I went in for "a few things." By that I mean: shelf liner, hooks (plural and way overanalyzed), a step ladder, a potato peeler, and a very specific type of hanger. The hangers were the main character. Everything else was supporting cast. Some people impulse-buy...shoes. I impulse-buy organization systems. I have been known to remove products from their original packaging so I can place them into more aesthetically appealing storage containers. This is not a cry for help. It is a lifestyle and an intentional choice. Yes, I could have ordered everything online. But convenience wasn't the point. I wanted to see the products. I wanted to be seduced by perfectly arranged displays of...systems. And frankly, I needed to get out of the house. Back to the hangers. A very specific type. A very specific color. Blonde wood. This was not optional. I walked in like a man on a mission only to find the display empty. Again. This has happened before. I felt that quiet retail heartbreak and moved on, primary objective unfulfilled. There is something uniquely disappointing about an empty hanger display when your closet vision depends on tonal consistency. Then an employee asked, "Are you finding everything okay?" I decided to be brave and answered with one word: "No." She paused. That was clearly not the expected script. After a moment, she said she'd grab the manager. Enter John, manager, who found me mid spiral, comparing approximately 47 varieties of hooks. I explained the hanger situation and mentioned that this particular stock issue felt...recurring. He calmly said he'd check the back for new inventory. I returned to my hook deliberations, down to about 12 finalists, when John and the original employee approached me carrying boxes. And boxes of MY hangers. It felt like a retail miracle. I may not have audibly gasped, but internally? Full on happiness. They were gracious, apologetic about past stock gaps, and genuinely helpful. John smiled and said, "All you have to do is ask." Well, duh. Sometimes growth looks like saying "no" in a polite tone at The Container Store. I left with everything I came for, plus more hangers than any reasonable person needs, and appreciative of the customer service. I'll be back. Probably for drawer dividers. read more

I love this place! While it may seem counterintuitive to buy more stuff to store your stuff, it actually works out well. They have EVERYTHING your heart could desire for storage, in all shapes and sizes. Prices are fair. Sales are great. If you buy online and pick up at the store, you get 20% off. I needed shoe boxes, so bought a case. Oddly, they seem a little smaller, or maybe my feet/shoes got bigger? Will compare with much older boxes currently in my closet. They do have boxes for high heels and boots, but I am paring down my collection of very high heels and adding more walking shoes. The shoe boxes were brought out to my car by a cheerful, friendly woman. This was a very easy process. I didn't want to go inside, because I had more errands and really didn't want to find something that I want, but don't need, lol. This place is a huge temptation for me! read more

I got a cute salt container, lid organizer, and a shoe rack! They had so much more to offer but I decided to come back latter when I had more time to browse each section. This is a great place to get organized. The last year with covid, this provided all the containers and labels to keep busy. They have a very large selection of containers, bins, buckets, baskets, holders, bags and more (different materials, sizes, colors and lids). The prices are on the higher side but, they do have deals all the time. As for the staff, they are typically helpful and friendly. One of my favorite things is, they have a very easy return policy (pretty much take back anything)-- if your park of their pops perk program, which is free, no need for a receipt. The Container Store seems like it would be such a snooze fest when you really think about it....a store with lots of items you can use to organize stuff. Yawn. Heck, even when you walk in it doesn't exactly wow you. You are assulted with shelving units and boxes and baskets galore. Then you start walking around and looking and getting sucked in and holy cow....its been an hour??? How? I went into the Park Meadow's store to get something to organize the mess that is my closet - well the shoes in my closet specifically. They had so much selection I actually was a bit overwhelmed. Shelves, cubbies, racks, underbed storage, over door storage - wow! I settled on something and started to wander a bit more. I love the store, so many little organizational things that I doubt I really need, but they make it seem like I really can't do without it! Staff is friendly and helpful too. They can answer a quick question (like I had) or help you design an entire closet (like several people seemed to be doing today). My only complaint is the stuff isn't exactly cheap. I remember why I haven't been into this store in 15+ years... well it's because it's hard to leave once you there if your into that sort of thing.. Yes.. I am. I try to deny it but it gnaws at me. Get a basket for that.. get a container for that. Do it.. you know you want to. Over the weekend I had cleaned out my freezer in the garage.. it's a never ending fight to open the door and not have a landslide off the shelf when trying to find something or just grab something out. Baskets.. I need freezer baskets. I went on to my trusty Amazon and started to look. A voice in the back of my head said.. look at the Container Store. Naw.. they won't have them... they will have to be ordered or something and it will take twice as long, but it still haunted me. So I took a chance and I looked. UNBELIEVABLE.. they had what I was looking for and their site said it was actually in the store. Never.. I cam never that fortunate with things.. hard to have faith but I took a trip over on lunch hour. It was like the sky lit up and the angels sang.. Yes.. they actually had what the site said they did! I scooped them up and I was to the register. I began to see all the shiny and gadgetry things. I had to stay focused... freezer baskets... register and on to my other errands. I made it.. without buying anything else. *phew* but I know it's all there now. It will haunt me until I return to investigate things.. This time retail won over Amazon. You never know until you try! So it's easy to see why The Container Store would be my thing! ++ I LOVE the variety of storage solutions offered! ++ I LOVE that there's a ton of displays showing you ways to incorporate their nifty storage items into your life. ++ I LOVE being able to custom design a storage solution that works for both my space and my needs! Heck, they'll even install it if you aren't handy with a drill. ++ I LOVE the friendly associates throughout the store offering their help. -- ONLY negative is that the prices can be a bit high. However, if you sign up for the POP! Rewards Program they send you a fifteen percent off coupon (just for signing up) and various coupons/deals throughout the year! So that helps a bit. I love this store however am sad to report their customer service is severely lacking. I have been there twice in 2 days and both times have had poor customer service. Both employees that helped me seemed irritated at requests to grab elfa products from the back (which is where they keep most of them). Today, when making our request, the immediate response was "well I have to see if we even have them". Once the product was brought out, she did not hand it to us but responded with "well I'm not sure if this is even available". Each response from her was lacking basic customer service. I've visited most container stores in a large radius of denver. Pro tip - make an appointment if you want to do elfa. The staff is hit or miss, but the friendly and helpful ones are beyond amazing! We got crazy with making the most of what i had with an attic access. We redid many things a number of times and she put in specific notes to help the installer with what i wanted! The program to create your closet/storage is great, and you can see it at home and rethink anything! I have done 2 house with ELFA and love it! Everything has a place so you don't need the once a year, reorganize the closet! Kudo to the staff! Pro tip: you can map out your closet without purchasing it, you can then buy it when the sales are on! Wherever you do your final update to you closet, and you buy it - you have to pick up the pieces there - so make sure it's the one closest to your house. read more

This place is organization HEAVEN. Any kind of box, crate, bag, shelf or otherwise that you would need can be found in this place. I mean ANY. They have organization options for everything from the kitchen to the closet to the office to travel. It's actually quite overwhelming. I do not recommend just walking in to this place off the cuff. This is the kind of place you can get sucked into. Come in with a plan and an idea of what you are looking for or you will end up like me and leave feeling overwhelmed and having purchased nothing. Some of their stuff can be a little pricey, but they also have some really good deals on other things. You gotta admit, The Container Store is a really cool place to go and browse for all kinds of storage ideas. They have containers for, well... just about EVERYTHING! Trouble is the prices are just RIDICULOUS! I visited recently to look for a simple DVD rack to organize my stacks of DVD's. I found the perfect metal media rack. It was.. AHEM.. NINETY DOLLARS. GTFO! Who in their right mind would pay NINETY dollars for a small media rack you could buy at Ikea or even Best Buy for a fraction of the price? Burgeois middle class with lots of disposable income to throw away, that's who. Like I said, it's a cool store to come and browse for all sorts of ideas. You can find many similar storage totes, boxes, containers, and shelving systems much less elsewhere. I love their Elfa shelving but even during their annual Elfa sale it's just WAY too darned expensive. You can find similar shelving systems at Home Depot and Lowes for far less. The Container Store is a fun place to wander for ideas but be warned. You'll have to contain yourself and your wallet! read more

I love these stores, but always walk in feeling like a complete idiot for not inventing this stuff myself. We just moved to a new house a few weeks ago, so the trips to the Container Store, Bed Bath & Beyond, Target, etc. have been out of control, but I think TCS has been my favorite. There are 2 kinda of people that shop this area at 11:30 in the morning. Retired chatty folks and working class on their lunch hour. I wanted to get my purchases and get on my way. The male clerk helping the lady in front of me was so chatty and my total time in line was 15 minutes, too long if you're trying to maximize your lunch hour like I was. Then he made a huge production out of me being there for the first time and called for his managers to come up to sing to me. No joke. It was mortifying and I switched to paying cash so I could leave quicker. The clerk delighted that he was making me uncomfortable and I couldn't wait to leave. He took forever to bag the two jars I bought and took his time giving me my change and receipt while detailing the way he got hired. The reason for only two stars was because of the price. Way way above market value. The quote that I got from them was $32,000.00. At that price a couple more quotes are required. This place reminds me of that old Seinfeld joke about grocery stores: You think you're going to get in, find your two items and get out, but an hour later you find yourself wandering around saying "Yeah, I DO need a pen, paper, toilet paper organizer for my bathroom". It's best to stay focused and make a list before you come in. I did that and I was out in 5 minutes, it was great. They have a greeter as you walk in to guide you in the right direction, and checkout was likity split fast. I'd say the only annoying thing about this place is its location. I've been a professional organizer for 14 years and have spent $1,000's of dollars on behalf of my customers shopping at the CS. Today's experience at this Container store was horrible. The store was completely disorganized.. like items and categories NOT together. I circled the store 4 times looking for regular items I typically buy. No one knew where anything was and they blamed it on Christmas set up... you can't make that excuse because Christmas time is no surprise to anyone.. it comes every year and you should be ready for it.
