I only needed $1000 to get my cat out of the vet, he tried to hassle me saying he can only do $400 which is complete BULLSHIT!! Gold is $4200 per 1 oz right now. And then had the audacity to print a ticket stating it was 14K thinking I wouldn't notice. There was no way in hell I would've left my gold there with them. I took the $ because I was in a bind and then came back a week later to get it out of pawn. Don't deal with these losers! Cash connection is much more professional and actually give you the weight value for your gold.

Yesterday I found two treasures at this charming antique and collectibles shop on the main street…read morein Jacksonville. I wanted to stay longer but I had an appointment so I had to leave. This shop has so many truly wonderful vintage things to choose from including crystal, china, and fabulous clothing from earlier times when REAL (fine cotton, silk, wool) fabric was used. Maggie, one of the proprietors, was really wonderful to work with. She helped all of us find the things we were looking for and wrapped them up beautifully. This place is a find!!!!! I'll ne back.

THE SETUP The thing that drew me into the deep recesses of displays and shelvings was the impressive collection of buttons. From cartoon characters to old electioneering campaigns from the last century, this store had quite the eclectic collection of buttons. OTHER ODDITIES From things that looked like severed heads to model cars, there was a lot of fun stuff. My partner-in-crime and I on this trip found some accessorized bracelets that were pretty fun to give to friends. THE LOWDOWN A great little stop in Jacksonville.

Three Penny Mercantile was probably the most fun shop we visited throughout our Ashland…read moremini-vacation. From the get-go, the staff were welcoming and friendly, engaging us in conversation about all sorts of nonsense that had nothing to do with the shop, such as roller skates (which one of the ladies was wearing), sci-fi, and life in general. It was a nice personal touch that really endeared us to the store, and stands in stark contrast to the blasé, unaffected state of "customer service" we so often encounter at other shops. Everything in the shop oozed with unique or distinct design, hand-picked by the eye of someone with an eye for flair, flamboyance or fun. Prices were all very reasonable, which came as a surprise in a tourist town like Ashland. While my wife perused the clothing racks, I plumbed the various paperback books on the shelves, picked one out and walked away happy with my choice, for $5 bucks! Not intending to name drop, I asked the attendants if it was OK to take pictures for Yelp, to which they happily agreed, and seemed very thankful. So much so, in fact, that the owner (my guess) told me to pick out another paperback for free! Sometimes, there are perks! My wife also purchased a cute pair of key earrings. Another great perk about the shop was that it stayed open late...like, really late, compared to everything else but the bars. We walked by a few minutes to 11pm and the doors were still open, and music could be heard thumping from within. Had we not been en route to somewhere else, we probably would have popped in again, just to say hey! We'll definitely be making a return stop the next time we are in Ashland, if for no other reason than I'll likely be expected to provide a detailed review of the books I purchased!
