordered garlic naan, paneer bhurji, and chicken biryani--ALL amazing. The paneer bhurji, which is a shredded paneer tomato dish, came with cilantro cumin rice. As someone who likes heat, medium spice was the perfect level for me. It was completely empty on a Wednesday night, so our food came out fast and fresh. The inside of the restaurant is clean with plenty of booth seats. When you're done with your meal, you pay at the front desk. I could not be happier with a meal.

    Solid lunch choice

Great smells as you walk in. Limited parking beside Little Caesar's. Great service by people who care. The garlic naan that comes with the buffet is amazing - light, slightly-charred. Great detail. The buffet is small but packed. The salad has a special mint dressing that is clearly homemade. The yellow basmati rice is kept fresh. But the mains are outstanding. Subtle heat in the tandoori chicken. Real yellow and red curry in the dishes. Perfect for the slightly adventurous, and a great value. Worth a drive across town to try.

    Excited!

SOLID 5 stars. Very delicious meal. They were very busy for a Wednesday night. Food was hot, flavorful, delicious. Can't wait to go back and try more! Very affordable. Genuinely nice people.

So I guess I had to start out 2019 with a hidden treasure... Since the other Indian places were closed, we drove a bit further to this little gem of a place. We don't live near Murfreesboro, but we're visiting. Is it crazy to think of moving closer just to be near your favorite food? Probably... but this may be an exception. The place is small, quaint but with a well thought out layout for the buffet. Everything flows well. We were promptly greeted cheerfully and asked which kind of bread we would like. We were not disappointed... it was fresh with crispy outsides and bubbly insides with just a hint of salt combined with garlic. The vegetable pakoras were a crispy ball of crunchy fried vegetables that made your eyes roll towards the back of the head. Saag (spinach) and daal (lentils) don't usually sound tasty but I went back for seconds and thirds. There two kinds of rice could not have been any more fresh! We finished it off with the donut-ball-like dessert that really helped cool off the palate from the other spices that had built up. On top of this it was only $10 a person for all you can eat! This was such a lucky find and I wish I could come back more often.... Wow.. just wow!

Vibe: Yeah, it's in a strip center (lol), but don't judge a book by its cover. Inside, it's surprisingly nice -- clean, comfortable, and way more inviting than you'd expect from the outside. It had that calm mid-afternoon vibe, perfect for grabbing a quiet meal. Service: Everyone was super friendly and easygoing. My server made great recommendations, checked in just enough, and had a really nice energy about them. You can tell they care about the experience. Food & Drink: I went with the Palak Paneer -- paneer cooked in creamy spinach with spices -- and it was awesome. The sauce was rich and flavorful, and it came loaded with paneer. I ended up getting extra rice just to scoop up every bit of that sauce. Totally hit the spot. Overall: Great food, great service, and a super chill spot to unwind. I'll definitely be back next time I'm in Murfreesboro. Date of visit: September 7, 2025

This was my first time ever going to this restaurant and the people were nice, but not friendly. Here's what I mean, they smiled and were nice, not rude, but they weren't like trying to be helpful. For instance, I had no plate, fork, napkins, at my table, and our server didn't bring me one. So, one of the people I was with, grabbed a clean plate, napkin, and fork from another table (they're randomly on different tables) so I could have one. We were never asked if we needed a refill of our drinks or if we needed anything. It was a very hands off experience. I ordered a water and a sprite, never got a straw for both, so had to switch between the drinks. So, again, nice, but not friendly. The food wasn't the best. It was a group of 3 of us. 2 got the buffet, I personally ordered the Lamb Rogan Josh. The buffet didn't really have great options and the naan bread was just sitting out, so it wasn't nice and fresh. The food was decent, but it wasn't great. It was lacking in salt and surprisingly my meal was lacking in seasoning. I know. I know. Crazy right!? Indian food is never under-seasoned, but here we are. It honestly just tasted like spicy yogurt. Heat. Pepper. Not really the same as seasoned. The heat level , but the seasoned level ehhh. I took it to go and it got better the next day with some salt and covered in mint and tamarind sauce. Now, the meat samosas on the other hand, they were good. They needed a little salt, but they tasted pretty good. I mean I honestly have no complaints with them. They were nice and big. Crunchy. Seasoned pretty well. Overall 8/10 appetizer. No complaints from me on it. The other two enjoyed the biryani and bhatura ( soft fried fluffy bread) they had at the buffet. Those were the two things that stood out to them most. The restaurant is fairly dark and has a chill vibe where you just pick your own seats, which I really didn't have a problem with. My one complaint was the rips in some of the seats. It was a bit uncomfortable to sit on, but nothing that really destroyed your visit. It was more just like a "aww, man, that's annoying..." and then move on type of thing. Every once in a while I'd look down, see the big piece of tape and then have to reshift myself, but other than that, no big deal. Maybe I'll give them another try in the future because it was off being it was random in the middle of a week day.

We got seated right away and there was one other table in there besides us. I tried a small sample of many of the items on the buffet. I wasn't really sure what I was expecting since I'm not very familiar with Indian cuisine, but I am glad they had a buffet to give me the chance to try different items. I am glad I came here. I've tried some other spots before, but I really liked the food at this one. My favorite thing here was the naan and saag paneer. The saag paneer had a very nice flavor to it. They had plenty on their bar so I got the chance to try their tandoor chicken and chilli chicken. I can't handle spice too well, but I was able to handle the spice here. The food wasn't too spicy at all. The spice level was perfect for me. The food on the bar was more towards the cool/warm side. The chicken I tried was cool and not very warm. Next time I come, I will probably just order off the menu.

This is going to take a while for us to delightfully work through the menu. Overall, attention to detail is obvious. Each dish is impeccably plated. When they first opened, it was so sleek and shiny - a long way from what it is today! We ate there last Sunday the 19th of April. There is duct tape EVERYWHERE trying to hold the once glossy, once white, once clean laminate in place. The booth we sat in (also cushion ripped and worn) had no less than 6 strips of duct tape holding it together. If you look around the dining room, it is on most of the joints, keeping them together. It is als VERY junky and cluttered. Went to the bathroom (another area that needs a lot of work) and there are rolling storage cabinets lining the hall making it very claustrophobic. On the way back to the table I looked behind the bar - a hodge podge of tools and caulk guns and whatever else I do not know piled in the floor. It was a mess. Corners and baseboards, chair legs and booth bases were just - dirty. Years of residue built up. Probably won't eat inside ever again, it is just so depressing, especially after knowing what it once was. We were there at prime lunch time after church and there were only three tables seated and a couple of to go customers.
