I went here only for two old-style milk crates, the store's main item. 9-bucks. Not bad. But the rest of the merchandise? Overpriced! At first I thought perhaps I was looking at stuff not made in China, understanding that US, Euro, or even Japanese merchandise may command a price premium. I've been looking and looking for desk. It's been hard to find one I like at a reasonable price because of the pandemic and everyone working from home and or going to school virtually. I was so excited I found a desk at this store and it was ready for pick up a week later. Well a few days before I was due to pick up my desk, I received an email telling me my desk was now back ordered until October! I called in to cancel my order and the gentleman I spoke with said an employee gave the only desk left to another person and the employee didn't realize it was for an order placed the week before. The closet organizer I ordered is excellent and is very efficient. The only hurdle was the installation instructions. They are not "complete" as I was told they were. I had a challenge checking off each part to be sure everything was there, because the Items' numbers did not match the packing slip numbers. Then the instructions were vague for those not familiar with construction. I had to look up the instructions for installing sheet rock screws and since it is an unusual design I had to figure out part of it myslf. Also, the distance between mounting the vertical bars is not 12" or 18" unless you're sure to measure between the centers of the bars. (A question the customer service person answered incorrectly when I called.) Their 18" template for spacing is actually around 16 3/4" because it's made to be placed between the vertical bars. In other words: Clear and complete instructions would have saved me a couple of hours of figuring out how the installation is really supposed to be done. After we figured out how it was supposed to go together, everything snapped into place nicely. However, if you have weak arms you may want to have someone with muscle as backup for the tighter spots. I'm still glad I did it myself. A few hours putting everything into place saved me over $500 installation fee. read more

This is my HAPPY PLACE!!! I waited for years for "My" Container Store to open. After driving to the bay area all the time to get my Container Store fix, it is open and awesome. I love that I can now just come here for 1-2 items for a specific project. The employees are always cheerful, friendly and helpful. Lots of parking, Easy in and out now that they put in an extra traffic light on Arden Way. I mostly come here for items to organize my art studio and my kitchen. Terrible customer service. I walked around the store looking for an item as 3 people who worked there stood at the registers including a lead or manager chatting. I finally found what I needed as I could hear them still standing around the registers talking and socializing. As I walked to the registers, 2 the checkers clocked out w people in queue. They both looked up at me and said. Just way for the first register. Really??? Not a shocker why the storefront is disappearing. It's better customer service to type in a search engine what I need and it's delivered to my home... And I receive an email that says "Thank you" for your purchase. Here's a tip. Don't think you're gonna walk in to grab one item because you will miss out on something. My 2nd visit and I had more time to browse around the store and started filling up my basket with containers not on my list haha, but yes they have all sorts or containers for your home ,office, kitchen , closets , organize your jewelry , makeup and much more. I love walking down the aisles and looking at the smallest container to large ones for huge storage ideas. For the animal lover I did see some great food containers small and large. Staff are helpful and will come up to you and ask if you need any help looking an item. I prepaid items that container store was out of stock. The clerks asked me if I would like to prepay for these items & they would call me as soon as they arrived in the store. I was told they would arr. 26Jan21. After not hearing from them I called 2 weeks ago & was told they were at the store & would receive an email when they were set for pickup. After not receiving any communication, I called & was told they were not in the store & in fact were on back order! They right away asked if I wanted to cancel the order which I agreed to as they could not tell me when they would arrive. I will never prepay for any items again. read more

I FINALLY stopped by the new Container Store location next to the Howe About Arden shopping center on my lunch one day during the week. The Grand Opening crowds have finally subsided and you can browse in peace. Parking is plentiful and it's semi easy to get in and out of. They are constructing a Homegoods (yes!) across the parking lot so navigating around can be a little difficult. When the Homegoods is done I will never leave the parking lot. It's just too perfect. Inside is my organizational heaven. I'm a perfectionist with maybe a little OCD so I could totally spend thousands of dollars here on stuff to organize my house. Everything is SO PERFECTLY arranged that I spent AN HOUR walking around the store just LOOKING at everything wishing I had unlimited funds and time in my day. They literally have everything. And everything comes in a rainbow of colors. It's wonderful. They have my favorite Umbra stuff and some really cute magnets. And desk accessories. And wine holders. And reusable shopping bags. And little sets of drawers. And dry erase boards. And shipping supplies. AND.... *sigh* I had to dock one star because they are expensive. One would have no problem spending hundreds of dollars just organizing one room. I do like their selection though so I will definitely be back. read more

Sure, you can find a majority of the stuff they sell cheaper at places such as Target, Walmart, IKEA, Lowes, Home Depot, Bed Bath and Beyond...you get the picture right. Stuff meaning plastic containers, clothes hangars, wastebaskets, gift wrap, tape, lazy Susans, makeup trays, souvenir boxes, blah blah. But, wait...only at the Container Store you can find all the stuff in one place! Plus there are employees that actually want to help you unlike every Home Depot I've been in. As I strolled through the store, the employees asked if I needed help and asked how I was doing. Whoever was the hiring manager, kudos. Everyone I spoke to seemed genuinely sincere and glad to be working. Possibly everyone is in the honeymoon stage on best behavior. Either way, I'll take it. Ok back to the store. Organization is the theme of this place. The store itself is even well organized, the merchandise is laid out in sections by room type. They even have a closet furniture design center with hands on associates to assist you. On my first visit I bought a 10" double tier stainless steel lazy Susan for $25. I have been to The Container Store several times since it opened several months ago. Their sleek, modern store opened up as part of a major remodel of the old Century Theatres complex and is part of the overall chain. With the new traffic light on Arden, accessing the store is much easier with plentiful parking between Ethan and Howe. This is a cool place, but it is hard for me to justify most of the items. Like IKEA, you really have to like the overall look and feel of the items to justify the purchase. Most of the options are very modern and do not work with more classical decors. I have found some unique display items here for sports memorabilia and other collectables, and their overall closet organization is great. The store remains popular, but I can usually find suitable items at Target for a lower price. This is a great place for some specialty items, but I cannot imagine doing regular shopping here. Nevertheless, having The Container Store as an option is great! read more

I have been to Container Stores all over the country for many years and generally I LOVE them. But this store was a COMPLETE mess. Merchandise was extremely disorganized (ironic, no?), shelves were missing a lot of items, and some staff members could care less if they didn't know an answer to a basic question regarding merchandise. Maybe it has to do with the pandemic, but I didn't see any signs explaining the mess. If this were my first time visiting a Container Store, I would probably never return to one. read more

I recently worked with Denise, Paul, Danielle, and others at the Arden store to provide some needed organization in my garage and master closet. The team worked very hard to interpret the difficult space nooks and crannies and developed three super cool areas for my bikes, garbage cans, peg board system, shelving, hooks for ladders, long handle holdersm etc. I had special space in my master closet for hats and they designed a nifty hat/hook system that looks professional and very organized. I'd like to give this corporation zero stars due to their lack of ADA compliance and their ignorance on the CA Governor's social distancing guidelines. While entering with a face shield, a disabled family member was turned away and told they were not welcome to shop at the Container Store. The employee was belligerent in their communication style and totally lacked professionalism. It is clear that disabled Americans are not welcome and will be humiliated, if they attempt to patronize this business. Personally, I would never give this company another dollar and ideally I'd like to return anything purchased in the past. Love the other Container stores in the bay area and I was excited to finally go into the Sacramento store. This particular store's employees made my trip very unpleasant, however. While I was shopping for stocking stuffers, an employee walked by and stated, "Oh, let me look what stuff you've got so far", then proceeded to look into and search our shopping cart. The employee did not say hi first, nor did she ask if we needed any assistance. Literally, her first statement was about her wanting to look into our shopping cart. I understand her intentions probably meant well (I hope), but never have I or my partner ever had any employee in any store make that statement then proceed to be so nosy and blatantly obvious in looking into our shopping cart while we were still shopping. My boyfriend described the other employees as "aggressive" and "awkward" as we continued to shop around. We felt very uncomfortable in this store and I truly can't remember the last time I have ever felt that way in a store. Don't know if I'll be back to this particular store. Management, please train your employees on common courtesy. There's a line between being friendly and helpful and being nosy and awkward. Your employee crossed that line. read more

So they have a little bit of everything here. Which is awesome to browse through. It makes my type A organizing self sing. You can find anything you might need for organizing any part of your life. But the issue I have is the prices! Something's seem totally fair such as 7.99 for a travel bottle kit or 4.99 for a fold up laundry mesh bag. But I picked up a jewelry box intended for traveling at it was 24.99! Which seems ridiculously high, which seems to be the case with many items in the Container Store. I would say it's good to go for specific needs but better off to look on Amazon or Target for cheaper choices but perhaps less options. read more

This place is so cool! I came here looking for a clear stadium bag for a football game (which unfortunately, they didn't have). BUT, they had just about anything else organization-wise that I could ever imagine needing! This place is meta in the sense that it's a store dedicated to products that promote organization, and the organization of the organization products is great. They have closet organizers, gift bags, kitchen containers, and so forth. Next time I'm organizing my room and need tins, boxes, or other clear objects, I will definitely come here. read more

Found it a little unusual and embarrassing that the white clerk had to call another person up to the register to confirm my currency was real. I work with money all the time and it's not rocket science to figure out with a marker whether or not it was real currency. Do they do this to everyone or just minorities? Maybe because it's the uneducated or perhaps misinformed and undertrained cashier who used her own personal prejudices who overzealously thought I was passing counterfeit bills. Tried to take advantage of their 30% sale and buy a couple pieces of drawers for my closet that I did in Elfa. Person I spoke with was nice but kept pushing me to have to schedule an appointment with a designer. I don't have time to sit with a designer and sit through an upsale presentation. After I kept explaining what I wanted Instead of putting in my order, he kept spinning me back to a designer appointment. I got so frustrated that I had to leave without buying anything. I wandered in here one day partially to see what this place was all about and partially to find something to organize my giant jewelry making mess. I truly wish I could remember the name of the woman who helped me because she was hands down one of the friendliest people I've ever encountered in customer service. I ended up leaving with something other than what she had suggested, but I'll definitely be back. My wife and i were there yesterday and very disappointed. There were only 12 people waiting in line to get into the store. All were groups of 2. It took us over 20 minutes to be allowed into the store. Thank God it was only in the 80's as the front of the store is in full sun with nothing provided for shade. When we finally are allowed in all the carts were in use and we had to wait another 5 minutes for a cart. There really wasn't that many people in the store considering it was a Saturday but still there was a line of at least 10 people waiting to check out due to there only being 2 cashiers. They didn't have what we were looking for but we likely would not have waited in line to pay even if thet had. We likely will never go back! It seems to me that a lot of companies are using Covid-19 as an excuse for poor customer service and this appears to be one of them! read more
