I made an appointment a 6:00 PM appointment for yesterday, to see Alicia before she leaves on a trip. I went through the website, chose my time, selected my stylist, doubled checked everything, and hit confirm/send/whatever button finalizes the transaction. An email confirming this arrived soon after. I put it in my calendar. All done, right? Apparently not. After driving 30 min to get here I was informed I did not have an appointment. I explained exactly what I did and was then gobsmacked to hear that after I book an appointment online the email I got has a code in it that I then need to enter online in order to REALLY confirm the time slot. Then, after that's done you apparently get 2 more confirmations before your appointment. You'd think this is scheduling surgery or something. This has got to be the most inane, idiotic approach to scheduling I have ever seen. Everywhere else on the planet, when you hit CONFIRM, that's that. You're in. Why am I, the customer, who made an appointment, being asked to do so much work just to keep it? But what if I don't show up, you're asking? H&N has my CC on file, so if the policy is you get charged if you don't show up, and I've acknowledged that somewhere on their site or by simply booking the appt, then that's on ME. Luckily, Alicia was able to get me in after first agreeing the stay late, but then her last appt canceled so I got in sooner. But if I had driven all that way just to be told my appt I definitely booked wasn't going to happen for a WEEK... this review would've had a harsher tone. I'm not jumping through a series of hoops to keep an appt I made and if that's going to be the policy here in perpetuity then I'll spend my money elsewhere.

That's why I stayed with them even when other locations had lower rates or the same rate. It had worked for me... until this week. I checked my bank statement yesterday and saw a $96 charge. That's a 20% hike with zero warning - no email, no text, & nothing in the app. I searched every folder in my archived inbox (I keep everything) and found nothing from this location. When I texted the shop, they said "We emailed you in May." If they did, it never got to me. I haven't even been able to get a service here since Dec 16th 2024 because appointments are impossible to find due to my schedule. I've been driving to other H&N locations just to use the membership I'm paying for. The good: - Most barbers are pretty solid, though results can be hit-or-miss with a couple - The owner's wife does fantastic job with facial waxing - The owner himself seemed friendly (on the couple of times I've met him) The bad: - Surprise price hike for longtime members. - No verifiable notice or prior explanation. - Limited appointment availability at my "home" location. I asked them to cancel my membership on the spot - paying nearly a hundred bucks a month for something I can rarely book there (and with no heads-up on price changes) isn't worth it. Other H&N locations that I go to have membership fees (for new members of $80-$88 a month like at Valencia or Echo Park. It's too bad they couldn't have done these price hikes with more finesse and not just hiking me up to new-members rate

I told her, "Blending on one side is not great and longer. It's Ok for now. I will live with it until next cut." Never heard back. Not a sorry, not a hey come in anyway, I will fix it. Nada! I opted to leave it alone and move on. I guess she only wants 5 stars every time. Unfortunately I can say without a doubt this cut was not great, my wife even commented it was not. One side was not blended well at all, there was a clear line down the side of my head, front was cut too short compared to the rest. What can I say other than I was not happy with it. That has nothing to do with me allegedly micromanaging her, she was quite assertive in what she thought I should do with my hair. She thought I should push my hair forward which is not how I wear it. She cut it. All I asked for was an even cut, simple level 3 clipping on sides and back blending up nicely. That's it. Nothing else was involved. Dani's response is not accurate at all and is more of a response for passing blame which is much easier.

Until I found this salon and this stylist, I used to drive 50 minutes north to a salon in Laguna Niguel. This one is closer. It used to share a parking lot with a branch of my favorite Mexican restaurant (Miguel's) but that branch seems to have closed.

I had the best experience today at The Color Bar Salon. Let me start off by saying Janet was so helpful from the moment I reached out to the moment she surprised me with the amazing surprise that was my new hair do! I had made an inquiry to get a new hairstyle. It had been three years since I had last gone to get my hair done at a salon. Janet reached out to me directly after asking on Yelp and even offered to do my hair Sunday- the very next day and also when they're supposed to be closed. Now- I have super long hair that reached my thighs and had some split end damage. I was a bit nervous trusting someone with my locks- but she was very knowledgeable and showed me that in all her explanations of what products were to be used and why. Now when I got there Eric also helped me with my hair! He was amazing! The trust they both have in one another let me relax and enjoy the surprise miracle that they were making me! The technique and actual experience was a 10/10 they even used EARTH FRIENDLY Reusable hair fools and that impressed me. As someone who is very conscious of their carbon footprint this was amazing to see! All in all it was a fantastic visit, money well spent, and I was tended to and heard. I walked out feeling like a powerful new woman. I was sincerely taken aback in disbelief. They are true miracle workers. I always feel amazing and have the most incredible experience at Janet's in-home salon. It feels like a full salon experience but in a cozy, personal setting. Nestled in the mountains, away from the hustle and bustle, the gorgeous fall-like surroundings make you feel like you're in a spa oasis. Quiet, serene, and absolutely perfect. I love Janet at the Color Bar Salon!! She has a home based salon out of her home in Hemet that is set up beautifully and is comfortable, clean, and modern. I drove all the way from Corona to have my highlights done by her on my day off and it was a great experience. Her home is easy to find and parking is a breeze. Truly an amazing salon. I came with my mom to get our hair done and we both loved it. All of the ladies are so welcoming, it doesn't matter if it's your first appointment or 100th.
