Outstanding work once again by The Computer Guy. When I began having network connection problems last week, I dropped off my ancient HP Pavilion A830N which has been serviced/repaired by The Computer Guy in the past. Right away, dead components on its motherboard were located. The work was double-checked to be sure. No more distracting noisy fans, no more CPU going immediately to 100%. No network connections problems -- no more connection problems, that is, until I hooked it up my phone line, Ethernet cable and modem back home. It was fine at your shop, which meant that the connection problem must reside in my phone line, my Ethernet cable or my modem. I had run some Windows XP diagnostics and everything came back with flying colors: "This device is working properly," etc. Perplexed, I had the phone company check my line; it's fine. I returned to your shop the next day seeking suggestions and as usual Wyatt was interested, sympathetic and verey helpful offering to loan (!) me another Ethernet cable to ascertain whether my cable was the culprit and also check my modem for me. The modem that was"working properly," replete with indicator lights. When I returned home from that visit, I followed up with a phone call I had made with my ISP, Great Basin Internet Services (GBIS), since they earlier assigned me a Ticket Number in this regard. I've used them since 1995 -- 18 years -- another top-notch operation. GBIS asked that I just bring the modem in to them direct since that's where I bought it not too long ago, even though The Computer Guy is in the process evidently of partnering with GBIS. GBIS hooked it up and -- voilà -- "network connection is unplugged." Turns out, my connection problems completely killing much-needed Internet access were due to a faulty RJ-45 jack on the modem. My point being: I wouldn't have gotten this far in solving the problem without the great work that The Computer Guy did in the first place which narrowed the problem down substantially, all the while correcting some issues with the computer itself. I'm keeping this old HP Pavilion and its peripherals operational, but I do intend to purchase a brand-new computer down the road built by The Computer Guy (especially if you use flat-black cases like the example in your shop). I have taken my computer to this place, and both times I have ran into problems. The first time, I had a problem with my operating system, which they took care of but then charged me double the agreed price when my girlfriend came to pick up my laptop. I was able to get a refund, but living on the other side of town, it was quite a hassle. The second time, I had a motherboard go bad. They took a few days longer than they said they would to repair it, and when I got it back, it was still not working properly due to the tech forgetting to finish some repairs, and I had to take it back yet again to have them finish. Since then, my computer freezes often, and has many quirks and bugs it's never had before. These guys seem honest and like they're trying, but don't really know what they're doing. I worked for a business next to this one, and found them to be very rude and inconsiderate to anyone who isn't their customer. I once tried to approach them over buying computer parts, but they seemed disinterested in my patronage once I revealed I knew a lot about computers. All the employees carry guns, and set a weird atmosphere. Worst of all, I have witnessed him throwing away hundreds of PC towers into a dumpster behind his store. These things are supposed to be recycled, not trashed. His actions are disrespectful, not only as a business but as a neighbor. Please, take your computer else were. read more

I took my out dated laptop ("boat anchor" to The Computer Guy to try to get it to work cleaner and faster. They got it back to me and running faster right away. When it became obvious I needed a new computer, they gave me great advice as to what I needed and why. I needed my laptop to "mirror" my office computer. Once again.... they knocked it out of the park! They gave me the same operating system (so I didn't have to "learn a new language") as they put it. Unprofessional, crazy prices, arguably racist. The owners are big time creeps and took a bunch of photos of me, completely unauthorized. One of their technicians even admitted to me that he had no idea what he was doing and was frankly worthless without his magical usb stick. People, you can fix things yourselves I assure you. I had to rescue my grandmother out of this place. The Computer Guy provides customer service that is way above my expectations. They cleaned up the hard drive and repaired a previous PC that had been poorly patched up by another shop. These guys are smart, personable, fair, good listeners and love what they do!! So, I got tired of dealing with tech support at HP, AOL, etc. and, when my hard drive died on my old HP, I had these guys build me a custom PC with a 500 gig HD, 4 gig RAM, card reader, with WIN 7 and one year parts and labor warranty -- all for less than $750. I was thinking about replacing my five year old lap top computer because it had become very slow in all of its operations. I called the Computer Guy and was told to bring it in so that they could look at it. I did and left it with them. Three days later I received a call to come and pick it up. I don't know what all they did to it, but it now performs better and faster than it ever has. The service I received was friendly and courteous and the price for the upgrades was significantly lower than a new laptop. These guys are great! read more

My school laptop was having some issues, so I brought it in to the store. Everyone was friendly and welcoming the moment I stepped inside (their dog Happy is the sweetest). After getting checked in, it was only a couple of hours later that I got a call saying my laptop was good to go.
