My wife and I, with our 2 children, have been members of this beautiful store for 3+ years since we moved into this area. I have lived on the Peninsula since 1984 and aside from traveling the western states for a few years it's been my home. We love this store because those that work here have always been friendly, professional and knowledgeable. Our children enjoy getting an Apple, Bananas or Carrot while we shop. The prices here have always been competitive with the "box stores". This is a great aspect when considering where to shop. To have fruit, produce and meats feom local farms at a reasonable price is one of many reasons we enjoy shopping here at the Co-Op and were quick to pay for the lifetime membership. Yesterday (19 Sept 2025) my wife and I went in for grocery shopping and everything seemed like a normal shopping experience we've come to expect. My wife has been enriched to finally have a service dog that goes with her medical conditions from her service in the Navy. She decided to stop having her service dog wear his vest and goggles (both were part of his suit as he was trained in both while he was a K9 for the police in Pocatello, ID). It was overwhelming for her to have people approach her and talk to her about her k9 (never seeing one so well trained, how cute he looks in his vest goggles, etc.). My wife was asked on 19 Sept if her k9 was a service dog by a lady who works at the Co-Op and she must have been a new hire as my wife and I haven't seen her working before yesterday. Most of the people who we interact with that work in the store all know my wife's service dog by sight and have the respect to not engage regarding our k9 in an invasive manner. The lady last night was not respectful, rather she treated my wife as if my wife was lying to her about our k9 being a service dog. Then after we got in line to checkout my wife realized she wanted an onion and a man stocking the produce stopped her and abrasively asked if the k9 was a service dog. My wife did not rest well and felt mentally off the rest of the evening. I realize it is important to keep pets outside of an establishment that offers fresh fruit, produce and other foods. It would also seem important with such a diverse array of people that frequent this store to have those working there know the importance of being professional, respectfu and tactful l when approaching anyone for any reason. Especially when it may be an interaction with someone who may have a service dog with them. Sadly people cannot teach someone how to use their intuition. I've seem many pet dogs, most of which are not trained well enough to be in any building. My wife's service dog is off/on leash trained, he's in tune with my wife's needs intuitively and never leaves her side even when we are home he next to her. It is a great comfort knowing that my wife has a k9 that can be there to protect her and keep her safe should any medical condition arise. My wife is now contemplating on whether she will be coming back inside the store as the stress created from the disrespectful manner has not allowed a restful night. I believe our new course is that she will no longer answer any questions from either staff or those who shop here. I will stand in for her so that she doesn't feel socially overwhelmed by those who choose to be disrespectful in their approach. read more

My wife and I have always had a nice experience here. The staff have always been more than friendly and we have always loved looking at the VAST vast selection of items. When we do come here we actually go for the toys. We love to shop local and they have a pretty decently sized toy selection and they sell really good brands like Hape, Tonka, Melissa and Doug, and Green Toys. I will say they are a bit over priced (this is the reason for 4 stars) and you could sometimes get a toy cheaper just buying directly from the manufacturers website. But as I said we love to support local businesses and they sell the toys we like to buy for our son. And like I mentioned the staff are really nice. This last trip we were going right before close and someone was vacuuming and my son is not a fan of loud vacuums. So the lady noticed that stopped the vacuum and then had a conversation with him about his new toy. It was a very good experience. read more

This is the cheapest place around to refill. $1.66 today. previously check at the local major supplier- it was 50 cents a gallon more. Those rental refills at X and U were over 2$ per gallon. Just go to the refill station, push the button and a yard guy will be out to take care of everything. Also, Washington State has some recurring tank inspection fee - every few years - so don't be surprised. read more

The selection for "real" people here is lacking. The positive: Convenient propane fill ups, still have much needed vaccines for livestock. Clean store and nice cashiers at the checkout. Cons: location, I say this because the inventory reflects the fact that their location is catering to those visiting Sequim, not those actually living here. What's with the trinkets, Hallmark cards and taffy? I need fencing and chicken feed people! Another con would be the prices here! My goodness what's happening? Are you paying a premium for your location and passing it onto the customer? Enough said, if you're living in Sequim and need feed, alfalfa, fencing or other "farming" items just hit up Leitz feed for no Bologna service and better prices. read more

The last time I went to the store, about a month or two, I bought a couple items and headed to the register. The same stupidvisor (previously I said "manager" but he is definitely not a manager. I can tell by the piece of junk he drives) sent his worker after me, even though there were two cashiers at the front. The worker told me he can open a register for me. He insisted and I put the items on the counter, he gave me my receipt and I left. Ever since, I have been bombarded with Republican BS text every single day and it hasn't stopped. I have strong reasons to believe that the stupidvisor, and I'm sure others participated because they are iceholes too, stole and gave away my information in retaliation after the bad review I posted. These " go brandon" knuckle heads are the worst. For more context read my review from 05/16/22 below: - RACIAL PROFILING - I like to give everyone the benefit of the doubt but this has been happening every time I go to the store. One time I was there getting some items and they (manager and/or supervisor) sent a employee to the opposite isle to eavesdrop on me and my wife. The employee was too dumb to not make it too obvious and he did it twice. Even my wife, who is white, noticed it. The second time, I went there to buy dog meds and when i was done i proceed to register #2 (or #3) since the register #1 was busy. As soon as I get there the cashier greets me but the customer service supervisor (older woman who is in the costumer service booth) called her on the walkie-talkie and in a matter of seconds she gets to the register and tell the employee that would take care of it. In fact, every time I come to the store she is staring at me and monitoring what I'm doing. So the fact that she switched with the cashier that day tells me that she is trying to "prevent theft from a colored person." The third time, which was on 05/12/22, between 12pm and 1pm, we talked to an employee outside so he could help us with some fencing. He figured out the price and we followed him inside to pay. We entered through the "emergency door" which was opened by the employee, and my wife went ahead with the employee to pay. As soon as I get in the customer supervisor keeps staring at me, picks the phone up and in a matter of seconds a manager is blocking my way and says " is there anything I can do for you." but in reality he means " I am here present looking at you, person of color." In the pass, I worked in retail and witnessed closely how managers, loss prevention, and supervisor harass, in a subtle way, people of color, and I'm extremely familiar with the tactics and tricks they use. These people at the Co-op are not different. I guess it is true what they say about " small town, small minds." Did I mention that I've spent thousands of dollar on horse fencing, horse mats, dog medicine, toys, treats, tools? I'm always supporting small and local businesses and it makes me happy to see others do the same. But the co-op people need to understand that this is a reciprocal thing. Perhaps these people from the co-op should learn how to do real business and educate themselves. Perhaps read a book, travel, take a online class and learn about other cultures. Visiting Sequim recently and I needed a charcoal chimney. The Co-Op looked like a place that would carry it plus it looked like it might be a fun place to browse. (I love a good hardware/farm store) Also when I travel, I much prefer shopping local stores instead of the local Walmart. I was greeted by a friendly young lady upon entering. She was not familiar with what I needed and told me to go to the furnace section. Nope. Some browsing and I found a small seasonal area with barbecue item and they had what I needed. Perfect. While looking around and checking the store out I came upon another employee who was talking with a couple. She was complaining about all the visitors to town that the Lavender Festival had brought. When she saw me pop around the corner she paused the conversation briefly but continued to complain. I bet the festival is designed exactly to bring tourism dollars to this usually small town and to her employer. I wouldn't want my employees complaining on the floor and especially about potential customers. There are other local businesses in town that were great. Take your business there. read more

I want to like this store but time and time again I've been met with an arrogance by some of the staffing that keeps me away. Recently I called on the phone to see if they had electric poultry fencing and the lady told me she had never heard of it as if I was crazy. "Anything else?" She asked. I suggested she ask someone with more knowledge which she did and came back to say they didn't carry it, in an annoyed voice. The pros. They have a nice varied selection of items. Solid toy section filled with educational toys. All kinds of home garden and feed store type items. Touristy stickers and souvenirs that don't suck. All this considered, after multiple poor experiences, I'd rather shop online and support a small business somewhere else. read more

Been shopping here for the 13 years I've lived here. My partner, now deceased, had a membership, and now I have my own. I love contributing to the local economy, enjoy their inventory of obscure hardware, excellent pet supplies, and nifty clothing and hats. Can't understand the complaints about bad service; I've had nothing but good interactions. Prices are what prices have to be these days; I gladly support whatever they have to do to stay competitive. Since moving to Sequim I've put my money into local businesses. I was spending thousands a year at The Co-op, but no longer! I picked up the fencing panels this week that I had ordered, but after unloading at home had found one of the panels had manufacturer's damage. I brought the panel back after talking to customer service to get an exchange, but they didn't have the same panel, even though I was assured they did. What they did have was one and only one of the next grade of panel with an extra support bar. Instead of making the exchange for good will because I was spending thousands a year I was charged the difference. Never mind I already had nearly $1000 into the fencing I was charged the extra fee of $30 for the panel. I was told that I could wait for another panel, but they had no idea when those would come in. So according to the manager I'm supposed to wait or pay because they sold me a defective panel, and didn't have an adequate supply to make an exchange? The Co-op isn't the only farm store in the area, so I'll take my thousands elsewhere and leave this review as a reminder that a short sighted business isn't long for the community. read more

I like this store - it is an old time hardware store that reminds me of the one my grandparents owned. I also like the idea of shopping local, BUT the customer service is maddening. Every time I'm there, they ask "do you have an account," but when I ask to sign up for one, they say "you have to do that online." Today, I tried to sign up for an account online because I was planning to shop there later today - but there isn't any way to sign up online because when you click "Sign Up," the wheel just keeps spinning. So I tried to call the store to get help. The first person who answered the phone said "hello, hello" and when I responded, he just hung up. The second time I called, a woman answered and said "hello, hello" and when I answered, she apparently didn't hear me because she said "Oh, I'm getting tired of this!" and hung up on me! I called back a third time and she DID hear me, but she said "I'm just tired of no one being there when I answer - it happened lots of times yesterday." When I explained that I WAS there when she picked up, she kept saying "No one is there when I answer" (so how did I hear you say something nasty and hang up?!). When I suggested that maybe the problem is on their end and that they are turning off potential customers, she didn't like that either. So, then I asked, "Can you help me with something please?" and she responded "Okay, if you would just get with it." Seriously?! This is how you treat customers when it is your business that is having the phone problem? I work hard for my money and I'm sure everyone else does too. I really don't mind spending more to buy local, but I do expect that stores will treat me well and appreciate my business. I just don't think that is too much to ask, but apparently the Clallam Co-Op does, so I'll just have to take my business elsewhere. read more

Sure don't know where the negative reviews come from. Unless they haven't paid off y**p. This store is a local favorite. They have always been friendly to me and when I bring him, my pupster too. Most recently went looking for some bizarre metric hardware that an on-line seller neglected to send me for an assemble it yourself bed. The hardware guy was VERY helpful. They didn't have what I needed, but he tried to find something that would work. When he couldn't he aimed to a nearby store (nearby being the next town over, so nearby for Sequim) that specialized in fasteners. Other than that, I've always found what I needed for the garden, the yard and the house here. I've been tempted by their other non-essentials like hats and yard art, but resisted. read more

I shop here on occasion for cat food (they have a good and diverse selection to choose from). They also carry a complement of Mrs. Meyers products, which I use for everything. The store is fun to browse, and has a wonderful selection of Hallmark cards and ornaments, as well as patio furniture, paint, and assorted tchotchkes. But today, I called with a purpose--trying to locate an obscure, old, remedy for my cat. The person who answered the phone couldn't have been nicer or more helpful. She did not have knowledge in that area, but She engaged another employee who did. They didn't have what I needed, but gave me ideas and options on how to track it down. They called me back when they they would. They were generally helpful and concerned. I liked this place before but now I love it. read more

I've had great experiences visiting this store. I'm a local resident and always shop local when I can. Staff is always friendly, and they had the hard to find Wedge-loc product as well as the ever difficult to find gripples that I use for tensioning my livestock fences. Have to strongly disagree with "Cute store but the customer service is horrible." I think the store has very helpful employees and IMO you get what you vibe out. I remember an incident where a CUSTOMER came in and proceeded to scream at a clerk that his special order of a few bolts had not yet come in. I confronted the person and suggested that his attitude was ridiculous and 'what other store would even special order that measly order.' You get what you project and as a former manager of a nursery I recall many 'rude' customers. One learns to avoid them. Good store, not perfect but nothing is. read more

The store is great. Has a large variety of products. Slightly overpriced, but generally I would spend the extra to shop locally. This store however, is an exception. The management is allowed to insult paying customers. I make an effort to shop as locally as possible. This store is great and is run as good as can be. The staff is very knowledgeable and mangers are professional. Not many can compete with Home Depot and Co-op doesn't try to , it does things a little different and has different things, plus farm stuff that you will not see at Home Depot. The store has changed in last 10 years. Still has farm stuff but not as much, also not as much hardward as before. But it is great for some things like irrigation supplies, pet supplies, and lots of general things you won't find at Walmart or Home Depot. read more
