It is a bit confusing when you walk in since there is no hostess or seat yourself sign. Seating yourself was the right answer. The waitress was very nice and kept my drinks full. I had the short-order roast beef sandwich with mashed potatoes. The roast beef was tender and delicious and covered in plenty of gravy. I did have to add a lot of salt and pepper since everything was a bit bland.

I interrupted and asked if they're still taking orders, she replied with yes. We go back to our booth and as we're sitting down we hear them laughing at my boyfriend for him wording the question wrong. She comes over and apologizes. Order our food, could have been better but not terrible. We ask for the check, go to the register. Our check was $23.75, we pay with $40, considering they don't take cards. Our correct change should have been $16.25. I assume they'd already taken the money out of the register because a woman by the counter was counting the money. She hands our waitress the money. We leave a $3.25 tip and we walk out, I asked my boyfriend to double check the change because something didn't seem right. We had $8 after our $3 tip which didn't make sense because we should've had $13. We go back in and inform them we didn't get the correct change and we got attitude and very rude facial expressions. The money ($5) wasn't the issue at all, but the woman and the waitress knew we didn't get our correct change to begin with. Our waitress throws the $5 on the counter. This isn't my first bad experience at this place but I can promise it will be the last time I give them my service.

So that what we tried. They serve breakfast all day and offer carry out. Walking in, it was the standard, small town welcome. Everyone (staff and patrons) looks at you and stares. Even after you say hello, they just stare at you. As a person of color who has been refused service in a small town restaurant (Lynchburg VA) I get really self conscious. I was not sure if was order up or seat yourself. There were no signs or staff instructions. Luckily our friendly and lovely waitress ( Mickey) acknowledged my wife and I. We got our seat and ordered. Lots of seating options. Can seat groups of up to 6. The menu has lots of options, but even more are posted on the wall...they have something for everyone. The portions are big and prices are very decent. Our waitress was friendly but slow only because she was the only one in the front and the place was packed it took over an hour to get our food. Having time to sit ana wait for our food. It appeared that the kitchen staff was new and the morning staff ended their shift as we got there. So with lack of proper turn over, there was a bit of confusion. The food was OK. Nothing to spectacular but not bad or poor quality. They had scrapple which is hard to find.

It obviously is catered to an older crowd, which is fine, and other places do that way worse. We walked in and were greeted by a very cheesy Elvis statue. So that set the tone as we half giggled and cringed. The wait staff was very friendly and allowed us to choose where we wanted to sit. The table and light fixtures seemed clean enough but the floor has definitely seen better days. We were handed a menu that was much smaller than I expected and I was very happy for that. We ordered our food and in less than ten minutes we had it. The food was served nice and warm-hot. We immediately felt that it is a comfort food. The taste was fine but improved after we added salt and pepper (most places that cater to elderly tend to not season their food a lot) and we were more than pleased with the meal. The serving size was spot on for us and the price was more than reasonable. I was not expecting to like it as much as I did and as a result will definitely go again next time I'm in the area and feeling hungry.

We got their at 7. and they had to "clean off some tables." That woman disappeared for ten minutes, then sat a group in front of us. I had about had it but but my lip and we were sat. Then we had three waitresses wait on us and struggle with our drink order before we got our final waitress who was a nice younger girl. That was about the nicest part of the outing. My crown and diet was watered down by the time it got to me. Yikes. I ordered a French onion soup to start. It looked good with the bread and melted cheese - but it was basically just cooked onions with no broth at all. Yikes again. For my meal I got the New York strip with peppercorn sauce and baked potato with veg. Well... the steak WAS NOT a strip steak - it was more like a ribeye. It wasn't cooked medium as I asked - it was a medium rare then rare then purple finish. The broccoli I received must have previously been located next to power lines - bc the vegetation on the stalks were trimmed off, and the peppercorn sauce was more like yogurt and flavorless with pepper sprinkled on top. Oh and the baked potato? It was a HALF that was plated in a way to seem like that was by design. Yikes. I'm usually able to suck it up, but if I'm paying $80 you have to bat at least 2/4. They went 0/4 and the bay never got off their shoulders. Won't be back. Sorry.

We were served a free glass of champagne by characters from a play at a local theatre. It was confusing for customers that didn't know what was happening.

I will say that the wait staff is fine and deserves a fair amount of grace. They can only do so much. If I were the owner I would fire the kitchen manager, the bar manager, and myself out of embarrassment. The entire system needs thrown out and redone. Perhaps just sell the building to someone who actually cares about the business and wants to make proper changes. Once again, the food took forever to come out, and after well over two hours we only got two of four items ordered. The quality of the food was fair to poor at best. You will never find yourself craving anything from here. Then you have the poorly stocked bar. They ran out of three things while we were there. All before 8pm on a Saturday. Their whisky selection is embarrassing for a place with a Cigar Lounge. At this point we will only go back for events and we will be either eating before or just taking our own food to eat there. Probably our own drinks too since they can't seem to do that right. Mismanaged. Uninspired. Underwhelming. Embarrassing. Wasteful. Shameful.
