I was in the mood for something casual. Almost forgot about this place. A person who I ran into…read more"check this place out". Wait, I been there! Just not recently tho. So, all the sudden got a craving for it. This is at Beach View Casino off highway 90 near downtown Gulfport. One thing I love about this place. The southern casino is smoke free as the one north side is smoking. Both are adjoining by a crosswalk above the highway. So you need not worry about traffic or the weather. This has plenty of parking in the front. Do not be discouraged by when you go and the parking lot is full. They do offer parking garage nearby on the Southeast or the parking garage and parking lot on the North side. They do offer valet service on the North end for sure. I was not able to confirm valet service for Beach View tho. Just have to walk on over via crosswalk to Beach View instead of Island View on the North side. As you walk up to the front. You are greeted by a friendly staff and security that will guide you to the escalator or elevator to the second floor of the hotel and casino. When you arrive. The casino opens up to various restaurants, casino floor, live entertainment above the bar depending on what day you attend, and the hotel lobby is not far. If you are not familiar with the area. The friendly staff will guide you through. I know it can be overwhelming. Especially with the many cafes, restaurants, and bars. This particular restaurant was in the second floor past the hotel lobby. We were quickly greeted by an amazing staff and the hostess was able to grab a table for us. This is a casual dining experience. Easy access for the disabled. The tables are arranged by booth and chairs combination against the wall and regular tables and chairs in the middle. In my opinion, I do recommend going for a regular table with chairs. The booth combo is interesting setup. Booth seats against the wall has padding on both bottom and back for you. As for the seats are just hardwood with no padding. I did not sit in those personally but noticed a lot of people were asking for a regular table. She was able to sit us in a regular table and chairs. It is no couch, very comfortable, but boasts plenty of padding on top and bottom for your dining experience. Amanda was our server. She was the best! She quickly took our drinks order and asked if we like to start off with something delicious. We told her it has been a while and quickly noticed they offered a daily special. We told her we were on the wrong day. Oops Kidding aside, all looks great and overwhelming. She was able to point out a few dishes and what she was able to accommodate our unique food requests. It was Thursday, so I got the daily special of Blacken Chicken Strips over vegetables. With a choice of gumbo or salad. I opted for the delicious seafood gumbo. We also ordered the shrimp poboy. She asked if we liked it dressed(lettuce, tomatoes, pickles and mayonnaise) ? Also comes with a side of fries. We both washed it down with a some fresh brewed sweet tea. Amanda asked if we like something from the bar. We asked if they would be available as virgin. Unfortunately they were not. Drink responsibly. If you are feeling under the weather. They will see if they have any available rooms or gladly offer to get a ride. She also mentioned that the daily specials will change time to time. So they may not be the same when you return. They were able to bring out the seafood gumbo first. It was delicious and but temperature hot. It did have a little bit of a kick. But not too overpowering. If you want more spice in your life. They offer hot sauce and black pepper at the table for your convenience. However, they provided a small amount of oyster crackers. Amanda mentioned that if I needed more, just ask. They brought out the main course. Let me just say, look fabulous! Definitely tell it was fresh from the kitchen. You can still see the steam from it and smell the amazing food as they brought it to the table. The food was delicious. The blacken chicken was very flavorful and you can definitely taste the spices they used. The shrimp they used for the shrimp poboy was wonderful size. I was not expecting that. Honestly, I thought it would be smaller. That's a good thing. I am glad. No Wi-Fi in the restaurant as you can easily connect to the casino free WiFi. They do not offer a military discount. However, you maybe able to receive discount or promotion with your players? Give they a chance or come back to get reacquainted with this amazing restaurant.

Cashier at takeout register was purposely slow. Walked to the back at least twice for a pack of jelly and I think pack of ketchup. Mostly everyone was getting it to go. Now I understand why, being it was weekday lunch time rush. A lot of locals and local businesses were getting their food for lunch. I thought it was going to be a long wait. However, many people said they already ordered a must picking up. We mentioned it was our first time. Was curious what to get. In honor of the restaurant name and was hungry. They recommended the monster sandwich with provolone cheese over mayonnaise and Cajun mustard. They will dress it up as wish (customized your condiments and toppings) . To round out your meal. They offer either a fountain drinks, bottle drinks, small bag of chips, and a cookie if you desire also. Great area. Plenty of seats. With a picnic tables. If you are a chess player. They have a chess board in the corner. They have a tv in the corner. I could not tell if they off WiFi? Great place to eat and enjoy. Casual dining atmosphere. If you want. Many get their food to go. The sandwich was delicious! I got full fast and was satisfied. Order more than I should have. Order with my stomach. Oops! I eventually finished it. It just took me longer to eat than usual. Not complaining. Make this part of your lunch routine. No military discount at this time.

We went on day that unfortunately was raining; so we time it out when the rain stopped or slowed down. It is nice little restaurant. They mainly offer takeout only. They do have dine in sorta. Is not an inside but a few picnic tables with a cover. The cover is not big enough to block the rain. They have plenty of parking. It is located in small shopping center. As we arrived and walked up. The smell of something delicious brewing! They unfortunately just only accept cash. The menu is conveniently posted on the wall and very easy to read. We just had few people in front of us. I opted for the fried oyster and fried fish (swai) platter. We had to get a shrimp poboy. They are well known for their sandwiches. We also got an order of onion rings and Shrimp Lo Mein. She said our order will take a while. She gave us a buzzer. She advised us we will buzz you when it is ready. We waited in our vehicle. As we paid for it. Just happened a crowd of people showed up. It actually did not take that long to cook. On the way home the smell of deliciousness filled the air. The oyster and fish platter looked amazing and tasty. It came with a small cup of potato salad, roll, cocktail sauce and tartar sauce, hush puppies and a generous amount of crinkle cut fries. The shrimp poboy was large with plenty of large shrimp. It came fully dressed (mayo, lettuce, tomatoes, and pickles) Large order of onion rings. Order of Shrimp Lo Mein. Very tasty! All were so delicious and amazing! Besides the weather. Recommend making this your next takeout meal.

While in town for our yearly vacation, we decided on Woody's Roadside for a quick and easy dinner…read morebased on the reviews and pictures, as well as recommendations from a few locals. Unfortunately we were left pretty underwhelmed with the experience. It's not that Woody's is bad, per se, it just isn't...good. The service was great. Our server, Jaclyn, was very attentive and helpful. She didn't hover but she made sure we had what we needed and was nearby if we had questions or requests. Jaclyn recommended the margarita, which is where things started going downhill. My dad ordered a classic lime margarita and didn't take more than a couple drinks of it. We all tried it and agreed it just had a nasty flavor. Sort of like bad white grape juice? It was weird, and of course there's a little asterisk on the menu that notes all alcohol sales as final. We were unimpressed with that but didn't even try to argue the point. Our food came next. It was actually incredibly fast service, especially considering the 30-top that was seated when we arrived, with their orders given to the kitchen right before ours. Everything was hot and fresh, though not all delicious. Here's a run down of my family's reviews of their food: Build-A-Burger w/ Amer. cheese - A bit too thick and tough like the meat had been slightly overworked, but it had a great flavor and was seasoned well. The edges were burnt and it was well done, not medium well. Good beer-battered fries. Spicy Hawaiian chicken sandwich - Very flavorful and tropical but the toppings made the bun soggy and the ratio of filling to bun was way off, even with ham and lettuce removed. Crab cake tower - The fried green tomatoes and sauce were great, as was the corn bean salsa that came with it. The crab cakes were good too, though nothing special. The shrimp on top were juicy and well-seasoned. Wouldn't go back for it though. Korean pork tacos w/ mac & cheese - They were okay. The slaw included was a bit too sour but the pork was juicy and flavorful. The mac & cheese was too bland. Chicken strips & fries - The chicken tenders were cut wrong so they were hard to eat. I had to cut them up with a fork and knife to get bite-sized pieces that I could chew. They had a good flavor but the technique needs some work. The beer-battered fries have a strange seasoning on them that got more unpleasant the more I ate, but everyone else liked them, so that's probably just me. This is one of my least favorite restaurants we've been to on the Gulf Coast, which is unfortunate because I honestly thought I was going to like it a lot! For the price, I don't think this is a great place, especially because it's pretty out of the way from the main drag(s).
