Perfectly cooked brisket, 2 huge yummy onion rings, juicy and crunchy coleslaw, and delicious pickles! I had the honey drizzled sweat potato fries, my sister had a garden salad. They have 3 different sauces to complement your meal (I tried all 3!) The only thing better than the food was the service. Izzy was our server and he was above and beyond the expectation. Attentive, knowledgeable and personable, definitely ask to be sat in his section for an excellent experience. Restaurant was well lit but soft and the floor was quiet enough to enjoy conversation. They do have a bar that seemed lively and fun and I saw advertisements for happy hour drinks and plates. Looking forward to going back soon. Prime Rib on Thursday nights seems to be calling my name.

The second we walked in, the smell hit me like, "Cancel your goals. You live here now." Smoky, delicious, slightly illegal levels of good. We were greeted and seated by a super nice guy who said, "Patrick will be right with you." Two minutes later... Patrick shows up. Five minutes later... Patrick brings drinks. Ten minutes later... Patrick brings food. At some point I leaned over to Ross and whispered, "Where is the original guy?? Did Patrick eat him??" Nope. SAME MAN. Sir is host, server, possibly chef, and I'm 90% sure he rotated the earth slightly to speed up our service. Patrick sold me on the Prime Rib sandwich like a seasoned car salesman and I folded immediately. Ross got the loaded smokehouse sandwich because he likes to pretend he makes responsible decisions. The food came out fast and looking disrespectfully good. I blacked out somewhere between bite one and "I should stop." I did not stop. I have no regrets. My diet has filed a missing persons report. And let's circle back to Patrick--this man has the energy of three employees, a double espresso, and unresolved childhood dreams. I want whatever he's having. I would follow him into battle... or at least back for dessert. As The Terminator once said, "I'll be back." Mostly because I found out Patrick works Wednesday-Saturday... and apparently those are now my "nutritional delusion" days. Would 100% trust my GPS to ruin my plans again.

As awesome in fact as the service. As I said earlier, we sat at the bar and Erica was our server. She took customer service to the next level. She was super pleasant, engaging and most importantly helpful. She gave recommendations for drinks and food. And it didn't feel fake like at some places. Erica was so very genuinely awesome! We ordered 10 wings, half buffalo mild and half honey old bay. They sounded good in theory, but the first batch was a tad under cooked for me. The honey old bay was meh, but the buffalo mild was decent. Luckily we were able to send them back and the second batch was way better. If you are going to order wings here, ask for them extra cooked or extra crispy. While we were waiting we were given some fries by Erica. And, the 2nd set of wings was fantastic! They have a QR code to pay your bill, but I couldn't get it to work so I had to pay the server. All and all a pretty good experience even with the huccups.

We were seated immediately upon arrival, and the restaurant was clean and welcoming. Both times we've visited, it hasn't been overly busy, which made for a relaxing dining experience. Personally I find that shocking as I would think it would be a tourist trap but it's mostly locals. We started with Homerun Margaritas, and they were delicious! They tasted a little on the light side at first, but our server happily added an extra shot, which was a nice bonus! For food, we ordered the mozzarella sticks, cheeseburger sliders, the Merica Burger, and chicken wings. Everything was cooked fresh, came out hot, and tasted fantastic. We really enjoyed every bite. Overall, another great experience with friendly service, delicious food, and a comfortable atmosphere. We look forward to coming back again!

Looking at the reviews already posted makes this place seem bipolar. Maybe it has everything to do with the day of the week, the cooks/chefs on staff and/or managers/wait staff present. This was a Saturday, so.... The better half wanted to sit indoors and the DIL outdoors. A compromise was made and the table selected was in between. The service was exceptional by our waitress (I wish we could recall her name). A solo musician played mellow music and had good vocals. Very relaxing atmosphere. All the food ordered was tasty and abundant. The highlight was the Grouper sandwich the better half raved about, even the day after she was talking about it. The meals came with a tasty brown bread and house salad, which was a nice addition. The drinks were not watered down and well made, at a price point that was quite acceptable. We all look forward to returning; but it may need to another Saturday if that's when they have the A-Team working.

The…read moreoverall vibe was chaotic, hot, humid, and sub-par cleanliness with profanity-laced dollar bills stapled all over. Florida! I'm certain the condiment bottles in scattered baskets never get cleaned. I never leave poor reviews, but potential guests must be warned of this place. My elderly aunt and I arrived at 4:10pm after driving an hour to this place for a late lunch. It was Father's Day, so the place was packed and busy. So busy, that the wait staff were frantically running around the place. Upon arrival, we were greeted by a young hostess who looked as if she were in a total daze. We were told there would be a wait, though an approximate time was not given, so we decided to saddle up to the bar outside which was filthy with wet coasters and squeezed lime wedges and trash littered all over the floor. When we were finally texted that our table was ready, at 4:50pm, we were sat outside at a table with a dirty ashtray. We placed our order and waited for another 30 minutes for a two salads and bread (served with "butter", which was really an oily margarine with herbs). Only one salad made it to the table, and the fried pickles were brought 10 minutes before my salad was served with nervous laughter by our waitress. The manager did come to our table to apologize for our waiting, so I politely requested a free beer for our trouble, which was denied. I work at a brewery and give free draft beer if someone has to wait more than 5 minutes! So, she offered a cheesecake instead, which we thanked her for (and which costs their business more than a free draft pour, but I digress). Another 25 minutes pass, which places us at 5:45pm, over 1.5 hours past our arrival. The food finally comes to the table. I placed two orders for hushpuppies, but only one order made it to the table. They were not very good at all. My aunt ordered shrimp with cocktail sauce, but it wasn't cocktail sauce. It was salsa! The waitress explained to us that seating had recently been expanded, but the kitchen staff had not, which was more than obvious. In the end, our food was comped 100%, but the poor experience really ruined our appetite, so we didn't finish our food. While we did have some beers and a cocktail, at no point were we offered water, and the free cheesecake the polite yet condescending manager offered never made it to the table. They didn't have the good sense to tell folks at the door that the wait time was closer to an hour, completely overwhelming themselves instead of taking care of the large parties that were already dining. Gators aren't the only thing to beware of at Cherry Pocket!

That's when we came across Sauvage, a Polynesian craft bar & kitchen located in the heart of Winter Haven. From the moment we walked in, the vibe was right--vibrant, tropical, trendy, and fun. And then we spotted two retro arcade games--Mortal Kombat II and Street Fighter Turbo--that guests can play while waiting for their food. Talk about nostalgia! That definitely took us back to our childhoods. Okay, okay... I'm showing our age. Let's get back to the food! The Brunch Sauvage's menu combines Polynesian-inspired cuisine with American favorites and creative twists, which immediately caught our attention. We decided to share two entrées: Duck Confit Benedict Duck confit served over crispy hash browns, topped with poached eggs, hollandaise, and chives. Brunch Scallion Pancake A savory scallion pancake topped with scrambled eggs, cheese, millionaire bacon, island sauce, and sweet Thai chili, served with a side of grits. Both dishes were different, flavorful, and absolutely delicious. I especially loved that each entrée came served in its own personalized cast-iron skillet. It made the presentation feel rustic and unique while keeping everything warm. And the portions were perfectly sized for brunch--satisfying without being overwhelmingly heavy. And Then There Was the Cocktail... We couldn't visit a Polynesian craft bar without trying one of their creative cocktails! We went with the Mango Sticky Rice Milk Punch -- made with coconut-washed brandy, mango soju, five-spice, and vanilla. This cocktail was cool, light, fruity, and refreshing, with just enough of that tropical flavor to make it feel like the perfect summer brunch drink. Honestly, I really enjoyed it! Sauvage was such a fun find for our Sunday brunch. Between the tropical atmosphere, creative Polynesian-American menu, unique cocktails, nostalgic arcade games, and beautifully presented food, it was definitely more than just your typical brunch spot. Everything we ordered was flavorful, well-portioned, and thoughtfully presented. And the fact that we discovered it while celebrating a 50th birthday weekend made the experience even better. Would I come back? Absolutely! Next time we're in Winter Haven, we're skipping brunch and coming back for dinner. I'm definitely curious to see what Sauvage is doing with their dinner menu. Sauvage gets a "we'll definitely be back" from us!
