Stayed here for two nights while moving my college freshman (I'm now officially an empty nester!) onto Stanford campus, and while the accommodations themselves were quite satisfactory, there was a recurring issue with our room keys failing to work that took away from the overall experience. To be fair, each time we had to go back to the front desk to get one or more of our cards rekeyed, staff was quick to do so. In general, service at the hotel was great, including valet parking charging our Tesla for us. Pro tip: use the app (Hotel Citrine is part of the Marriott Bonvoy program) to make requests and get fast responses - it's very efficient! read more

Hotel Citrine is a chic, trendy hotel accessible via the Marriott program. It has a tiny pool but surprising popular with locals looking for an urban getaway, afternoon kids / family fun outing. The pool connects with an indoor/ outdoor dining area - perfect for a drink (a glass of bubbly perhaps) plus a small bite. The bar area also has free Equator (local North Bay beloved coffee) for patrons. The rooms are small but efficiently designed. Modern design with some mid century modern style metal bars, decors, and motifs. Front desk sells glass bottles of Evian water if you want to have something fancy. It is not quite in the Stanford part of Palo Alto but is a quick uber ride or a drive away. Perfect for reunion, campus event or silicon valley tech events. We stopped by for a staycation. Loved it. I would describe this hotel like a very upscale Element hotel with a much nicer hard product and valet only parking. For example, the bathroom fixtures are noticeably upscale and modern, the furniture and public areas are very nice, the gym has nice equipment but is sparsley equipped. There's even a tea and water station on each floor to help reduce waste. But like an Element hotel, staffing is minimal and many things are self service. There is a bar in the lobby, but it's not going to impress anyone you bring there. Overall certainly a nice place to stay and a newer option in the area. read more

I love to stay at this Hotel when in the South Bay area. It is a part of the Marriott family and shares the same loading, drop off, and valet area as the Marriott AC Hotel. I was looking for a modern, comfortable place near Stanford University and booked a king room here through the hotel's website. Out of all the options, this one seemed like one of the more updated picks, which was a big plus for me! Check-in wasn't the most warm or welcoming experience. The front desk agent wasn't particularly friendly or informative about the property or its amenities. Luckily, the rest of the staff I interacted with were much more helpful, friendly, and responsive throughout my stay. The room was clean, modern, and spacious enough for one person. The bed was comfortable too. I really liked the layout of the bathroom, the walk-in shower, and the full-length mirror across from the bathroom door. That said, water leaked onto the floor when I showered, even after moving rooms due to a loose door lock in the first one, which raised a safety concern. See video for reference. I'd suggest bringing a refillable water bottle, as there's a convenient water station on site. The hotel includes a gym and an outdoor pool area with a fire pit and seating, which is a nice touch. I had lunch at the hotel restaurant one afternoon; the food and service were decent, though nothing memorable. I liked the clean, modern vibe, but next time I'm in Palo Alto or the Bay, I'd probably go with a hotel that's a bit closer to restaurants and doesn't have issues with water leaking after taking a shower. read more

We spent a night at this hotel for date night. The location is very nice and quiet. The staff was also kind and professional. Our room was very nice on the 5th floor with a nice balcony and a relaxing view. It was clean but the toilet wasn't, as it looked like someone finished "using it" upon our arrival. There was also a pretty good sized spider crawling up on the wall by the vent. We had to use a chair to send it to spider heaven and hopefully the cleaning team removed his remains from the corner of the ceiling as it is visibly noticeable. Although we stayed for one night, it was pretty quiet and there was no noise disturbance (not even from the street). Outside of the critter, we had a pleasant stay. Parking is about $30 or so and valet only. There is free street parking (7am - 6pm there is a 10 hour limit Mon - Fri; weekends are unlimited). read more

Absolutely gorgeous California. Perfect hotel! Work trip brought me back to the bay area and this lovely hotel provided respite and the location is where everything that you need or want! Street parking is free, $26 valet is spotty due to the AC hotel across the driveway, which shares the service. Upon arrival, my room was not ready. The hotel agent provided me a $25 credit to spend at the bar or for food. She graciously took my luggage and I went to the bar. I ordered a little gem salad with chicken, and it was perfect. Delicious, perfectly dressed, each bite was satisfying. I would have preferred to be on the fifth floor, however there was a water polo tournament at Stanford, and the hotel was sold out. Needless to say, the hotel was filled with screaming kids! My desire to be as far away as possible from the chaos. I ended up on the second floor towards the back of the hotel, which was super quiet. The room was out, fitted with tons of USB and power outlets, and gave me the productivity to work. I was able to swim, and enjoy the pool, and worked on my base Tan. It was super relaxing and the pool was the perfect temperature. The outside cabanas are comfortable with shade and the lounge chairs, including towel. Service was very thoughtful. I have to say I wished I knew about this hotel sooner because I was in awe of how beautiful this hotel is. I was staying for the weekend of 11/20-11/21 for a music festival taking place at the shoreline. I usually stayed at the Hilton Garden in Mountain View, but that was permanently closed. I found this place was closer and it was a pretty good deal for spending the night. My rate was $140 for the night $22 for valet. Please keep in mind that this place only has valet parking. There is some street parking if you're lucky, but chances are it's probably better to get valet depending on how long you're saying. The price of valet is $22 per day. When we arrived around our check in time 3PM and everything went smoothly. Staff was super friendly and informative. Also check out time is at 12PM. There could be late or early check in time, but you have to call the hotel to see if they can do that for you. Otherwise it's not too bad. Our hotel room was super spacious and clean. I absolutely love the modern feel. We were given a pretty good room on the second floor where there was lots of natural sunlight peaking throughout. The bathroom was so beautiful and the complimentary shampoo, conditioner and body wash smelled like citrus (super fitting due to the hotel name). There's also a restaurant downstairs that's connected. I'd ask the front desk to see when they're open since it seems like their weekend availability may differ. Overall, super modern hotel with nice a accommodations. This was only a 5 minute drive away from the shoreline amphitheater and it was really nice! I'm never in Palo Alto, but I know EXACTLY where I'm staying next time I stay overnight. This is a new hotel, I was drawn to staying because I'm very familiar with crystals in fact citrine is one of my favorites. I was in the area because I went to a local spa and wanted to make my visit into a mini staycation. The staff was so welcoming and friendly. No issues with check in and I got a welcome champagne, which was very nice! The room was cute too. And you don't just get a nice little bubbly drink upping arriving, you also get to chose your own citrine crystal in a cute little pouch and saying. Instantly my favorite hotel and experience ! Bed was soooo comfortable. It was a little weird at first with the tv being on the wall an angle but once I got into bed and started watching tv, I didn't mind it at all. It was perfect distance. You'll have to stay at hotel citrine. Trust me on this. You'll love it. Only thing is, the only have valet parking so be prepared for you to use/pay for valet and request your car when you wish to leave. I enjoyed my stay and I will be back! read more

We spent one night at Hotel Citrine and it was the best hotel experience we've had! Check in and valet was quick and easy, with a complimentary glass of Moscato. The room was beautiful and clean. There was a potpourri making area on our floor and we got a citrine stone at the front desk. Check out was just as easy. The best part of our stay was the hospitality from front desk Sharon and bartender Christina. They were both extremely nice and made our night! The location of the hotel can fool you a little because it's tucked away on a main street next to another hotel. But the interior of this hotel is so cute! We were able to find street parking right in front of the hotel so we did not have to pay. Check in was an easy process and they had complimentary sparkling wine and citrine stones waiting for us. And the front desk was really nice and helpful to us. The hotel bathroom is gorgeous and I would want that in my house, as well as the decor in the rest of the room. There was no room service available but you are able to call and place an order at the restaurant in the lobby and pick it up. There was a full fridge and store to buy items in the lobby as well. We booked our family staycation at Hotel Citrine for the weekend. After being in the bay... Why not explore localities? More of a casually-dressed business hotel than a vacation getaway, but an interesting experience nonetheless. PROS: - Earth-toned, comforting atmosphere - Modern architectural design + playful, unique furniture - Courteous, attentive staff - Generous gym and pool area - The restaurant, Wild Onion, is fantastic - CLEAN. SO CLEAN - Decent location in Palo Alto for travelers - Can visit the AC across the driveway for drinks later at night - Cute snacks + refreshments complementary for each room (boxed water, some Whole Foods ass electrolyte powder, assorted teas) CONS: - Missing some details, particularly in the rooms: - A bulb was poorly covering a square hole in the wall (could see wires and insulation through the hole - Shower door handle was installed poorly and fell off; shower wall also didn't reach the floor and leaked water all the way to the toilet base - Instead of a metal bar near the shower, the only place to hang your towel was on the same small rack that held the hand towels... All the way across the bathroom (prepare to track even more water everywhere) - A large concrete pillar was square in the middle of the living room area. Pretty jarring and difficult to navigate around, esp with a wheelchair. No attempt to cover it or blend it into the decor, either - BRING AN EYE MASK. Whatever the light is (fire alarm?) in the ceiling, it flashes bright white every few seconds, erratically-- I'm a heavy sleeper, and even I had trouble getting to sleep - Paid valet parking only It's okay. For the price point ($300~ weekdays, up to $500 weekends/holidays), I'd expect a little better... read more

We had a pleasant stay at this hotel. As a titanium member, we were upgraded to a one bedroom suite which was fantastic. The boxed water was a lovely touch. My only complaint was I believe we were supposed to get 2 entrees from the breakfast menu but they only allowed us to pick from 1 of 3 options (Greek yogurt, overnight oats and a fruit bowl). This hotel opened up about 1.5 months ago (when I was there) so as with any new establishment, they are trying to work out all the kinks. So taking that all into consideration, I think overall if all the kinks were fixed, it would give it a 3.5-4 stars. Pros: - Conveniently located near the 101 so it makes easy to get to client sites, etc. - Staff at the front desk is very nice & always welcome you back when you walk in (Jinelle is really nice and recalls our name) - Wild Onion bistro is conveniently located in the hotel with indoor and outdoor seating (Our server, Lloyd is the best - always remembering our order and had my tea, milk and etc ready when we were seated - he made each morning very pleasant for us and always remembered the kids Nutella! He works really hard) - Food at the Wild Onion bistro is tasty and have lots of healthy options - Nice fire pit and outdoor lounge area - Double room is more spacious than the 1 king bedroom - Water temperature was good where hot water comes quickly when you need it - The Gym was an adequate size and all the equipment was clean Cons: - Housekeeping was a miss during our 2 week stay here. We would request for housekeeping and they never came - sometimes 3-4 days straight. You need to tell the front desk to schedule a time but even that sometimes got lost - No fridge in the room - Bathroom light turns on (which is great when you walk in, but could wake up light sleepers in the middle of the night) - There's a flashing light near the ceiling that continuously flashed at night so bring your sleep mask! - Pool is quite small (refer to photo) and wasn't heated - Parking is a pain with 5 spaces available on San Antonio Road, however I noticed people started parking on the red zone to avoid paying for valet ($22 a night) - Box water is provided to the room which is great BUT Box water tastes gross when it's room temperature. - No fridge in the hotel room - No coffee/tea maker (for those who rely on it) in the room but they do offer free coffee downstairs by the bar - Scenery outside the room isn't very pleasant and if you face the pool, the music from below may be loud for those on the lower levels. Overall, it was a comfortable stay and once the hotel fixes the kinks, I think it will be ready to go! What I don't understand is that there is a hotel (another Marriott property across the hotel). Perhaps, Marriott should have created 1 big hotel to avoid the limited parking and created a bigger pool area. The valet guys and staff were really nice so that's a bonus! read more

Great hotel if your traveling for business. Very clean & modern design. In room Nespresso machine. Unlimited free bottled water which is nice! No in room refrigerator, but for us it didn't matter we had a cooler. The staff is very friendly & accommodating. They are very welcoming with whatever you need. We had dinner at the restaurant/ bar downstairs. Limited menu, pricey, but had options. This hotel is more of a business style hotel. Not a hotel resort or vacay spot. I'm reluctant to let everyone in on this hotel. I liked that it wasn't crowded even on a big shopping weekend. Service was excellent in both the hotel and restaurant. Room was new, fresh and very attractive. Very well done and comfortable. Restaurant was virtually empty when we ate breakfast there. Food was interesting,well prepared and fairly priced for the quality received. There are large,outdoor spaces with many heaters and a tiny pool. Many spots to hang out and talk, that is, if it's warm.Part of the exterior space is covered I think. Here's the kicker--my room was about $175.00. Such a bargain in Palo Alto. Wow, staying here was a delight from start to finish. They are pretty new and are across from AC Hotel. Everything is aesthetically pleasing and there's so many unique details to the design to appreciate. The staff is kind and helpful. If you grab a balcony room, they are spacious and equipped with everything you might need. They have really thoughtful extras like a Nespresso machine and access to the HBO Max library among other streaming services. Street parking is available if you don't want to do valet. This is the hotel to beat in the area for Marriott properties, rivaling Tetra and Nia. read more

The evening front desk manager not only willingly modified it for us, she gave us complimentary breakfast in the restaurant so we could get on the road and get home safely as soon as possible. Really nice hotel in a great location. If you're in town for a concert at Shoreline, this is a great location to stay. It's under 2 miles from the venue and has a nice vibe. The restaurant (Wild Onion) was actually really good. Open air to the small pool and patio area. The rooms are nicely sized and decorated. Good size bathroom with an extra large shower. Upon check in, we received a couple glasses of complementary bubbly and were gifted a Citrine crystal. Nice touch! Clean facilities and lovely staff. Everyone was so kind and helpful. The only big drawback to this place was the parking situation. Valet only ($22/day) and upon checkout they were slammed (they share valet with the AC Hotel which is across the way. My friend and I stayed here with our daughters for a girls' overnight trip. We were surprised at how CLEAN the hotel was. From the lobby to the elevator, to the hallway and the entire room was immaculately clean. We also loved that the floor of the room was hardwood. Everything worked perfectly and was in perfect shape. My only complaint is what the other reviews mentioned: the smoke detector is BLARING bright at night and so is the green light on the thermostat. They need to tone that down with either a light-blocking tape or with the mode on the unit directly. We also had a nice brunch at Wild Onion downstairs, which was super convenient. I couldn't say the fruits on the pancakes were as fresh as I had wanted; but the service was great and my avocado toast was yummy. I would highly recommend this place! read more

I enjoyed my stay but probably wouldn't stay again unless I was going to Shoreline for a concert because it is 1 mile away and you are better off walking than getting in an Uber!! We go to shoreline all the time and can sometimes take your 45-1 hour to get 1 mile down the road. Valet is your only option for $22 a day, which is not optional unless you want to park on the busy street, and there isn't even much parking. Staff seemed incredibly disorganized, from checking in, to the hotel restaurant to valet, which was the weirdest valet experience I've ever had. They were just running around, no communication, no system they were either shorted staffed due to the concert and holiday traffic or just not communicating with each other. Everyone was nice and helpful though! read more

What a delightful stay! Love the hotel - very different decor from standard Marriott fare - modern and crisp. Mohammad at the front desk at time of check in could not have been more accommodating and wanted to ensure all was well from the time we arrived. Hotel is adjacent to another new hotel - an AC Marriott and it was nice to have a 2nd option for food/drink right next door. All of this was great but the real highlight of our 2-night stay was Nate the bartender at the AC next door. Superb bartender and my husband and I truly enjoyed chatting with him. Marriott's fortunate to have such a great employee who provides exceptional service. We were in town for a concert at Shoreline and it was a do-able walk from the hotel. Food at the Citrine was better than standard hotel fare. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and sincere thanks to Nate for helping to ensure we had a wonderful visit! read more

Our stay at the Hotel Citrine was fantastic! The hotel is so cute with outdoor seating areas, fantastic decor, water stations to fill up in room bottles with water and ice, nespresso machines, free coffee station in the morning and champagne in the afternoon. Nemo was amazing!!! She met us with a smile that was infectious and met our every need. She was always there to help and answer any questions. Nicole was the restaurant manager who took the time to make suggestions and was so friendly and nice. The food was truly enjoyable! The rooms are decorated beautifully and the bathrooms are spacious, well lit and have features that make your stay one of a kind. Definitely book this hotel. You wont regret it!! read more

I misplaced a very personal item and Amy went out of her way to make sure I got it back. Not only did Amy notify me, she kept me informed every step of the way in packaging this item, sending me updates etc. You don't see this type of customer service anymore, and It def did not go unnoticed. I feel because of Amy's kindness I would stay at Hotel Citrine again. I highly recommend this hotel! Nice, clean hotel. Excellent service. I would have given 5 stars except for the following problems regarding lights. Turned off lights to sleep and found the thermostat had a fairly bright green light that I could not turn off, and could not hang a sock over, cuz thermostat was so close to the wall. Also a motion sensor light flashed a fairly bright white light all night every 10-15 seconds or so from the ceiling. Both lights made it hard to fall asleep and stay asleep. Since I discovered these unsettling lights just as I was putting my head on the pillow to fall asleep, I did not have the energy or the patience to try to get hotel to send someone to deal with them. Probably some dark masking tape would have fixed these problems; I recommend bringing some. Consolation prize after a difficult sleep: excellent breakfast at the hotel, especially the salted potatoes. (Breakfast is not free, but there is free coffee in the lobby in the morning. No coffee/tea maker in my room. Pool is extremely small but warm. No jacuzzi.) read more
