I am so disgusted with the lack of service thIs place has given me lately. I purchased a Bernina machine from them and have sewn on it for less than six hours before having major issues with it. Mind you, I paid over $11,000 for this machine as Bernina is supposed to have a stellar reputation. Well, that went out the window when my thread started coming out of its clip as I am sewing seams, wrapping underneath the needle causing skipped stitches and major rats nests. Every fourth stitch I had to stop my sewing and make sure the thread has not come out of the clip that is supposed to hold it. If I do not catch it, it then takes me at least 15 extra minutes to either re-sew the seam where the stitches skipped or have to get the rats nest out of the machine (which has locked up the mechanisms) and undo the mess from my fabric without ruining my fabric. This has caused me MAJOR frustration and stress. When I discussed the issue with Brenda (without having to haul my beast of a machine in) I fully expected her to go over threading of the machine with me to see if that was my problem. That did not happen. All I got was to look at a similar machine and show her where the problem was occurring. Then her response to me was "Oh that happens all the time." When I told her that was unacceptable and I can not sew on a machine like that she said I would have to bring it in. So I hauled the beast in the next day, again fully expecting someone to go over the basics with me. Again that did not happen - I guess everyone is too busy to deal with you once your money is spent. That's the feeling I get. Gina did not bother to look at how the machine was threaded or sew on it to experience the problem. Instead I was told I would have to leave it for the repair man. When I asked how long that would take I did not get any sort of estimation. Just got a call from the repair man asking me what the issue was. REALLY?!?!?!!! No one even mentioned to him what the problem was so I had to go over it all again - for the third time!!!! And it's difficult to explain where the issue is occurring over the phone. Both times I was in the shop I physically showed each lady where the issue was happening. This couldn't be relayed????? I have always been a good customer spending lots of money in this shop and this is how I am being treated. No more. I don't even want this POS machine back. I will be returning all of the elements and they can figure out how to reimburse me for my time and trouble - again, over $11,000 for this POS and no one bothered trying to help. Thanks but no thanks. I have three Pfaffs in AK and have NEVER had to take them in for servicing - one of them being over 40 years old! I am experienced with machine maintenance and sewing and will NEVER recommend a Bernina or The Copper Needle. So I just got a call back from the repair man. Apparently the problem was in fact a threading issue (which is what I had tried to get to the bottom of). This infuriates me further as this could have been resolved if either Brenda OR Gina would have taken a moment - just a moment - to look at how I was threading the machine. Simple basic measures would have resolved my frustration. Now my machine has been out of my hands for 6 days when I could've taken it home and been sewing on it. Time lost. DISGUSTING!!! Buy a Pfaff and don't waste your time. To make matters worse, by the time I have to drive back in to pick up the machine I will have driven 180 miles to resolve this very simple issue when it could've been resolved on day ONE without having to haul my machine in! read more

What a sweet fabric shop!!! You will really love all the fabric and notions stocked inside this joyful, quilt shop!!! If you love to be amongst color and have a need to touch textures, plan on stopping by for a very friendly place!! The owner, Gina Perkes-Tidwell, is a well known, award winning, quilter and is such a charming person who works hard to make you feel comfortable with quilting and that's so important if it's a new adventure for you or even if you've been sewing all your life! I came up from Tucson to take a 2 day class on how to operate, maintain and play with my new Innova longarm quilting machine. Gina is the best teacher I have met in a long time!! She took time to answer all my questions and concerns, she had me practice hands on and met my personal needs head on! I'm disabled and she was even knowledgeable on how to meet my special needs so that I could feel comfortable enough to go home to Tucson and start my own business!!! I had a very, warm fuzzy feeling inside when I left after 2 days. I even had a promise to receive another free class at a later date and can choose whatever area I feel I might need some extra help. I cannot thank Gina enough for all the personal attention and I loved the atmosphere of such a full 2 days...we played with working! We shared problems and concerns! We even invented a solution to a quilting problem! Thank you so much Gina for an event which I never will forget and will treasure until I see you again!!!! read more

Gina Perkes is definitely talented in designing quilts. But talent and business acumen are not the same thing. The only reason I gave three stars and not less is I was given a full refund on the quilt I had made. I wish I had followed the instructions I have written below. I claim that I chose a matching muslin for my back and bias, my quilt was delivered with a yellow back and bias. I detest yellow in anything outside of nature. Ms. Perkes claims that she cut the backing fabric as soon as I left, which she may have. My quilt top was in large rectangles , not pieced together. I had the top pieces lying in a box for ten years and didn't remember the size. There were multiple bolts of fabric on the cutting table. It's my belief that either the wrong fabric was cut or it was cut at a later date. I changed the shape of the quilt some time between six and nine months from a basic rectangle to one with scalloped edges. Suggestions if you have a quilt put together here. 1. Get a set date for quilt to be finished. I said that I wasn't in a hurry never expecting it would take seventeen months, multiple trips and phone calls to finally get my quilt. 2. If you purchase fabric for the backing and bias for your already pieced top make sure to get swatches. 3. Get a copy of the contract. read more

I purchased one of Gina Perkes quilting rulers from her. It was called a "Geraldine" circle ruler and it seemed like a great idea. Unfortunately, when I first went to use it, it fell to the carpeted floor beneath my sewing desk and broke all to bits. It is made of acrylic and shouldn't be that fragile. The reason for this poor rating is that when I contacted them and told them of the situation they never even bothered to respond to my two emails. Sad, sad, customer service. read more
