To sit in an historical place and enjoy the best Perogies I have ever eaten. Perfectly filled, prepared, and served in a delicious butter sauce with sautéed onions. We also enjoyed the Spinach Artichoke Dip with Pita which was full of flavor, as well as the gooey Broccoli Cheddar Soup. I also, enjoy the Salmon with Horseradish sauce over a bed of risotto, and spinach. My wife had the grilled Romain salad which was very unique and tasty. To top it off, I had ordered food delivery and after 2 -1/2 hour wait it never came and I had no dinner. One of the hosts, Jerome found me and I explained and he insisted on making sure I was fed and heated me up a steak and fried potatoes. I was so grateful and it was delicious and way better than the delivery that never came. In the morning I was fed the fluffiest Griddle pancake that was soft on the inside and crispy on the outside served with honey vanilla butter sauce and maple syrup. I also had cheesy eggs toast and sausage. It was all fantastic! I had to take half home it was so filling. I recommend this place to anyone who wants a relaxing night away. The loft features high ceilings and my wife compared it to staying in a treehouse. The room was immaculate and had several amenities, like a coffee pot and a microwave, so one could enjoy breakfast in-house if that was in your plans. There's also an adorable breakfast nook under a window looking out over the trees. Yellow Springs, Ohio is certainly my kind of quirky and lived up to expectations. From Jailhouse, it's a short walk, say five minutes, down to the heart of the town, and the famed Little Miami trail. This is a perfect location for those hoping to enjoy what the town has to offer. Affordable, convenient, and excellent service from the proprietors. Highly recommended.

What a GORGEOUS bed and breakfast, about halfway between Dayton and Columbus, Ohio…read more The Hopkins House - once belonging to the famous painter and former OSU fine arts dean James Hopkins - sits on a charming 200 acre farm in Mechanicsburg, aka the Middle of Nowhere. The house itself... was designed by a ten year old boy. WHAAAAAT. When the original property burned down in 1902, I guess James' brother, Harold, was given the task of sketching out the house. The quirks of a child are apparent in the lacking uniformity and convention of the property - oddly placed windows, no two of which are the same size. A secret desk/workspace. Cute. Prints of artwork of James and wife Edna are scattered throughout the house, along with one original work displayed prominently in the living room. There are a lot of books and scrapbooks strewn throughout. Very interesting stuff for art or history lovers or just the curious. I learned a lot about the history of the house, Mechanicsburg and the Hopkins family in part from what fun young owner Amanda told us when we arrived and toured, in part from books and scrapbooks of history scattered throughout, but mostly from the morning of our stay when I learned so much detail from Amanda's father, who has worked on the farm since he was a child and was friendly with the family. It was so great to hear first-person stories in the house where they happened. There are five bedrooms, each with very different own charm and decor. My favorite of which is known as the Sunrise room, appropriately decked out in cozy sun colors. When I was here, I stayed in the summer sleeping porch off of the Professor's Room and awoke to the most gorgeous sunrise. I wasn't even pissed to be awake at 7am on a Saturday :) In the morning my friends and I took a leisurely stroll around the farm before breakfast. Said hi to some moo cows, chased kitties, took pictures, enjoyed the quiet and calm of it all. Breakfast was SO good. Local eggs, sausage and potatoes seasoned with local herbs, french toast, yogurt, fresh fruit, delicious coffee and orange juice. The gorgeous tin ceiling in the dining room kept catching my eye while I was stuffing my face! I'm totally not a country person. But getting away here for one night was calming and serene. A perfect place to escape to for locals, or to visit while passing through. Rates range from $59/night up to $179/night for a suite that can sleep 6 people. Obligatory disclaimer: I totally stayed here for free. (Be jealous.)

The event was held in the main barn, and below the event space there is a beautiful suite for overnight stay. The suite features a full kitchen, spacious living and dining area, and a large bedroom with a huge bathroom with beautiful stone walls! The wedding was a wonderful success, and the venue is the reason why. The staff is incredible and professional. Photo opportunities on the property are almost endless, and span a variety of styles. I absolutely loved my time here, and I am already planning a stay for myself and my husband.

The House was dripping with history, the décor was so amazing, I found myself just sitting and looking around as if I were sitting in a history book photo. We were there on a bike trip with another couple. The house is right off the Xenia Paths. They had secure storage for our bikes and a place for them to plug in. The price was more than reasonable. If you're looking for a B&B, do yourself a favor and book this place. We WILL be back.
