Our power was out, so we decided to go out for breakfast. We figured since we had such a good dinner here, breakfast would also be good. WRONG!! It was actually one of the worst omelettes, saisage patty and scrambled dggs we have had to suffer through. The saisage patty was hard and the eggs brown and dry, due to having been cooked on an extremely hot surface. Each tasted bad and we will not return. Back to Bob Evans for breakfast. The menu does not reflect an up-charge for an alternate cheese in the omelette and the server did not mention it when she asked which cheese I'd like. Service was not as good as the evening staff. My dad and I stopped here for lunch on our way home. I was hoping to grab something around ten or eleven, but unfortunately they don't start serving lunch until noon. Not a huge deal, just a little disappointing. I ordered the two eggs and toast along with the French toast, and my dad had the biscuits and gravy with eggs and home fries. Everything tasted fine overall, but the home fries and French toast were a bit overdone, and my toast was slightly undercooked. The coffee was standard diner hot-plate coffee. Service was decent, though a little on the slow side. Overall, not bad -- just a few small things that kept it from being great. read more

No frills diner with warm and attentive service. Was a nice spot for a warm meal after camping in the rain for a few days.

A small place with TONS of character, the Filling Station checks all the boxes. Our lunch was amazing, with my BLT exactly as I like it. Fast and friendly service along with decent pricing, I look forward to stopping in on every trip through the area. Our server was happy to chat, while making sure everyone was taken care of. As soon as we walked in, we realize this was definitely the place to eat. There were so many people coming out with takeout containers, and the atmosphere was friendly and inviting. We stepped in the door with the staff greeting us within seconds. It was seat yourself, which we didn't have an issue with and found a nice booth aside the Bride and Groom skeletons. Sunday Brunch menu was well presented and had we known or taken into account customers leaving with take out containers we saw on the way in we may have ordered differently. In any case this place was awesome! The chip beef gravy over the square biscuits was incredible and the price point was unbelievable. The biscuits were soft and flaky, and the gravy, warm, delicious, and plenty of it, covering the whole plate. In addition to that I ordered one pumpkin pancake and it was the largest pancake I have ever seen served up and I'm glad I did not order two because I thought I was going to get one about the size of a dessert plate not the size of a charger plate. It was served up with its own ginger syrup which I added a little bit, in addition to their sugar-free syrup. The pancake tasted like it was a traditional slice of pumpkin pie served up in pancake form. It's highly, HIGHLY recommended. My wife ordered the biscuits with sausage, gravy and fried eggs with a side of potatoes, and she ordered a plain pancake. It was equally as delicious, her biscuits were just as fluffy and delicious, and the sausage gravy was out of this world with enough to cover the biscuits and the fried egg with plenty extra to go around. The fried potatoes were overflowing on a dessert sized plate, and more than enough for both of us to share, and she absolutely loved her pancake and was equally in awe as to the size as it was presented to us on a very large plate as well. We ordered water and coffee and both were refilled continually by our very friendly server. I loved that the coffee was served in a clear glass coffee cup. Very nice touch. It's a simple, unpretentious diner with a short menu and low prices and friendly staff. The atmosphere now standard small town diner, which is a great thing. Service was fast and the food all up to par. Three of us can get a very filling breakfast there with a lot of coffee and a couple extra sides for $30. Went here for breakfast on a locals suggestion. Had sausage gravy , homemade square biscuits and fresh sausage patty. Best breakfast I have had in years. Creamy gravy and delicious sausage and the biscuits were soft and fluffy. Our waitress Dee was so sweet and Dave the cook was very nice. A super great experience. Stopped here recently for some breakfast. I have checked in and eaten here several times over the years but haven't sat down to write a review. First thing is first - you may miss it if you aren't looking as it is located in one-half of a building. There are booths and tables for seating and overall it seems like the same crew roll in there everyday. I ordered an egg cheese and ham omelette, adding one pancake as their pancakes on the menu being as big as my head. And they are. Omelette was good- but the ham wasn't cut that much and there were huge chucks that make eating it very difficult as the ham chunks just would separate and I. Couldn't get a jam-packed bite wver. However, it tasted well. The pancake was traditional and was very good. However, the syrup came in little cups with lids and was more of a traditional maple sweet syrup rather than the dark store bought type with the big name brands. Don't want to be picky but I didn't like the syrup. Overall very good. Would like to come back and have it again. read more

We took a different route east that went through La Vale, and discovered The Filling Station. It's a little tough to find but well worth the search. We felt immediately at home with a very welcoming and attentive staff. I had the Sunshine Stack and my wife had Biscuits and Gravy. We had plenty of delicious food between us. This was all scratch made and excellent. The sausage gravy was the best we've ever had and full of flavorful sausage. The biscuits were light, fluffy, and very tender. The American Fries were plentiful enough for two and perfectly done. We'll make this our new route so that we can stop here again. read more

This has to be one of the cutest little diners ever! It's clean, we found no trouble with the size of the booths and the food was very good, service was friendly & swift! We were passing by on the highway & Yelped a place for an early dinner. It's a little white building right on National Highway on the corner with minimal signage so it's easy to drive by. Don't! It's well worth the stop! I had a hamburger w/my choice of toppings (homemade horseradish, lettuce & tomato), my husband had fried shrimp, beans, and a baked potato. We each had a fresh side salad with home made blue cheese dressing and a cold beer. With a nearly 25% tip our total was $32! What a find! Came in for breakfast on Mothers Day...11:45 we show up. Woman takes my drink order at 11:50 clearly sees me looking at Breakfast menu. Comes back at 1205 with drinks and tells me Breakfast is over hon sorry.... The 15 min wait was just so she didnt have to serve me breakfast... There was 1 other couple in the store and 2 + wait staff so theres no exudes for the 15 min wait for a soda. Requested Togo cups because they refused to server breakfast after making us sit there for 20mins. Woman sets them on table and walks away. Ate here this evening. Don't know what all the hype is about. Our order consisted of a fish sandwich and fries and a Ruben and fries. My fish wasn't bad. However, the corned beef, on the other sandwich was fried which made it very stringy and tough. Very difficult to eat and the sour kraut was way too sour of the sandwich. I recently moved back home and I have to say that The Filling Station is a cozy family run restaurant right off of the road in with plenty of parking. I ordered the crab cake sandwich meal (with fries) with a slice of their finest cheese cake. That being said I dare say that their crab cake sandwich is the best in the local area and the cheese cake I would say is on par if not better than the popular chain the cheese cake factory. Lastly after having a conversation with the owner and chief at this establishment I learned that everything there is made from scratch which explains their great quality food. Amazing! No doubt you will be filled when you leave here. I've tried quite a few sandwiches and hands down they win on the chicken and hot roast beef. It is home cooking from scratch at it's best. The wait staff is very nice and helpful. The food arrives in a timely manner every time, despite how crowded it may be. The atmosphere is laid back with "home"y decor. Better than expected but still a greasy hole in the wall diner. Everything is fried and breaded just FYI. The cream of chicken soup was delicious although questionable at first sight. The chacho chips were good - ask for the sour cream and jalapeños on the side. The the onion rings were also very good - the batter is thick though, like pancake batter. The high octane sandwich was definitely the best - lots of salt and jalapeños though beware. The crab cake fell short - had a weird aftertaste.
