very unhappy with my purchase, I bought iver $500 dollars worth if items and two days later they went on sale for 10% off, I called and asked may I please have yhe sale price. They sair no that I could return my used pillows and buy them again. I askee did they know there would be a sale starting in two days they said they never are awaew of when there will be sales which cannot be true, dont they've have to plan for their sales. We dropped in an hour before closing on a Friday and I'm so glad we did. We had such a great experience with Roger and our new mattress and linens are a 1000% improvement from where we were before. We ended up with the Obasan mattress, after trying a lot of options. Roger patiently configured a ton of different options for us and helpfully suggested pillows and sheets as well. We also purchased a 100% silk pillow and Sferra sheets and comforters from him and there is a 20% discount when buying a mattress, which was great. Definitely not your bargain establishment, but you pay for quality and service, which they have in spades. The door was a bit confusing, you have to go in through security for the club in the lobby and enter in an interior door in the office building, but it's worth going into the building and asking the security guard if you can't figure it out. read more

AMAZING!!!! The staff at this store are amazing and so helpful. We came in three times and every time we came in they were so accommodating, knowledgeable, informative and happy to help us. We were on our way to the store after work but we're running late. They close at 7 but waited u until 8pm. My girlfriend and I couldn't decide on a bed and they let us try the beds and gave us advice when asked but weren't pushy at all. We tried a few other mattress stores and this one had the nicest most knowledgeable people and most comfortable beds. We went with the softest obasan mattress. I love that everything is organic and I don't need to worry about sleeping on / breathing in harmful toxins every night. We bought a new organic (non latex) mattress at The Clean Bedroom and it was a wonderful investment. My husband and I both have back issues and the firm mattress improved our sleep from the moment we got it. The showroom is small and not terribly convenient, but we were able to try out the various beds and pick the one that suited us - it was one of the more expensive ones. The mattress arrived in a reasonable amount of time and was great. There was none of that awful off-gassing smell you get with most new furniture, and knowing there were no chemicals used was essential to our decision. Was it more expensive? Yes. But with every other company trying to sell cheap, questionably made, potentially toxic products, I was happy to invest in something made right and got my money's worth. The firm organic wool pillows were great, too. My only problem with this store is that there should be MORE products on display, more furniture options, more accessories (e.g. organic bedding, rugs), etc. I don't have time to research every single piece of furniture I need, and having a company that vetted a wide variety of home products for environmental quality would be a huge timesaver. read more

Awesome store and service. There is a lot of fluff out there in the mattress world, I spent god knows how many days researching different "organic" mattresses. After reading about all the crap that is in traditional mattresses and the potential adverse affects of a coil spring, we wanted to buy a healthy mattress considering we spend 1/3 our life in bed. We checked out Purple, Casper, and one other (can't remember which)- and they all seemed kind of gimmicky with venture backing where it seems the majority if their money is spent on ads not on the quality of their product. Then we found The Clean Bedroom. The showroom to this place is much better than it use to be at 230 5th (on ground floor now, was upstairs previously and was much smaller). The staff are educated and not pushy. We ended up with an Obasan mattress, it was not cheap but it is by far the best mattress I have ever slept on (including hotels with "the worlds best beds" made out of horse hair). Highly recommend Obasan and this store; will definitely buy a bed here again. read more

Went there last night to buy pillows and sheets. I was leery to lay down and try out pillows, but once I started couldn't stop. I also found out the owner (who helped me/ works in the store a few days a week) donates to charity (which is important to me). You cannot get better customer service than in this small, tucked-away store. Roger, Brian, Tom et al really do everything to make sure you're happy with what is going to be an expensive mattress. They take care that you're as well informed as possible because their beds are high-ticket; and they stand behind what they sell: toxin-free, conscientiously green, superbly constructed beds. One caveat: the trial period, while attractive, does not mean they will take a mattress return. They don't, unless you can prove some defect. They will allow you to swap out for something else in the store, but you will pay a lot for the exchange. Also, we bought the most expensive mattress in the store at a hair-raising price, but frankly I think you will be just as satisfied with the lower-priced ones. read more

My first son and transitioning from a crib to a big boy bed and I was looking for an organic mattress for him. Roger was so knowledgeable and so hospitable! He made me feel very comfortable and was so informative without being pushy at all! We ended up getting the Obasan Fundy and it is AMAZING!!! My son sleeps so well and I can rest at night knowing he's not breathing in off gasses or any other toxic chemicals that standard mattresses are made of. The price was also very fair given the quality of it. (Less than Tempurpedic even.) It is now 2017. Our first son is going on 3 and we have another boy who just turned one. We're definitely going back to The Clean Bedroom to get Harry's mattress when he's ready and are in the market for a King sized mattress and yup, we're getting it from TCB. Ok this review is going to sound like a sales pitch, but I'm so happy with this place, the service, and this mattress, I have to! As a caveat, I KNEW this place would be expensive. I'm not a rich man, lower-middle class, I live in Queens. I'm no manhattan snob banker yuppie. All the rest of my house is cheap Ikea stuff. But if there's one expensive piece of furniture you're going to have, make it your BED. Yes, a fully organic mattress costs a lot more than a cheap made in china mattress, and yes still more than one of those poser 'all natural' type of fake organic mattress. But let me tell you, our sleep last night was fantastic! If I had known years ago, what I know now, I would've coughed up the cash for one of these mattresses from the beginning. There is no horrible plastic off-gassing smell, the natural latex has enough give to be soft, but firm enough to actually support you, unlike those stupid posturepedic foam things. Those are nice for a few minutes, but 8 hours sleep and my back is all out of wack. This thing, I felt like, to put a percentage number on it, 10% better rested than on my crappy chinese mattress. Doesn't sound like that much, but over days and months and years, you're talking about improved quality of life! I was also happy to hear it comes with a 10 year warranty! The salesman said it would last us 20 years or more! If you compare that 4 crappy cheaper mattresses in the same amount of time, it's pretty much the same cost! On the anti-chemical note, I got this mattress primarily because my wife is pregnant, and her thyroid tests showed low TSH levels. A lot of googling and I was shocked to find an article that PBDE, a flame-retardant put into most mattresses and furniture, in high amounts caused low TSH levels in rats, and even humans! Made in China mattress OUT THE DOOR. I refuse to let a cheap choice for a mattress mess with my wife and newborn babies biological safety! I don't care if it costs more, it's for MY peace of mind, but again, the fact that the thing is so dang COMFORTABLE, is what's really nice. Oh, and yes, Steven, the salesman, is the ultimate 'go out of the way to make you feel satisfied' kind of salesman. A charming man, who seems to really care about what he's selling, so he comes off as sincere. Nothing I hate more than an insincere salesman. oh and he threw in free organic pillows! read more

Given the large investment I searched to see where we could try one out in Manhattan. The Clean Bedroom came up. My husband and I went to the showroom to look at the mattress and see what other options there were. The showroom has a bunch of bed options to try, including pillows and organic bedding samples. It is a good place to go if you are looking for a more natural bedroom. We were able to try the Royal Pedic and liked it. We went ahead with the purchase. We are extremely pleased with the mattress and the service we received. Our salesperson, Brian was very responsive, even via email afterwards. The inventory is high quality, there's plenty of selection, but not too much you're overwhelmed, and the service is excellent. They are patient, knowledgeable and will work with you for however long it takes to ensure you make the right decision. They even stayed late on the two weeknights I came as I kept trying things out. Plus the store is centrally located and just feels good. It's light and airy so spending a few hours trying mattresses isn't such a burden. Ive been looking for a mattress for over six months and nothing was right...i had enough of sleepy's, department stores and the Internet and am grateful to have found the clean bedroom. I was looking for mattresses for a new summer home on fire Island. I have well researched organic toxic free beds that are made without petroleum products. About 5 years ago I bought organic latex, cotton and wool mattresses for a home upstate. Unfortunately I never felt comfortable as I like a firm mattress. So this time around I continued my search for a firm organic mattress. I went on a mission lying in bed after bed. I knew about the Clean Bedroom store and visited there one Saturday late in the day with a close friend. We were welcomed by the most amazing salesperson, Janana. She was helping another customer as well but took the time to explore my needs and concerns. We must have stayed there for TWO HOURS. Janana never rushed us, and answered all our questions. The products they sell at the Clean Bedroom Store, from Savvy Rest to Vispring, are of the highest quality. I left without buying a mattress but returned 2 weeks later and finally settled on the most comfortable mattresses for the Fire Island home.
