Josh, I think, helped me straight away at the counter. We fiddled with it, ultimately opened up the back and removed/re-installed the chip. Bingo. Sounds silly, but to listen, look, fiddle, and repair my laptop at the counter for 15 minutes is excellent service to me. Did I mention there was NO CHARGE. He also told me I still had a good laptop, i5 Pentium, though 4 years old. He suggested I just get a $25 USB WiFi adapter if we couldn't fix this one. Now, I knew most of this already, but it was nice that he didn't try to up-sell me or feed me some line about mother-board, socket-broken, blah, blah...
