My experience at Copper Kettle on Mother's Day was extremely frustrating, mostly due to poor service and management. Service was slow from the start. We waited a long time just to order drinks, and our waitress, Maggie, had to come back and ask for our drink order again. Later, I ordered a salad to go, and it came out wrong. I asked Maggie to send it back, but after waiting 25 minutes, nothing happened. I eventually had to ask for a manager. Manager James never came to speak with me. I was told he was "too busy" and that I'd need to wait until he had time, blaming the delay on it being Mother's Day. However, the restaurant did not appear that busy--there were multiple empty tables. After another 10-15 minutes, I still never spoke with James, and only then did I finally receive the corrected salad to go. I spent $200.66 including tip, which is a lot to pay for this level of service. While the food itself was good, it was very overpriced for what you receive, and the lack of attentiveness and accountability from management ruined what should have been a special meal. This represents July 2024 photo series. It was the 4th of July, which was a Thursday in 2024. My girlfriend's parents' home is down by Smith Mountain Lake, so we took a week down there. We were going to get a big Italian meal for an early dinner as we hadn't eaten much. But I looked on my left, and saw a sign. I exclaimed Thursday is Prime Rib day! I had my g/f U-turn. She had been to Copper Kettle before and said it was good. I checked the menu and was comparable in price to other prime rib (which honestly is expensive), but it was a good size. They only have the prime rib on a Thursday; so it's not that it's a little cheaper on a Thursday. It's that it's not available at all the other 6 days of the week. I asked the server a lot of questions about the sides. She assured me the cauliflower is better than it sounds, the way they prepare it. She said that people generally like the cauliflower. I asked if I didn't like could I switch it out with something else. She said that was fine. I guess if I had a complaint, it would be that they couldn't do a side salad. But guess what, the cauliflower was surprisingly excellent. My second side I got fries, which were delicious too. As for the prime rib, it was one of the best I've had in a long time! I raved to my g/f about how great it was. I think my g/f really liked her fish & chips or the like. The restaurant was clean, service was relatively fast, friendly hostess & server, and was excellent food. Highly recommend, would definitely try to get back here on a Thursday in the future, and if it isn't a Thursday, then I'd try another item here. read more

The whole family tried out this restaurant when the place we really want to go to was closed (just being honest). So glad the first place was closed! The food and service here was OUTSTANDING. TBT--this place has a few quirks. The staff overall, but not our waitress--SHE WAS PHENOMENAL--but it just had a weird vibe at first. This was a special anniversary dinner, however there were many families dining while we were there so we would be comfortable bringing our family next time. It seemed perfect either way. I drove over an hour and 20 minutes from Lexington, Virginia just to eat at The Copper Kettle in Moneta--and unfortunately, it wasn't worth the trip. Even with a reservation, we waited nearly 30 minutes to place our order and another 15 for drinks. The server kept saying they were "crazy busy," yet spent more time socializing than actually serving. When we asked for the check, he didn't even remember what we ordered--we had to tell him. The meatloaf was absolutely delicious and came out quickly, which made the poor service even more frustrating. They only had one kind of dessert left, again with the excuse of being "crazy busy." So first time customers and enjoyed it, however, I must say paying $18 for a hamburger and fries seems high. They have a pretty limited menu may have to go back during the breakfast buffett where for the same $18 I could try it all and have several options. Bloody Mary's were on point! Chef's favorite seasoning is salt. All the food was so salty to the point we couldn't finish. Even the salad tasted like it was washed in ocean water. Ambience was beautiful and the outside patio was lovely. Heated and covered that we were safe in a rain storm. Service was quick and our wait staff was lovely. This is just about their brunch buffet. We live nearby so we go a lot but never for brunch. I have to say, we were pleasantly surprised how good it was. I mean. it's a buffet so expectations are never super high but everything was fresh, hot and well prepared. I never heard anything about it so we were a little wary. Highly recommend!!! One of the best restaurants in the area. Definitely on the higher price scale, but the view and seating with the fire outside are worth it! Went here for dinner one day and ordered a couple different dishes and it all came out timely, after complimentary warm rolls & butter. The food was tasty & large portions. I had leftovers, and the other two in my party split their meal and then got dessert. All of which was amazing! The service was great, our glasses were always full. I recommend the sweet tea! A note on chicken pasta I ordered is that it is very lemony! I thought maybe it would have a slight lemon flavor with butter but the lemon was definitely overpowering, so just know that when you order it. If you like that then you'll love the dish! I am new to the are and like to explore my surroundings... normally treat myself 2x month to a decent restaurant and heard good things about The CK. Its a 25 minute drive for me, so I checked their hours online/ said they closed at 8pm, I arrived at 6:30. The hostess said she would be with me in a minute, next thing I knew, a waitress approached me and said sorry we are closed. I looked around and a 4 top and a 2 top were still looking at menus.... before I could say anything else... the waitress said we are closing at 7pm tonight... so I said "okay then its only 630!" The waitress then replied we stopped seating at 6:20 ..WHAT!!?? I am only 1 person, and would be in / out way before the 4 top that was still looking at menus... The waitress simply turned around and walked away which upset me further. I drove 25 minutes to be turned away an hour and half before closing. CHANGE YOUR ONLINE HOURS! This location has changed hands numerous times I've the last 10 years. The area struggles to keep restaurants outside the summer/ tourist season. The Cooper Kettle is the place for a great steak in the area. Salads are fresh. Prices are on the higher end for this area but are comparable to locations in Roanoke Lynchburg, or Charlottesville. This restaurant is a huge hit with us. KK, our waitress was very engaging and attentive. The hot Italian with the fresh roll was absolutely out of this world. The burger had a very nice chargrilled flavor. I put it on top of my salad, which was a nice mixture of greens. I'm a bit of a salad snob, so I appreciated the fresh greens. Fries were a big hit. Had my birthday dinner at CK. Menu is FULL:) Started off with the dry rubbed SW wings for app, they were gigantic, crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside fantastic. The Shrimp and Grits were to die for. I went with the meatloaf instead. Meatloaf mood is indicative of a need for homemade comfort food that indeed tastes homemade, without tasting over recipied. The broccoli were steamed perfectly, and mashed potatoes were mashed with precision:) our waitress Nina, and waiter Brandon were attentive and not overbearing, very good representatives of CK. For dessert, we had triple chocolate cake, and keylime cheesecake, need I say more, FREAKIN delicious!!
