Easy check in. I wasn't feeling good and they gave us the room two hours early. The resort fee is kinda silly. How about a parking fee only option? I do not want to use the pool or fitness center. Pretty grounds with lots of flowers and a fountain. Well maintained. Room was huge! King bed. Small couch. A table to eat at and two chairs. Microwave and fridge, coffee maker. Fake powder cream. Nice shower with only one glass door, but water didn't go everywhere. Only one big towel per person. There were robes in the closet we didn't use. The USB ports were tucked into the left or right sides of the bedside table. Extremely comfortable king bed. I slept great. Blackout curtains! Breakfast adequate. Coffee. (No real cream). Tea. Pastries. A mini quiche. Oatmeal. Fruit. Yogurt. Dry cereal and milk. We were on the end of a building and the metal gate to the courtyard was attached to our wall outside. Everytime someone closed it, it was A loud BANG in our room. We also did hear people upstairs walking around and in the room next door arguing. Most noise stopped after 10pm. We will definitely come back here, just not ask for room 129. read more

We stayed at the Creekside Inn for a quick overnight stay before my son's gymnastics competition at Stanford the next morning. We always tend to avoid inns whenever we look for hotels when staying places. However, the Stanford website recommended we stay here since it was nearby their location. Can I say, OMG, it blew my mind. I am second guessing all my hotel choices because I should have also been looking at inns! The front desk workers were nice and welcoming when we arrived that evening, and when they had breakfast in the morning, it was nicely set up and had a good amount of pastries and some additional continental items. They also have a free water filter machine near the front office, which was great for us to fill our water bottles for the day. The bridge over the creek was so cute! We got to walk over it a few times going back and forth to our room. The room was clean, and luckily I didn't see any bugs like I saw previous reviews mention. One other perk is they have free EV charging! Being an EV driver, this comes in handy when I can have a charge to head home the next day without needing to make an additional stop. I wish we had a little more time to relax in the room and sit outside to enjoy the creek, but we were on a time schedule, so here's to next time, we'll have something to look forward to. read more

Stayed here one night to be near Stanford Hospital. Good distance with lots of business and food options near by. We were in room 105, I really liked how convenient it was from the parking lot. Cute little walk way with seating. Room was clean and spacious. Shower head had an aggressive stream. Housekeeping did try to enter at 8:30am, I felt like that was entirely too early for them to be knocking but other than that we had a nice stay. My partner and I reserved a Deluxe King Suite room for two nights in Palo Alto, CA. The Creekside Inn stood out to us because of it being a cute little spot built on a creek. The customer service was very good and professional. The pool was very nice, clean, and secluded. The pool is also heated so you can swim in colder weather or at night. The room itself was very clean and open. The bed is big and comfortable. The bathroom was clean and offered a lot from complimentary toiletries to a makeup mirror. The shampoo, conditioner, and body wash did not irritate my body and my skin felt moisturized. The balcony was cute as it looked over the creek and a little fountain. They offer continental breakfast and fresh pastries each morning. A little deli that serves coffee and sandwiches is attached to the hotel as well. A TV, mini fridge, microwave, closet, and coffee maker are provided. Overall, I enjoyed my stay and my time in Palo Alto :) read more

Shady place. Look at your bill! Reserved a room that came with a full cancellation within 24 hrs of arrival. This was several days before our arrival date by the way. Literally, within a few minutes after initial booking, I read reviews and decided to go with another hotel since I had an early doctors appointment at Stanford in the morning and wanted to book a place that didn't have so many negative reviews. I cancelled and also received a cancellation confirmation email almost immediately. Now, over a week later, I see on my credit card, they originally put in to cancel the charges and then took it away charging the full price. I have a screenshot of the cancellation! If I hadn't looked, I would have been charged the full night stay that I never had. Very shady business! Absolute attempt at fraud! Cozy hotel nestled in Palo Alto. It sure does have a creek, although it's currently dry there is a bridge and it's still pleasant to the eyes The staff is hospitable and friendly. Cheery actually I arrived at night and honestly was a bit worried since under the cover of nightfall gives the illusion of a motel. The room left much to be desired, old with a very old direct tv remote that I remember from my childhood. The bathrooms are redone which I was most scared about. It has a pool and very scenic walkways to be enjoyed during the day. I've enjoyed walking the grounds and sitting at all the little seating areas outdoors The creek side restaurant/deli can make a mean sandwich and soup combo - I deeply enjoyed. Overall they passed my expectations. Arrive during the day however to be able to enjoy it for what it is. I would recommend. This hotel is absolutely amazing. Not only are the staff very professional and kind, but the amenities are amazing like a complimentary umbrella and robes and a microwave and tv and clean bathrooms and rooms and beds. Not to mention a complimentary continental breakfast in the morning!! Prices are pretty good too. I really enjoyed my stay. I was very comfortable. Now don't even get me started on the landscaping-- it felt like a little tucked away resort. Like I was on a mini vacation; didn't even feel like I was in Palo Alto! Amazing. January 2026 I had thee worst experience and it could have been easily avoided. I called the hotel day of check in (which wasn't until 3 pm) at noon to explain there was an emergency with my infant son and they claimed it was third party (Expedia) who was in charge of full refund not them. So I called Expedia and they said they understood my situation and would waive the fee for cancellation day of. Fast forward to the next day my request was denied by Creekside inn so they lied about not being able to help me. My son had a successful open heart surgery the very next day and we were selected Monday at noon to check into Ronald McDonald which is 4 min away from my son at Stanford children's hospital free of charge. Vernette and Anna were completely heartless in the matter. Shoutout to Jesus at the desk who tried everything in his power to work with Expedia and I during that unforeseen time. Unfortunately I do not recommend staying here do to their lack of compassion for their guests I was fully charged a day for my troubles. So I only received a partial refund not the full refund that Expedia and myself worked toward achieving. read more

I recently had to book for a few days when our water heater broke. The hotel itself is pretty old with a weird smell, but the room and bathroom were clean enough. At checkout, we were surprised with an amenities fee. This is a mandatory fee they charge to all customers with or without their knowledge, and regardless whether amenities were used or not. Why not just advertise the real price of the room including the amenities fee? Why switch and bait and sneakily add that fee at the end of the stay? It was a pretty lame tactic and leaves me with a bad impression of the hotel. read more

The highlight of our stay here was the front desk service, and the gorgeous view of the garden. Seeing that lovely scenery each morning was something I would imagine the Garden of Eden may have looked like. My wife could not stop talking about it, and we even managed a good amount of photos on that beautiful wooden bridge. Upon check-in, we were treated well and with respect. The people at the desk were friendly, and our time at the desk was fairly quick. The reason why I gave this a 3 instead of a 5 star review is because of something that worried us: We placed a "DO NOT DISTURB" sign on our door when we left for the day, only to return to a room that had indeed been "disturbed". Allow me to clarify - the cleaning team they have is great. They cleaned the room in the same way we saw it when we got there. While we appreciate the service, we did not want anyone in our room. Next to that, when we returned to our room, the strong smell of bleach was overwhelming, and aside from the hard to reach bathroom window we eventually climbed up to and opened, it was hard to sit in the room. It is my expectation that when the "DO NOT DISTURB" sign is placed on the door, that it applies to staff as well. I hope that this is something they look into. If you are looking to stay here, it is important to know that the walls, at least in Building H, are quite thin and you can hear everything. EVERYTHING. So just be mindful of that and if sleep is truly important to you, be sure to have some earbuds. We enjoyed our stay here, but we hope that things may improve before we decide to stay here again. read more

This property was affordable and very close to Stanford University so met all my needs. It was clean, the staff was friendly, & they even offer a free bottle of wine. Beds were comfortable, towels were good quality and overall I wouldn't mind staying here. Now the cons: there was definitely a funky smell to the room. Not exactly a horrible one, but a funk nonetheless. The wine, although a kind gesture, you get what you pay for, lol. I also could not get the shower amenities to pump out. I personally don't like using the amenities with pumps but was really curious how they smelled with the names. None of these were deal breakers. We found Creekside Inn several years ago after our son became a patient at Stanford & we have come to view it as a haven from stressful days at the hospital. We have visited here often over the years & been happy with each stay. The grounds are beautiful, relaxing & serene. Our standard room is always clean with very nice amenities. They are kind enough to offer a 'Stanford' rate which is extremely helpful & it's an easy drive to Stanford. The deli next door has great food & they are always friendly. This is a great find in pricy Palo Alto. I have only one complaint and I'll get to that later. The facility is top notch. Large leafy trees, buildings widely spaced, a comfotable swimming pool. My room was very nice - large room comfortable bed, no desk but a round table tha was fine. All the furniture was comfortable and clean. The bathroom is modern with a walk-in shower. Here's my issue - the shower only has the overhead "rainfall" shower head so if you don't want to get your hair wet (drenched) - sorry bucko you're SOL. No disposable shower cap, either. So if you don't mind the "rainfall" shower, GO FOR IT! You won't be disappointed. read more

I am dealing with a high risk pregnancy and Stanford relocated me and put me in this hotel for two days. It is clean and pretty, but it leaves a lot to be desired. The first day we put the "do not disturb" sign up on the door because I was uncomfortable with anyone coming into the room with my medications and stuff.... They still came in and did maid service in the room regardless of the door tag being up. Then today, check out isn't until 11AM. We went to breakfast at 8, and took our luggage downstairs (we were on the 3rd floor) and again, high risk pregnancy so we're trying to make a few trips as possible. We left 3 floral arrangements, a fridge full of snacks and drinks, and some personal items in the room to grab after breakfast. We got back at 9AM and all of our stuff was sitting outside. Literally anyone could have came by and taken it, rummaged through... all the cleaning service said was because we didn't leave the "do not disturb" sign up. When they ignored that the previous day why would we put it up again? And when I called the front desk all they could tell me was since there was no luggage they thought we weren't coming back and we're going to take everything to lost and found. If checkout isn't until 11, why is room service going into the rooms before hand? We had not been to the lobby to checkout and expected our stuff to be safe in our room while we had breakfast. I am flabbergasted that there wasn't even an apology? Just well we thought you left. We were planning on leaving at 11 when checkout was because we were waiting on availability from the Ronald McDonald house. read more

The trip started out rocky as we had reserved 3 rooms and had Family coming from London, Seattle and Los Angeles and somehow the hotel had only reserved one room for us all. However, once we contacted the manager she resolved the issue and we were very pleased with the accommodations. The service was good, the rooms were clean and the grounds of the hotel are quite nice. Staff are friendly, felt clean and safe. Having the deli there is a solid plus. The gym could use with some updating and TLC but it is good enough! Coffee and continental breakfast was good too. The room was decent. Neighbors smoked openly on neighboring patio and when I notified management they did nothing to address the issue. My kid has asthma. An 'amenities fee' of $15 appeared on my credit card statement three days after my stay though we used no amenities. I was not told about this fee at booking, check in, or checkout. This is the exact type of fee that was made illegal by SB 478 on July 1st 2024. I called management and they reversed it but only after pointing this out. I've been coming to the Creekside for years. Alas, can no longer recommend. A new restaurant has moved onto the premises and has taken over ALL of the parking in the hotel, especially on weekends. There is no designated parking for either guests or the restaurant. The Creekside is self parking only and they cannot/will not guarantee parking for all of their guests. After a long day caring for elderly parents, I'm not in the zone to circle around the complex, dodging cars doing the same thing. It's terrible customer service and will no longer be staying at the Creekside. read more

This is a literal GEM of a hotel. It's honestly one of the very few places that feels MORE comfortable than home. The hotel was very clean, the beds were extremely comfortable, and it was the most reasonably priced place we could find in the area. The grounds themselves are a literal garden - hydrangeas and trees all around. Pure greenery. We had our own little outdoor patio that was completely surrounded by greenery and very private. The hotel was quiet, and we slept very very well. They have a fine dining restaurant on location, as well as the best little deli I've ever been too (Driftwood Deli). The Deli delivers to your room for free! Wifi was fast, and literally I have nothing but great things to say about this spot. We have stayed here once before, and will stay here again. I had an early morning appointment at Stanford so this hotel was perfect. My hubby time to drop me off and be back to our room for his morning conference calls. The room was clean and the grounds are so pretty and relaxing. Check out time is 12pm, which worked to our advantage because due to covid, Stanford only allows patients and caregivers in the hospital. Hubby got to work in our room until a little after 12pm before he had to pick me up. We will definitely be back. read more

Bad sleep (thin walls) and bad experience with staff member. When I first checked-in, I asked for an additional night. I was told nothing was available. Fine, that's fair. Two hours later my colleague who also needed an additional night walked in and miraculously got a the same additional night. Okay, maybe that could happen, but not really. Next day I called in and asked if something opened up for an additional night. I was again immediately told nothing is available with a tone of complete indifference to my dilemma. It didn't feel right. So I went online that very next minute and guess what: found availability and booked the additional night. So what happened here? Now comes the bad sleep. I could feel (yes, feel) the vibrations of snoring from the room above me. When I got my next room, I thought I'd escaped. No, I could hear the tv playing all night from the room in front of mine. So expect thin walls and hope for quiet neighbors. Otherwise the area itself is quiet and the beds are soft. read more

For the price, I was expecting more. My room had a terrible odor to it, and at night you could see outside even with the door closed because there's a good 1/4" gap all the way around it. There were guys outside being loud all night and there were no spare blankets despite the bed having only a sheet and one blanket. I was there on business, but the restaurant opens at 8:30am, much too late for a normal start during the week. For $350 a night, I've stayed in MUCH better hotels. I would not recommend this hotel for more than $99 a night. read more

Super nice place for an older hotel. We no longer live in Palo Alto, but I know this hotel has been here since at least 1991. Spacious room. Nicely updated and very clean. We would definitely stay here again. The linens and towels were nice. Refrigerator in the room was unexpected and helpful! Also a small microwave and pod coffee maker. We had a balcony with two chairs that opened up to a private green area. What was great was that we could leave the balcony screened door open all night for fresh air. The room was very quiet - a benefit of older construction. Our room was near El Camino Real, but even with the window open all night the traffic noise was minimal. Not too much traffic on El Camino since everything in Palo Alto closes at 8 or 9 pm. Lol. We'd definitely stay here again, especially for the price we got on a booking site. Why not 5 stars? Only because we've stayed at the Four Seasons Hualalai. Now that is 5 stars. read more

The front desk clerk misprogrammed my key card -- twice, so every day I had to go back and get it reprogrammed. Posting this for my daughter who doesn't have a yelp account - her accord of what happened: Was driving from Southern California and needed somewhere to spend the night for one night before continuing our trip. With my husband and our infant daughter. The person at the front desk was very nice and explained everything well. When we went into our room, it had a weird almost like mildew/smoke smell. Right away we noticed the dead moth that was on the wall, my husband removed it and flushed it down the toilet, but then we noticed more dead bugs around the room, along with live ones - and with our infant daughter this was absolutely not ok. I went to the front desk and asked to switch rooms and told him the reason why. We didn't even get a "sorry", he just said ok (as if he wasn't very surprised) and switched us to another room. I asked for a double bed instead of the one bed as we decided to put my daughters travel crib on the spare bed as we didn't trust the floor, and was charged an additional $22 to upgrade to 2 beds. Normally I would think it's fine, but we were switching because of an issue - so I thought they would at least comp the price. Get moved to the second room - doesn't have the weird smell which is nice. In terms of cleanliness, it still had dead bugs near the smoke detector that again my husband removed as it was hanging. One of the beds had toenail clippings on the side of the bed, and the other bed had hair on it. We at this time figured there is no point in complaining again as it just doesn't seem like any of the rooms are clean, and it was late and we needed to get our daughter fed and sleeping for the night. Carpet also felt wet. Bathroom had hair on the walls and inside the shower that matched the hair on the pillow cases. Only reason I'm giving this 2 stars is it was a quiet night with no disruptions - but cleanliness is a serious issue with having to switch rooms because the first one wasn't clean, hoping maybe it was just a fluke, but then moving to the second room and it's still dirty. If you have a newborn or infant, I wouldn't bring them here. The heater is placed horribly in the room. It's right next to one of the beds, and the heater is blasting you the whole time to the point you're waking up sweating, but with it being 34 degrees outside, we had to keep it on. Not sure why they would place a bed infront of the heater. Doesn't really circulate the room properly because the bed is blocking it. At around 8:20am we were awoken to what sounded like a hammer or power tools right next to us which is incredibly annoying and woke up our sleeping daughter. We're only here for one night so we're making do with it, but definitely wouldn't stay here again. They charge $15 for a resort fee which I don't understand why. The reviews on hotels.com gave this place 9/10 rating, maybe back in its prime, but definitely not now. Housekeeping definitely needs to be better as these rooms look like they're barely cleaned. read more
