We were seated outside with 28 people. The manager gave us one server. The sender was great, but alone. Meanwhile inside they had many more servers. It took over 45 minute to get drinks and 90+ minutes for food. The manager should be fired for not distributing servers for a larger group. Do NOT come here with a group and do not come here if you have less than 90 minutes to eat. I had to give a1 star, wanted to give a zero. read more

Never was spoken to by any employee. We stood for a while because nothing said to seat our selves but after a bit we did anyway. After waiting another five minutes or so I found menu's. Still no one acknowledged we were there. A customer said they have a new waitress that is wonderful but what about the bartender that saw us she could of mentioned to someone were there, the man walking in and out of the kitchen or the only person I saw waiting tables and cleaning them. Not one person acknowledged us until we were getting in our car and that was the customer. Good luck with this place and don't worry I nor anyone I know will ever try again. The food has always been pretty good (which is the only reason for 2 stars), but the last two times the service has been less than stellar. We waited 15 minutes before a waitress even came to the table. She said the hostess did not tell her we had been seated, which I can buy that story and give grace for that mishap. My wife ordered the soup and a salad, and did not get any silverware. The waitress was supposed to go get some silverware after she dropped the food off, but never did. I had to get up and get it for my wife, and when I did, what they gave me didn't have a spoon in it for the soup. We asked Jenn, a waitress there, to get a spoon, and she was helpful. My son ordered chicken tenders and needed ranch. Jenn also went to get it and got us refills. it was like our waitress took our order and went on vacation! read more

My wife and I are in town and decided to try MJ's and we're delighted. The brunch was fantastic. She had the Monte Cristo. The French toast sandwich was to die for I had the Breakfast Bayou which was unlike any breakfast dish I've had, and will absolutely be back next time I'm in town for another. We shared fried pickles which were perfect (we're fried pickle lovers). The atmosphere was super impressive compared to other restaurants we've been in the area. Prices were good too. Have to mention mama, who greeted us when we arrived. She was so nice, and kept checking in on us. Our server was great too. MJ's is a good place for a very casual lunch or dinner. The atmosphere is warming. It's a bar and grill so dont expect fresh ingredients with the food you order, not the best place the criticize the steak lol although the prices are on the steep side. It's a casual and laid back spot. Service was good the one time I visited. There was a very energetic and entertaining lady running the host podium, she was funny lol. read more

We just left this place and will never be back. Our waiter had no clue what he was doing and brought our bill back to us 3 times incorrectly. He said it was a shift change and we had to pay before he left. Thirty minutes later he was still trying to figure out which credit cards belonged to which customers. Grabbed a quick meal at MJ's Grill & Bar while passing through this week. The waitstaff were welcoming and attentive. The food was not bad and we felt the prices were fair. My mom and I each ordered different burgers and my dad ordered a pulled pork sandwich. My dad got a side salad with his meal and it looked delicious. We liked the sweet potato fries slightly more than the regular fries, but that didn't stop us from clearing our plates. read more

We arrived for dinner on a Friday evening. We were greeted and quickly seated. Service and food were amazing. We will be back!

The service here was subpar at best, and even that is being generous. Our waitress was trying her best but was unable to fulfill any of our requests in a timely manner. We were waiting upwards of 15 minutes just to get our drink orders in. We waited an additional 10 minutes to put our food orders in. The restaurant was out of more items than items on the menu. Asked for salmon, "we are out." Asked for crackers for soup and chili, "we are out." Asked for coke, "we have Pepsi, but we are out of regular Pepsi, all we have is diet." At one point the waitress explained that she had a whole list of things that they were out of. At a certain point, you wonder if a restaurant is out of literally half of the items of the menu, why not close down until you can do your job? I mean a restaurant that doesn't have half of the food that they advertise? You literally had one job. The food was a literal train wreck. You would've been better off to go to the auto parts store next door because at least over there you would get what you ordered for. My steak was raw coming out of the kitchen, I understand that some people like a raw ribeye, but how do you mess up a medium ribeye. Even after sending it back to the kitchen, it was not fully cooked to medium. We ordered a pulled pork sandwich, the bread was more saturated with grease than actual pork. The chicken tenders we ordered with a side salad, come out with three small tenders and the entire house salad. The only thing that they managed not to mess up was a hamburger. This restaurant is a perfect example of a mismanaged, understaffed, and over-rated. If you are thinking about coming to this restaurant, you need to turn around, run in the opposite direction, and take yourself to Walmart and by a microwave meal. Not gonna lie, I came here 1,000% for the brunch Monte Cristo and it did not disappoint. As somewhat of a connoisseur of them, I have high expectations and I'm happy to report this was on par with the one I love at Disney which is really saying something. I want to give this new venue the benefit of the doubt. Friends have dined here and weren't very impressed. It's tough to open a new place, so I waited a while to visit to let them work through the soft opening phase. I visited the other day and went away disappointed. The bartender was friendly and attentive even as she dealt with some disruptive customers, one of whom was eventually asked by the manager to leave. The food was the biggest disappointment. I ordered what the menu described as New England style Clam chowder with gnocchi. What I received was a bowl of gritty white gravy without a clam in sight. I believe the cook either minced some clams and uncooked onion with an immersion blender, or perhaps in a conventional blender. Either way, the result was an overly thick blend of more gravy than chowder. The finely diced raw onion and clam gave the "chowder" a terrible mouth feel. I may give them another shot and order something more conventional to see how the kitchen handles more simple fare. It can only get better. One more thing. I sat at the bar where the hostess station is near an open wooden divider. The wait staff came over several times and were complaining to the host about not getting their share of tables and other issues. The fish and chip were good, but skinned trout is a very strange choice for fish and chips. Again, good, but cod would be a better choice - cheaper and no skin. Probably wouldn't get it again. The tarter sauce was average, nothing special. The servers were all attentive, even the ones that weren't ours, asking if we needed anything. I've been disappointed every time I've gone but this time was by far the worst. Their "Fish and Chips Special" was some of the cheapest pieces of frozen cod you could get at Walmart. I ordered a steak and vegetables with a baked potato. I ordered the steak medium rare and it arrived well done and very dry, The vegetables were grilled, just not today, and were burned and cold. The only good part was the potato and that was just ok. service was very slow and they had very few customers in the restaurant, and now I see why. There aren't a lot of options in Bedford but this is a great one. We have eaten here 3 times and have never had a bad meal. Prices are reasonable and you get a lot of food for the money. The owner often comes around and personally checks in on customers. The wait staff has always been friendly and attentive. Food comes out quickly and is hot. I love the Mediterranean Steak Salad. There is nice outside covered seating. I do have so agree with some of the other reviews, the AC can be really cold and feels likes it's blowing straight down on you. So if you tend to be cold, bring a sweatshirt with you. read more

The recent change in management has caused a shakeup and a few of the best waitstaff are now gone. Food quality is usually good if you don't mind waiting an unreasonably long time. Last night our waiter didn't place the order with the kitchen until 45 mins after we were seated! Twenty other patrons seated after us all got their food before my party! When I asked him about the reason for the delay, he simply said I'll go check. When the new manager came to the table, we were told that our order had just been given to the kitchen ten minutes ago! No acceptance of responsibility from the waiter. He got NO TIP and I generally give 30% or better! No way I will return here even after the $20 discount on our check. We were little hesitant to try M j's based on some of the reviews but I'm very glad we did. We started with the jambalaya which fortunately our waitress warned us was quite spicy and was very, very good. My husband had the sirloin which was cooked to perfection and very well flavored. I had the mediterranean steak salad which was also cooked to perfection and very tasty. We passed on dessert because we were both full but will definitely save room for it next time. Went to MJ's not too long after it first opened and had an underwhelming experience w/ both food & service. I usually try to give places a second chance before writing them off. Went again recently and had a much better experience. Our server Myles was awesome. Friendly, polite & attentive. The food is good but not great. As a friend of mine pointed out, it's still basically Applebee's (the former tenant) menu & food quality without Applebee's on the sign & door. With all that being said, I would return for a decent quick dinner. The draft beer selection is pretty decent & the bar itself seemed to be hopping. My family and I went to MJ's last night for dinner. Some of us had been once before and rest of us, first time. The decor is nice, the music playing in the restaurant was a pleasant surprise. For those of us in our 50's we loved the ELO and other flashback vibes. Service was very good. Our server was attentive and knowledge on the food choices. I wish I had taken pictures of our dishes but was so excited when they came out we forgot. The ribs are as are the mashed potatoes. Roasted vegetables perfection and steaks so good. We had the pleasure of meeting the owner, which is also the head chef, culinary teacher and general manager. He strives for perfection. If you're not pleased with any dish you receive, speak up, just don't put a negative review without giving him a chance to make it right. He gets it. We learned they order fresh seafood from the Chesapeake on Friday's! All of the dishes are homemade with locally sourced ingredients. We will return!! read more

OMG!!!! This place, I would give more stars if I could. Everything about this place was phenomenal. Our family (live in Vinton, Va) got tired of the usual steak places because the quality had gone down so much and prices were rising. My family of 6 came here tonight and all got different dishes and sides and the food made our mouths water in between bites. Every thing was fresh and cooked to absolute perfection. My FILs bday was today and the owner/executive chef/creator came to our table to wish him Happy Birthday and tell us all about the restaurant and dishes.
