Fantastic burger & beautiful but limp hand-cut fries.
    Steven B.

This is one of those way way off the beaten path places that you would never find without Yelp. It's worth it! Atmosphere- These folks were in another close-by location and got flooded out. They opened here a few months ago. It's a tiny dive bar/restaurant with a bar for about a dozen and a side room with tables. I was delighted to see a TouchTunes jukebox. They have karaoke and bands on selected nights. Adult Libations- Beer & wine only. Three or four basic taps and lots of bottles and cans. Nothing special but you'll be able to get your buzz on. Customer Service- Three young ladies took care of me just fine. They were funny and friendly and informative, and I had no complaints. Food- OMG-Bacon wrapped mozzarella sticks! I wanted them so bad, but I was set on a burger. I made my own with sautéed onions and mozzarella for about $9 and it came with hand-cut fries. The burger was amazing! Heavy and juicy with a very nice bun. The hand-cut fries were as expected, not that great. I knew that was going to happen! The cooks at little places like this don't understand about "twice cooked" fries so you get them tasty but limp. They were very tasty, so my limited expectations were met. I was pleased here, and the bar food menu is huge! I'm coming back to add to my cholesterol count!

Tasty Food at reasonable price. I usually get it to go on the way home for dinner. Excellent wings in several different flavors not breaded but naked. Delicious burgers made to order. One of the best Philly Cheesesteaks this side of Polk County. The entire crew is friendly.

Hot Garlic chicken wings (all drummies)... excellent!

We went here for the first time a few months ago, but I'm just now getting around to doing the review. I loved The Coop! Everything we had was delicious. Hot garlic chicken wings were excellent. Bacon wrapped mozzarella sticks... LOVED IT! Cajun boiled peanuts were not made in house but they're very good. Pulled pork & The Dougie were good. I absolutely LOVED their French fries. The interior is homey & cute. They have the bar in one room when you first walk in. They have additional seating & a pool table in the next room. They also have a covered outdoor patio in the back PLUS additional grassy outdoor area you can hang out at. The owners are super nice. One of them gave us the grand tour & showed us the backyard area. If I remember correctly, she said they also rent out the outdoor patio area for private parties. Can't wait to come back here & try out more of their food & hang out in their back patio. We'll def come here more often when we're in this side of town.

I traversed inside to place my order as there didn't seem to be service at that time. The waitress seemed off and kept making me wait while she asked the bar crowd who else wanted a drink. I waited and waited. Finally she took my order. I asked for the nachos and a draught beer. She seemed surprised I ordered food. She kept telling me I needed to order chicken or steak. I indicated that I didn't need those add one and was good with the refried beans listed on the menu. I told her I was sitting on the corner outside. That corner is where I sat, for more than half an hour, gasping for air. I was entertained by the music and some people dancing to the tunes. I really wanted my beer which never came. Finally my nachos arrived. They had a nice presentation but no beans. They were dropped at the table as she sped away. I tried to ask for my beer but she never hesitated long enough nor emerged to check on me. My nachos was more of chips and cheese with a lettuce salad on top. I was thankful for the jalepeno slices and made the best of it. After an hour I went inside to pay. The waitress ignored me again. When I finally got the bill it included the illusion beer that was never served. When I questioned it the waitress got frustrated and handed my ticket to an apologetic younger guy. I don't think wild horses could drag me back to this bar. Maybe if some friends were only willing to come hear the music but not venture inside... it's pretty sad as the music was great!

Great service for being so busy. First off, my all time favorite beer on draft! Michelob Amberbock!! Of course chilled mug! Ordered raw oysters, delicious. Then shared the fisherman's platter. Everything was yummy except the Fried oysters were not as good as everything else. Fresh made onion rings, scallops delicious. Very large seating area with Tiki bar next door.

Awful! We live in the area and come often.. we sat at 7.. took 20 minutes for server to even get to…read morethe table.. we received our food at 9! That's right 9! We ordered 3 burgers (2 med, 1 well done, the well done being for a child) and 2 tunas.. all 3 burgers came out wrong (wrong temp and wrong toppings, one burger had wire brushing in it, which owner argued, saying there's no way) tuna was ice cold, and not seared cold, like fridge cold (which again owner argued saying there's is no way) . Server was great and apologized over and over ( which she should not be apologizing she's not the one in the kitchen) owner (female) finally came to the table, asked us how our dinner was. When we expressed how it was, she began to argue with us, saying there is no way that things were wrong. At one point addressing the server as if she was the one who made our food. At this point, we had enough and knew it was not going anywhere! The owner did take off 1 burger and 1 tuna.. which was appreciated. After being talked down too, we all expressed at the table, that we would rather just pay our bill and leave! Not one time were we rude, disrespectful or mean in any way to be spoken to the way she spoke to us. Absolutely wild experience! We truly love this place.. but this has definitely set a tone. Edit... Her response says it all! Facial expressions were because we were absolutely appalled at the fact that she was arguing about our experience! While ahi tuna is supposed to have a cool center the fish was ICE COLD.. FRIDGE TEMP FROM TOP TO CENTER! When asked to take it back to heat it.. it was microwaved.. which then turned it gray.. but once returned that pink center was cool, not FRIDGE COLD! The wire brush was in the burger.. she argued with us stating it was a hair from the onion(which burger was supposed to have no onion) .. even though you could perfectly see it was a copper wire of some sort! Mind you it was found at the end of the burger. The reason we didn't take the offer of new food, is because we were done.. 2 hours to get our food, and they waited till the absolute end, to approach our table! By that point we had eaten what we could and she was speaking to us by this point like we were awful people.. WHY WOULD WE STAY ANOTHER HOUR! Especially after being talked to like she was! We couldn't get a word in! So as you can tell about her response from here, you can only imagine her response in real time!!! Horrible display of an owner!

The previous owners were famous state-wide for their Slaw Burgers! Folks drove 100 miles to buy them! They literally sold them for decades. The new owners insured it lives on! Arriving- Teeny tiny Frostproof is a straight shot, about 5 miles, off US Route 27. You end up on Main Street where these guys are located. Free street parking and more free parking around the side. Ambience- A beautiful remodel with lots of wood. A long straight bar with comfortable stools with backs. A just the right height, tiled foot railing makes for a comfortable bar experience. Behind the bar is mounted a long line of huge TVs for your viewing pleasure. It's an awesome place to watch a game! See my picture. Of course there are also tables, booths, and even pool tables. TouchTunes & Wi-Fi- I recommend the App for using the juke box. In this part of Florida, you can expect a lot of classic rock and country. You need a password for the Wi-Fi and its typical retail speed. Adult Libations- Full bar plus 12 taps. I enjoyed a Space Dust IPA. It was 8.2% APV, ice cold and delicious. Customer Service- Five stars! I enjoyed a great bartender/server that was friendly and efficient. Food- American bar & casual food. Lots of fried food and a great variety of sandwiches. I went with the iconic Slaw Burger & Fries along with my IPA and it was $18 pre-tip. It came out quickly, piping hot and with unique plating. Juicy and savory with the added snap of the slaw. Add nicely cooked fries and it was a superior lunch. Conclusion- If you are traveling through Highlands County, divert here for a great lunch or dinner. Highly recommended if you're watching a sporting event!

Supposedly it was a great neighborhood pub with an extensive beer menu and super friendly staff and patrons. This was not my experience on a Saturday night. The beer menu had some decent variety and I was able to get an Octoberfest from Wicked Weed. There were 3-4 other local beers I had never tried as well which seemed promising. It took a little while to be served. When I was, the bartender was kind of cold and frustrated that she didn't have more help. It didn't seem that busy to me, but after trying to order food, I got a sigh and was told it was going to be a very long time before I got anything. I said that's fine I was planning on having a few drinks anyways. More time passed and I tried chatting up some of the others at the bar but it seemed like more of a locals and regulars chatting with those they knew kind of crowd. Once the bartender came back and repeated how long it was going to take for any food I just decided to cancel my order, pay for my beer, and go to someplace where my presence was less of a burden (Smokin DJs next door was awesome). I'm sure this place is great for regulars or when it's less busy, but if you are an out of towner and there are more than 8 people visiting it's probably best to look elsewhere.
