Excellent breakfast when you just like no frills and decent food. Three of us got pancakes and my pecan pancakes with turkey sausage were fantastic. Took the waitress' advice and only got a single and I couldn't even finish it, while my 13 year old son managed to eat two giant chocolate chip pancakes and his side of bacon (where does it go??). Husband got an omelette and a biscuit and gravy and enjoyed all of it. They had a huge party of 12 in there which made it a little loud, but service was speedy still. I visited here on for breakfast on Father's Day. We arrived about 11:45am. The restaurant is located in the downtown area. I was surprised I got a close parking spot. The restaurant was m pretty packed on arrival. There was only 1 clean booth open. There was a large table but it needed to be cleaned. We opted to wait for the table to be cleaned due to us being a party of 5. We were seated around 11:55am and given paper menus and silverware. The menu was a little dirty as it had spots on it. Around 12:03pm, waitress took order. They didn't have a kids menu available for breakfast. Waitress said it was pancakes and fries or fruit, I believe... The kids menu for lunch items is on the menu already. I got the pancake and 2 tenders with a side of home fries. After ordering, I noticed the use paper/plastic bowls and plates for the food of customers who were already eating. I thought this was definitely different. However, it is easy clean up. The food came at 12:25pm. One of my pancakes was over cooked on one side.. however, the home fries were delicious. I ended up getting a second pancake because I thought my order came with two, but it worked out since my first one crappy. The 2nd pancake was nice and golden! With the plastic plates.. they gave me a plate with sections for my pancake... that's not very conducive to cutting and eating a pancake. This restaurant definitely gives me diner vibes. I can tell it's a popular small town place that is often frequented by the locals. The service, in my opinion, was a little slow especially as it was not as busy once we were sat. The waitress added extra than what the menu reflected on my check. So I was lied about the prices I was paid for. On top, the blond lady charged me for another customer meal and when I said so she refunded me with change from the drawer and shorted me so I actually didn't get refunded. We went to the Corner I gotta pee Café and we were waited on by Probably one of the rudest waitresses.. she took our order gave us our tea. My husband and I sat and waited other people were seated after us and they were getting their food. The waitress ignored us completely wouldn't even come to the table. We asked another waitress where our food was and she said something but couldn't understand her. Then my husband asked a guy that was cleaning the tables if he could help with getting our food. Then it appeared that all of the waitstaff and hostess were huddled together trying to figure out what to say. I just asked them how much the tea was and the hostess said don't worry about it. This was an hour that we sat - I completely understand being busy I understand forgetting to put the ticket in but to totally ignore your table that's uncalled for. We were avoiding the interstates on this Thursday before Memorial Day and when we arrived in town, we noticed the Corner Cafe. We took our seat and after almost 10 minutes, I had to go locate menus. Our server finally arrived with some, but of course we didn't need them. This is a typical small town watering hall with all the locals and shop owners eating and visiting. In fact when we left we headed to a precious antique store but a sign on the door stated,"I'm down at the Corner Cafe. Back in 20 minutes." The food was ok, the service was ok, the prices were ok. We were hungry so we were just glad to have a quick brunch. I had the grits and toast and their grits were really good...rich and creamy, not watery. The service from the beginning was not good. We had a waitress who was rude from the time she set us down-no greeting just "sit here". The waitress that took over was a little better initially but it wasn't long before she was not polite either-reaching across individuals to pass plates. It took a long time for the food to come out only to discover it was not real seafood but frozen out the box breaded flounder and breaded out the box chicken tenders. So poor service and food that was not good or fresh seafood. I do not recommend and will not return. We had 7 people in the party and everyone was disappointed. To top it off when paying, our food was laid on the counter and we the issue was addressed we were told it was because everyone doesn't wash their hands so she doesn't want to touch everyone's hands. Stopped here this morning after taking a drive out exploring as we just moved to the area. I am a huge fan of small hole in the wall restaurants and was excited to grab breakfast. Unfortunately, it was less than a pleasant experience. We were promptly sat down but it took awhile for the waitress to even hand us a menu. There was a family that came in several minutes after us and the waitress started taking their order. The father informed the waitress that we were there before them and she told him we had already ordered. Once we were able to order, it took the food quite awhile to come out. We ordered French toast, scrambled eggs, bacon, ham and has browns. At first we were almost given someone else's food. The service was subpar to say the least. On to the food. Most small diners have amazing food. This place does not fall into the category of most. The Ham was extremely thin, very salty, and overly dry. My daughter took one bite and asked.me if she could have my hashbrowns. The bacon was way over cooked and crumbled when you took a bite. The French toast is not made with this Texas Toast bread. It looked as thigh it was regular wheat bread. Even the scrambled eggs were bland. I had to douse them with pepper just to give it a bit of flavor. I gave two stars because another waitress, not ours, kept our drinks filled and was very polite. However, I really don't see a second visit to this establishment again. read more

Had the pork chops, cabbage and rice and gravy. The pork chop was grilled as asked for and it could not have tasted any better. The rice and gravy was excellent but the cabbage although some people like it that way was slightly undercooked. When asking the owners daughter why, she responds with only our regular customers request glass plates. Now my question is how do you know as a person that doesn't frequent this location to ask for glassware. So let me set the stage for you my family African American comes in to eat. Every other couple or family while we are there are caucasian. How would you feel everyone around you being served on glass and your family eating off paper plates. I was told by friends this was a really good place to eat. Boy was I disappointed. I ordered the ham and cheese omelet, hash browns and toast. The omelet was overcooked and all the food was cold when delivered. The server brought the food on a tray, sat it on the table and went to talk to another customer. Service is very good the dining experience is what you would expect from a primarily morning and brunch Café that's open till 2pm. I went with my husband and grandchildren, ages 8 and 14. Everyone ordered hamburgers , except me. I ordered a basket of fried shrimp. Big mistake! The shrimp was cooked to a hard crisp, almost burnt! No one came back to the table, until a bill was presented, so I couldn't complain about the shrimp. While waiting to get the only waitress's attention, my grandchildren ate them. How, I don't know! Went to breakfast and was completely astonished! Wonderful place full of local people and wonderful food! Ordered eggs over - medium and that is what I got! Perfect! We waited for an hour to get our food. Others were served before our family. When half of our order arrived, we were then told they were out of green beans which I had ordered for the kids but they were cooking broccoli. I am pretty sure they put in the order for broccoli by mistake since I had ordered that. They only brought out one grilled cheese when I had ordered two kids plates. My husband went ahead and shared his cheeseburger with my son since we had already waited an hour. We were never offered refills during the long wait and no explanation as to what was going on other than it takes about twenty minutes to cook the cheeseburger. I will not be returning here due to the wait time, lack of clear communication between waitress and cook, as well as lack of communication to us during the process. The person who appeared to be the lead waitress or kitchen support staff discounted our ticket for us which was kind of her. It would have been better to have just stopped at McDonald's even though I try to support local places when I can. I shared my feedback with the lady who discounted my ticket hoping she will share with owner. I really would like for small towns to have local restaurants but if this experience continues with others, this restaurant may not last very long.
