My sister and I had just visited their Tempe location and were delighted in how similar but different this Changing Hands was from Tempe's shop. Namely, this Changing Hands has a little area for coffee, booze, and bites. Just like the Tempe shop, they have an amazing selection of books and gift items and so much more. I find their prices to be so fair, especially for a fairly small indie bookshop--support small book sellers! We also loved that this shop has a tiny art print vending machine...think of the sticker machines from your childhood that traded quarters for stickers...but cooler!

Like its Tempe counterpart, this store has a fantastic selection and a warm, welcoming atmosphere that makes it easy to spend far more time browsing than planned. I especially loved the poetry section, which was thoughtfully curated and offered a wonderful variety of titles. Beyond the books, there's an eclectic mix of gifts and unique items that make browsing even more enjoyable. The coffee/bar is also a nice touch and adds to the overall experience. Whether you're searching for your next great read, shopping for a gift, or simply looking for a relaxing place to wander, this location is definitely worth a visit.

When we arrived, I realized I remembered this spot from when I was a kid, I just hadn't been back since I was younger. This spot is absolutely STUFFED with books, comic books, VHS tapes and more. You could spend quite a long time wandering around looking at all of the books they have to offer. It can be slightly overwhelming especially if you are looking for something specific as there wasn't really any clear guidance on where to find certain sections. We still had a lot of fun though wandering around and seeing what we could find. If you are looking for the prices, they are written in pencil on the inside of the books. You can find a mixture of mostly used books along with some new books. They have a cute shop cat that you can sometimes spot wandering around, or asleep at the front. The woman who was working the register the day we visited was friendly! They also had a cart out-front with a number of books that were free to grab. There is plenty of parking out-front.

Found this little gem in Phoenix last week when I was on the hunt for a used copy of Song of…read moreSolomon. I called and they said they have the 1984 edition for $6, which was a great price. Once I was got to the store, I had to explore. I think that if one were to regularly visit Books, he/she would find some rare editions and other gems. Also, they had what looked like reproductions of banned book announcements posted around the store: all were of classic novels that we can't imagine not having access to as students. (See photos: Charlotte's Web, Huck Finn, Fahrenheit 451...) They were quite entertaining, in a disturbing way. They had the effect of making me feel so grateful that past efforts of censorship in the US had failed. In 2024, this is still a real threat. Tiny stores like this one are real treasures. Let's keep them in business.

The person rang me up without the discount. I explained that the reason I preordered the book from them was to get the discount. He tried to tell me that I couldn't get the discount because I was picking up the book from the store. And I explained that I had talked to the employee that took my order and she told me I would get the discount. I told him to double check their company website that says the same thing. So he gave me the discount. I believe it to be a good value as long as you can get the advertised discounts. I'm happy with my purchase.

This is a LDS bookstore, but I feel there are many beautiful treasures you could find even if you're not a member of the church. Pictures of Jesus, cute little gifts and more. Prices are fair. I like how friendly the staff is at the establishment; they are always welcoming you with a warm smile the moment you walk in and are happy to answer any questions you have about books. Since I have come to appreciate reading and writing over the years, I enjoy visiting this bookstore because it has a nice, quiet atmosphere, and I have found some interesting books there that I can see serving as inspiration down the road. The last time I visited the store, I noticed an older lady having trouble reaching a book, so I helped her get it, and she appreciated the kind gesture. I always enjoy helping others in need. Another thing I like about this store is its book prices, and I can totally see myself purchasing a book from them in the future. Every experience at the store has been enjoyable, and I look forward to stopping by the next time I am in the Youngtown area.

Had to check it out because other than Barnes & Noble there isn't much in bookstores on the west valley. Tons of used books. This isn't a place for new books. But if you wait a month or two you might find a new book that's been traded in. Their books are in overall great condition. Some of the best condition I have seen for used books. I found a book from my favorite author I've never seen before and a leather bound Louie Lamore book for 10 bucks! The staff is SUPER friendly and they do trade ins up to 33% of the books original value.

Right as you walk in, it's so clean and the space is very chill unlike most cafes that glare music, the music they had was subtle and perfect for remote work. They serve different types of coffee and tea and some baked goods. The space to work was large and didn't have to speed walk to save a spot. The bookstore was well stocked with good books so during a work break, I got some stickers, a new book and a fun little trinket for my purse! Definitely recommend this spot for a nice place to work remotely, sip drinks and eat baked goods. Oh and they also serve mimosas! I didn't order one this time but I will next time!

This spot truly is an indie bookstore, there is a little bit of nostalgia here and of course books. I love hole in the wall indie book stores. There aren't a lot of them out there so I get excited when I find one. I read a mix of genres. In the horror section I saw that they had a Dean Koontz special. I've always wanted to read his work and this felt like the perfect time to start. I bought my first Koontz books today because of this store. I will be back especially for the dogs and the great prices.

A really great selection of all kinds of books, music, video games, and more! Everything here is community-based, with the exception of selections here and there that are brand-new. So a nice way to support buying secondhand items from Phoenix folks, being more sustainable and supporting a smaller business, and overall just a good spot to come explore!
