The Person in Charge admitted that food found at dangerous temperatures in the walk-in cooler had been left on prep tables overnight before refrigeration. Embargoed items included 36 pounds of raw chicken, 25 pounds of cooked chicken, 20 pounds of cooked goat, 10 pounds of rice, and hard-boiled eggs--all stored at 49-52 degrees instead of the required 41°F or below. Repeat Violations Threaten Closure This marks the second repeat violation for critical infractions. Despite being classified as a "risk 3" facility and receiving fact sheets and risk control plans for five years, inspectors noted "there is no change in the food handling practices." The inspector emphasized, "Food can not be left out on the tables overnight to cool. This is a major health issue, and this practice must cease immediately." Additional Violations Found Inspectors documented 17 total violations, including cross-contamination risks (raw chicken stored above pork, employees handling raw chicken then cutting onions), sanitation problems (onions stored on floors in mop water, extremely dirty equipment with old food debris), and procedural violations (no employee illness policy, reusing single-use containers). Food is good. But the hygiene in this place is like India - filthy and nasty. Not sure how they pass inspection. Will be reporting them to WC food inspectors for a surprise visit. Also, they have served me spoiled food on few occasions - esp when it's a take out situation. When you call back the connection is usually broken and the accent makes you wonder if ICE needs to be notified. So there you go. Sad to say that on my first attempt trying this place they royally messed up my order. I ordered Gobi munchurian and received paneer munchurian. I ordered Malai kofta, and received some type of paneer curry. When placing the order, the gentleman put me on hold to ask the kitchen if they had availability on both items, to which he confirmed. When I get home I open up my order and it's completely wrong. I do not eat paneer so I cannot enjoy half of the food that I ordered. It's really weird that you can't speak to the restaurant , you speak to a third-party ordering service so when something is messed up, you don't have anyone to actually talk to about your problem. All they can do is try to reach out to the restaurant and the restaurant ignores them. And my naan is BURNT! I was really excited to try this place and drove 30 minutes out of my way to go here and it was complete disappointment. read more

Another awesome Indian spot in the Nashville area. Tasty tucked away spot with a unique feel. Nice large variety of items without being overwhelming. If you want to know more about the restairant or its selection, just ask Vinay! They are also an Indian Bakery who are well-known in the community for their decadent bar cakes and cookies. Food: The food has always been top-notch. A level above in terms of quality. I always order online and have gone through the menu multiple times, ordering the next item on the list every Friday. Remember to try their desserts! Don't just settle for everyone's favorite freshly made Mango Lassi. This is a locally owned Indian restaurant that I've been coming to for years! It's my family's go-to spot. The biggest reason I love this restaurant as it's one of the only places in the area that's "dhaba style" (aka a fast food place). You go in and order at the counter. You grab silverware, plates, and water yourself. You can spend hours here (and people commonly do), just chit chatting, eating, and ordering more food as you go. The prices are also one of the best Indian food deals in town, so your money will go a long way here! Papri Chaat- An amazing pop of flavor with the chickpeas, yogurt, crunch, tamarind, and mint chutney. Every bite is a burst for the taste buds. Definitely recommend getting this as an appetizer. Masala Dosa- It was fried to perfection though I did wish the batter had fermented a little bit more. The sambar was delicious! The potato filling was well spiced, as was the tomato chutney it came with. The coconut chutney was missing a bit of salt but was an easy fix! Tandoori Chicken- The tandoori chicken is prepared a bit differently here than your typical Indian establishment. While it has the smokey flavor the dish requires, they also add some extra spice and gravy to it! It was so soft on the inside and delicious! Mango Cake- Probably my favorite dish of the night. Their most recent renovation of the inside looks fantastic! I came on a weekday and finally had a chance to try their lunch special. Everything on the plate tasted great, with different rices, curries, soups, and a little carrot halwa dessert. I am happy to give Cafe India a very good review. I have tried a variety of dishes from Cafe India and enjoyed every one. I have been to many Indian restaurants, Cafe India is as good as the best of the others. If I had to find something to winge about, asking for mild, spicy, hot etc is a bit of an adventure. We love cafe India! I love the fact that it's a mix between southern Indian and northern Indian food. Most people don't realize that there's a difference between the regions food, but we travel to and from India a lot, and have come to discover that there's a difference. Thankfully, they have both. They are super friendly, and if you greet them with , Namaste or Vanakkam, they love that ! It's always pretty clean. The only reason for the four stars is that this last time we went in it seemed like the portions got smaller, but prices got a bit higher. The aloo gobi contained large pieces of uncut vegetables which had to be cut at the table before they could be eaten and the vegetables were all hard. just got back from having our dinner here and everything was so delicious and top tier !! all the food was super fresh and made to order, it was literally steaming when they served the food and it was so good we ate it all before thinking to take pictures ! we had the chicken 65, crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. the chicken tikka kebab, amazing and super flavorful. the green chutney was bomb. the mirchi bajji, crispy and just the right amount of spice. bejawada punugulu, crispy and fluffy paired with a perfect coconut chutney. and for dessert we had the jalebi which was fresh and crunchy with the perfect amount of sweetness (literally eating them while writing this and we finished four of them in one sitting) and to top it off the staff are super friendly and welcoming ! read more

Everyone else loved this place, but I can't agree. The place is only okay. I feel that it largely depend on its to-go orders because the Café India was complete desolate when I got here. I was also to-go. I feel the food was a bit bland and didn't have the flavor that I was looking for in my meal. I requested one thing and got another. I can't say that it worked well with my stomach either despite my request of low spice. Additionally, when I warmed up my leftovers, I did not particularly care for the aftermath from the night before meal. I really hate to sound like I am bashing a locally owned place, but it just did not agree with me. The food is good, which is why we've ordered takeout several times. That is not the problem. I ordered takeout online as usual. However, this time the treatment received was offensive. I enter the restaurant with my son (two black guys and yes I am going there). I provide my name for my online order and the lady at the counter asks me for proof that I made the order. She did not ask the two customers before us for proof. I asked if she does this with everyone and she responded that she wanted to make sure the order matched. Again she didn't ask anyone else for that and what sense does that excuse make? No sense at all. I will or be back. My husband and I are obsessed with this little gem! We've been coming here for quite some time, and once a week. It's definitely a favorite of ours, the staff is so kind and friendly! During the time of COVID, we've been ordering via take-out, and the food is always done in the right amount of time given. We've never had to wait even when it's been busy, and it's all bagged securely so the heat is kept in and easy to travel with!
