I would like to start this review with a bold statement: Staycations are a waste of money. I never saw the point of a staycation or how it would ever be worth it. I could never justify the price of a staycation when home was less than an hour away. The Clement Hotel in Palo Alto changed all of this. I knew my husband was up to no good when he had to start the conversation with "just hear me out ok?". My heart dropped when I heard the price, but he assured me it would be the ultimate all-inclusive hotel experience for the kids. I should also give you context on our kids' favorite part of a vacation: the hotel. I was very very very skeptical, but he rarely steers us wrong, so I put my trust in him. As soon as the kids heard about what their dad had in store with them, they were ecstatic and counting down the days of unlimited room service, hour long baths, an unlimited 24/7 pantry, and a drink buffet. I began doing some research on the hotel, what it had to offer, and what other people had to say about it, and I have to admit that I was starting to get excited too, but nothing close to the level of the kids' excitement. We packed our bags and traveled a long 30 minutes with our pup in tow. The moment we arrived, Bernie had been waiting for us and opened the door and greeted us. Check-in was quick and easy and he gave a tour of the pantry, "restaurant", and common area. We signed a quick waiver for our dog. This is one of the few trips with our pup, and this is by far the most pet friendly hotel, ever! We got to our room and we were completely blown away! We had a balcony, the longest and deepest tube we've ever seen, a shower, Jack&Jill sinks, tall windows, 2 TVs, and a fridge already stock full of premium juices and drinks. At this point I was slowly justifying the price and understood what my husband meant by "experience of a lifetime". Although the kids wanted to order room service, we opted to eat down at the restaurant since it was our first meal here. Thank goodness we did because we we got to meet Caty (Catherine): the best server. She played a huge role in our amazing experience at The Clement. She was always so patient as the kids ordered themselves, she never gave attitude or made us feel guilty for ordering more, and most of all you could tell she genuinely enjoyed making people happy and enjoy their time at The Clement. We also got the pleasure to meet Dulce for breakfast the next two mornings and she was amazing as well! The most memorable dishes were: - Poke Nachos: We loved this dish so much we ordered it for every meal (except breakfast). The tuna was so fresh, well-seasoned, and well-balanced. This dish was a fan favorite and quite literally *chefs kiss! -Winter Greens Salad: The Clement knows how to do a salad. The dressing ratio was perfect: not too heavy and drenched/soaked, but every bite had a nice tang. The salad is so well-balanced with savory, sweet, tang, and different textures. This was another repeat order of ours. - Pan Seared Scallops: Cooked to perfection! They had a nice sear, perfect chew, well-seasoned. Need I say more? - Soy-Honey Roasted Beef Tenderloin: This was hubby's favorite. The meat was cooked to perfect medium and the ginger squash puree was so special. - Parmesan Truffle Fries: Who doesn't love a good fry? Add a little truffle oil and you can't go wrong. The kids devoured these every meal. -Grand Mariner Yogurt Cake: The crème de la crème! I still dream about this soft, fluffy, moist, warm cake! It wasn't too sweet, had a nice tang, and just the perfect cherry on top of your meal. We got to try over 15 items from their lunch&dinner items and overall, nothing disappointed. I think the only thing that seemed a bit off was their Buckwheat Cavatelli; the sauce was delicious and savory, however the cavatelli had too much of a bite and seemed well-undercooked. Other than that, their dishes had the perfect amount of seasoning and good balance of flavors and textures. I didn't expect much out of an all-inclusive dining experience, but this blew my expectations out of the water and I catch myself craving their salad, poke nachos, cake, and FRESH-BAKED cookies. Yes, all caps were necessary--especially if you catch them stocking the cookie stand! Grab a handful, you won't regret it! The cocktails were all amazing too! We enjoyed all of their signature cocktails and their champagne. Their mimosa was one of my favorites; the citrusy blood orange flavor really shined! The cherry on top to our experience was Gail and the rest of the staff at The Clement. They truly make you feel warm and welcomed, almost like an extended family. They are all so accommodating and remember your name, room number, and to my surprise knew who we are before we even told them. Thanks to The Clement, I am a believer in staycations and hope to return one soon! You will not regret a stay here.

Nothing but great things to say about this place. Stayed here with my girlfriend as a late bday celebration. The hotel is expensive but it is worth every penny. All of the staff are very friendly and make it a point to make sure that you have every possible accommodation. We got a complimentary upgrade when we reached. It is an all inclusive hotel so all food is included with an open bar as well as a pantry stocked with items. Food was incredibly tasty. We ordered items like the scallops, rack of lamb, broccoli cheddar soup, furikake tuna, beyond burger and more. Breakfast can be enjoyed from the comfort of your room or the dining hall below and is also complimentary. Entered our suite to find the staff has made us a snack basket as well as included a birthday balloon with champagne. Rooms are installed with automatic blinds, heated floors, huge bathtubs, bidets, and other accessories. This is a phenomenal place to stay for a romantic occasion, or just a getaway with your friends. Will be recommending this place to many.

Best luxury hotel I've stayed in so far. We haven't parked at the front curb completely yet and we were already welcomed and greeted by Ms Gail and another nice lady (sorry I didn't catch her name) who helped us with our bags. Celebrated hubby's 38th bday and enjoyed the exceptional hospitality, delicious food by chef Brian and staff, 24hr access to the pantry, our luxurious room was so roomy with heated bathroom floors and a bidet!! We will definitely be back. Thank you The Clement

Gail. She's the face of The Clement, a six-star boutique hotel. Mr. Chen (owner) and guest(s) that stay at The Clement are blessed to have her. She's the sole reason that I'm upgrading my rating to 5 stars.... Always smiling, welcoming, and delivering personalized service and gracious hospitality to ensure that every stay is memorable. On my most recent stay, she and Roarke went above and beyond by setting up a private dining area in the boardroom so we didn't have to eat outside in the cold for NYE. Tater Tot had his own area in the boardroom with a plushy bed and Voss water. Cynthia, our kind server for the night, even had the chef grill an unseasoned chicken breast for him. Many hotels claim to be "dog-friendly" but in reality they're just dog tolerant while charging an exorbitant pet fee with zero pet amenities. Not here - Mr. Chen, a dog lover himself, makes sure that they're well taken care of at his property. Sometimes the food can be a hit or miss (i.e. overcooked proteins) but it's generally good - the poke nachos and seared scallops w/ bacon beurre blanc are my favorites! I'm happy to report that breakfast room service has improved: https://bit.ly/2ZIPWji. The poached eggs were on point for my benedict and avocado toast. Ahhhh, that money shot of liquid gold flowing: https://bit.ly/37x4pS2. Cocktails and food service to the rooftop pool (w/ panoramic views) always takes time (30-40 minutes) so I've learned to call ahead in the suite before heading up. Problem solved. There's no such thing as perfect but The Clement comes close to it. Splurge-y but worth every penny especially for some remote controlled bidet action and relaxing in the soaking tub while watching trashy Lifetime movies (there's a built-in TV in the bathroom mirror). Erm, self-care. If you're looking for a quiet oasis on your next business trip, staycation, or self-care trip, look no further than The Clement!

I decided to surprise the kids on a weekend getaway before Christmas. I was doing quite well all things considered. After starting a new job my life practically changed - not just the financial aspect of it. About 2 weeks before our reservations a survey was emailed to me. It's basically allowing the hotel to know a little about you and why you are there, any special requests and the likes. As soon as we pulled in the operations manager greeted us and congratulated me on the new venture. The check-in process was fairly quick and personable. I forgot the gentleman's name but after a quick tour of the lounge area, dining area, 24/7 pantry, the rooftop pool, and finally our suite we heard a doorbell. I opened it and came 2 very sweet guys bringing us the chocolate cake and chocolate milk I had requested. We were in awe w/ our suite. We loved the TV in the bathroom mirror, the Toto toilet, the beautiful bathtub, and spacious and modern shower stall. I loved the personal touch... the sand fixture welcoming us, the personalized letter welcoming us, and the snacks they filled the basket w/ things I have requested. It was time for lunch. + Tess ordered the burger + Gavin ordered the cheese quesadilla + I ordered the adult grilled cheese w/ house-made chips I think the kid's quesadilla looked a little sad but otherwise we had a very pleasant lunch. We then went back to our suite to relax and have another slice of chocolate cake (super rich and moist.. delicious!). I then took a nap unknowingly and woke up to see the kids relaxing and enjoying themselves. I tried to take a bath but after 5 minutes of just sitting there I took a shower to get ready for dinner. I really liked the bath salts... gave me that luxurious feel. We then went downstairs to dinner. + 2 kid's tenders (really good.. I stole some from Gavin) + poke nachos (fresh and delicious) + the beef something (really tender) I wish I had the appetite to grab Tin Pot Ice Cream from their 24/7 pantry but I was too full yet I couldn't stop eating the chocolate cake that we had upstairs. When we walked back into our room Gavin said, "my stuffed animals" then I wasted no time to tell him I left them on the bed. When I looked up I saw our bed made, the stuffed animals placed cutely next to each other in the front of the pillows, and 2 towel-like mats that said "goodnight" next to each side of the bed. Wow. The TV was programmed to be personable. I loved it. + the waffle + salmon eggs benedict + side of sausages + made my own omelette Perfect breakfast delivered to our room promptly at 8AM. It was a great post-workout meal since I found myself at the gym at 6AM. The gym is small but incredibly luxurious. If you do not have headphones or earphones, they have it! If you need phone chargers, they have it. If you can play the guitar you can bring it to your room to enjoy it. Each room has a guitar picked on the nightstand for your musical pleasure. Even my checkout experience was awesome. Thank you for the departing gift. My kids and I will never forget this experience. I will strive to stay here every 3 months because even though my colleague joked that I spent that much money to sleep (I took several naps). Little does she know my kids and I have been sleeping on the floor, now upgraded to a futon not too long ago. We move to our first apartment in 2-3 weeks. Hard work does pay off. I wish I can give the hotel and their staff 10 stars.

My cousin had a Christmas party here last Saturday. This is a small but nice hotel. You can't come inside the hotel unless you are a guest....meaning...doors are locked and you better either be a guest or an invited guest by someone who is staying at their hotel lol. The staff are very friendly and very helpful. They had their lounge area and out door area set up for the party with different wines and champagne to choose from. They also had different trays of appetizers to choose from. Very yummy, especially their Lobster Bisque. I'm sure we were a little overwhelming at times for the staff with ordering a ton of drinks and more appetizers but nonetheless they were still very nice and helpful lol. I would totally consider staying at this hotel just because of how friendly their staff is. Great job, The Clement!

We returned for a second visit with our kids this time around and the stay was as impeccable as the first. We felt so at home and there was literally no one else at the roof top pool during our stay which was amazing! The menu didn't change much from our first visit but it was fine. The food was good, the drinks were amazing and the service was top notch. We will return again and again! Thank you for making our so wonderful. Our kids loved it. They also gave us a mini chocolate cake for our daughter's 3rd birthday. We enjoyed every single minute of our stay. We will be back soon.

I so wanted my long-awaited stay at The Clement Palo Alto to be perfection. I wish I could give it the five stars here, but I just can't due to service lapses. It's expensive, but it's all-inclusive of your food and drink and valet, and no additional tipping. I don't drink alcohol, so that aspect of the hotel's all-inclusive side is wasted on me. If you're a drinker, you'd definitely feel like this is a better value. ;) First, the good: - room is beautiful - bed is heavenly - black out blinds work great, I wasn't awakened with the sunrise ;) - the televisions are ridiculously large :o - mini-fridge in the room was stocked with various beverages as requested in a survey I filled out before my arrival - snack basket had some tasty treats (including things I mentioned in that survey), but oddly the only chocolate they had was a milk chocolate coffee and nut item (and I detest coffee) (and yes, I asked if there was any dark chocolate around and was given another package of these milk chocolate coffee things) - large soaking bathtub was aaaaaaaawesome - separate glass-enclosed shower was also great, and I appreciated how open and large the bathroom was (not at all cramped) - service in the dining room was very efficient and friendly - Cynthia was working both days of my visit and was awesome :) - when ordered from the dining room, food came out very quickly and exactly as requested - most of the food was amazing... --- seared scallops were perfection --- roasted duck was amazing and I loved the drizzle --- goat cheese agnolotti were light and flavorful (but the lobster on the plate was painfully overcooked) --- french toast was omg sweet overload but so tasty! --- tin pot creamery ice creams in the pantry were great, when available the less than good: - calling the front desk from the room or the rooftop deck was often an ordeal, with the phone ringing for a long time and then sometimes not even speaking with someone at this hotel - no staff regularly checking on the rooftop pool area - in particular, dishes weren't cleared away after people left, so you had to clean off the tables if you wanted the cabana. Inexcusably, the people in cabana next to me had left (a huge mess) at 3pm and their cabana was still uncleaned when I came back up at 7:45pm for sunset. - towels ran out and there were no bottles of water at the pool for hours on Sunday - I ordered food at 9:15pm, and it didn't arrive until 10:15pm - and even then, the order wasn't correct and I was too tired to try to get it corrected and I hate food waste. - I used the hangtag to pre-order breakfast, with requested delivery between 9:00-9:15am. It came at 9:20, missing a couple of items - one of which was delivered 15 minutes later and woefully overcooked (eggs benedict with hard yolk is sad!) - it took 3 requests to get a bottle of water at the rooftop pool! - unlike other yelpers have posted here, I did not receive any welcome note from the manager, nor personalized stationery, nor parting gift. - there's definitely a problem with how telephoned orders of food get to the kitchen (I saw a staff member write an order down and then walk it over to the kitchen - is there really no computerized order system here?). - some of the food was disappointing: --- beef tenderloin ordered medium rare was delivered to the rooftop pool completely well-done --- the lobster of the pasta appetizer was dried out and overcooked --- the sad eggs benedict with overcooked eggs and also overcooked salmon --- dessert offerings were limited, and the ice cream supply dropped very quickly (no mint it's its during my entire stay, and strawberry ran out too - and the tin pot creamery ice creams were down to just 3 flavors) It felt like the hotel was understaffed, especially given the level of service I expected at this price point.

FAV HOTEL IN THE BAY!! Service was amazing! Food and coffee could improve but still good. All you can eat and drink (including wine/cocktails), personal chef making entrees, unlimited snack bar, 24/7 room service, valet parking, allllll included. Make sure to stay inside to enjoy allll the amenities. I can't wait to go back! It's worth the $$$ esp for special occasions.

Our tasting menu even included a fabulous caviar course!

The Clement is a very special place. From start to finish this is one of the best experiences we have had in a small boutique hotel. Starting with our initial greeting from Vimal and then to our introduction to the very affable owner Clement Chen and the general manager Sebastian, as well as wonderful Gail, who brings guest relations to a higher level, it was an almost perfect stay. There are always minor hiccups at every hotel and they were addressed immediately and resolved. The executive chef Mark Ayres was enlisted by us to prepare a special dinner for us on our Saturday night stay and it was especially memorable. His eight courses were totally delectable and I will post some pictures. Suffice it to say that several of the courses compare to the best restaurants we have ever dined at. The chef has a great pedigree. The suite, although not large, was such an effective use of space and the accoutrements including personalized stationery and fine sheets, large screen TVs as well as a well stocked mini bar and even electric toilets similar to what we have at home and there is an espresso coffee maker and luxury Frette towels and robes, as well. The best part of it all was that everything and I do mean everything was included in the price of the room. Such an unusual and pleasing concept. We will definitely be back.

An Absolutely perfect stay. We will definitely be back. We loved it, our fur babies loved it. Nothing more to ask for. Outstanding service. We are well traveled and The Clement ranks as one of our best hotel experiences ever. Thank you to the fantastic staff. It was such a breath of fresh air.

We stayed here for the 3rd time and the Staff of Clement really do go up and beyond to provide that 5 star service. They deserve it across the board in the following categories: * service *food *cleanliness *Ambiance *privacy *accommodations I can go on.. All I know is that this is our to go spot for all of our staycation trips and I highly recommend them to all travelers and locals. Clement is the true definition of "Top Notch"

Unbelievable staff!! Outdoor paradise on the rooftop! Sebastian, Gail, Tania and the staff are unparalleled to any other hotel staff. We are in love with the passion here. Hooked forever.

Modern design with some mid century modern style metal bars, decors, and motifs. Front desk sells glass bottles of Evian water if you want to have something fancy. It is not quite in the Stanford part of Palo Alto but is a quick uber ride or a drive away. Perfect for reunion, campus event or silicon valley tech events. We stopped by for a staycation. Loved it. Beautiful, boutique, well designed, also minimalist, efficient - perfect for a business trip

Staff here are friendly and nice. Restrooms are clean and modern! Last night I came for the jazz night in their lounge. It was Terrigal and Tamara that were performing, and they sounded lovely! I truly enjoyed the music for the night. My gal friend and I first sat at a sofa nearby the stage, and we kept smelling farts. Someone nearby kept letting it rip. Not okay. Eventually halfway through the jazz night, we relocated to a couch towards the back where there was less people. But then the people who was sitting close to us followed and sat on the couch next to us too. Lol We both enjoyed a glass of wine, and it was good. I definitely recommend coming here for their jazz night. It seems to be happening every other Friday. Since one of my girl friends couldn't make it last night, we'll be coming again for the next jazz night on March 27th. :) I definitely recommend parking on San Antonio to save the $10 valet parking fee!

But the acoustics of the room are terrible, and the sound system provided by the band was sub-par. This is yet another case where the construction skimped on acoustic treatment. Because of the bad acoustics, I don't think I would recommend the jazz nights. If you go, you can either pay $10 for valet parking, or you can park across the street on San Antonio Road and walk over.

I do not want to use the pool or fitness center. Pretty grounds with lots of flowers and a fountain. Well maintained. Room was huge! King bed. Small couch. A table to eat at and two chairs. Microwave and fridge, coffee maker. Fake powder cream. Nice shower with only one glass door, but water didn't go everywhere. Only one big towel per person. There were robes in the closet we didn't use. The USB ports were tucked into the left or right sides of the bedside table. Extremely comfortable king bed. I slept great. Blackout curtains! Breakfast adequate. Coffee. (No real cream). Tea. Pastries. A mini quiche. Oatmeal. Fruit. Yogurt. Dry cereal and milk. We were on the end of a building and the metal gate to the courtyard was attached to our wall outside. Everytime someone closed it, it was A loud BANG in our room. We also did hear people upstairs walking around and in the room next door arguing. Most noise stopped after 10pm. We will definitely come back here, just not ask for room 129.

We always tend to avoid inns whenever we look for hotels when staying places. However, the Stanford website recommended we stay here since it was nearby their location. Can I say, OMG, it blew my mind. I am second guessing all my hotel choices because I should have also been looking at inns! The front desk workers were nice and welcoming when we arrived that evening, and when they had breakfast in the morning, it was nicely set up and had a good amount of pastries and some additional continental items. They also have a free water filter machine near the front office, which was great for us to fill our water bottles for the day. The bridge over the creek was so cute! We got to walk over it a few times going back and forth to our room. The room was clean, and luckily I didn't see any bugs like I saw previous reviews mention. One other perk is they have free EV charging! Being an EV driver, this comes in handy when I can have a charge to head home the next day without needing to make an additional stop. I wish we had a little more time to relax in the room and sit outside to enjoy the creek, but we were on a time schedule, so here's to next time, we'll have something to look forward to.
