What an amazing place in such a small town. This restaurant would rival anything in Raleigh or Carey. Even Asheville. The food and the staff are amazing. And the ambiance is spot on. We had the rabbit with pasta on special and the fried green tomatoes. Delicious. If you are in Whitesville, splurge to your amazement this place exists in such a small town.

My husband and I dined here this past Friday (16 August 2024). It's an hour away from where we live in Leland. One couple joined us for the evening and it was a first visit for all of us. Another friend of ours had recommended this place a few months back, as well as my husband's doctor (on a recent visit) who works in Whiteville. The interior provides a casual atmosphere with black table clothes and chairs, street lamps, and potted plants around the room. The tables are nicely set apart. While this place is casual - no need to dress up - the food and service is excellent. Kimberly was our waitress, who was attentive and patient while we went through the menu trying to decide what to order. So many good choices! The menu is a mix of French and Asian foods. Both couples ordered the Cambodian eggrolls and fiery sweet Thai shrimp appetizers. In addition, one friend ordered the onion soup (bowl). While waiting for our appetizers, Chef Sokun came to our table and talked with us for a few minutes. She also wanted to make sure we knew how to eat the Cambodian eggrolls, as well as welcoming us. Yes, my husband and I knew how: take a lettuce leaf, place the roll, mint, peanuts and dipping sauce on top, roll it up and eat. My husband and I have a favorite restaurant in Hawaii that serves the eggrolls in the same manner. The four rolls were filled with minced chicken and other fresh ingredients; the wrappers were thin and crispy. The Thai shrimp was a large portion, about 8-9 shrimp. They were breaded and fried, and topped with a delicious sauce. Both appetizers were excellent. Such wonderful flavors. We could have shared the appetizers but we wanted our own. For my entrée (and one friend), I had the Beef Bourguignon, which is served with rice. I asked to have roasted potatoes in lieu of the rice. The meat was tender, no knife is needed. The vegetables were nicely cooked in the herb and wine sauce. My husband (and our other friend) had the Cambodian beef, served with jasmine rice. Another excellent dish. The food is outstanding (they use locally sourced, fresh ingredients) and reasonable prices for what you get. Fresh baked bread and butter was served at the table. There is a full bar and a nice long list of wines. I had the "not so classic cosmo" that was very tasty and went down easily. With my entrée, I had a glass of the Cotes due Rhone. The 'Frog' is Guillaume, Chef Sokun's husband, owner of the place. He came to the table a couple of times. On the second time after we finished our meal, we invited him to sit with us, so we all talked for a while. He was very personable and we enjoyed talking to him. I wish they were closer to where we live. We'll have to go back and spend an afternoon in town before having dinner there again (or maybe brunch!). There are other dishes that I want to try. So glad we came here!

The owners are very kind. The restaurant is beautiful and the food is incredible. Today we each had 2oz of A5 Wagu and it was worth every penny. We all also had the Cambodian beef. We get that almost every time. This place is a must!!!

We stumbled upon this diamond in the rough about 8 months ago. We have been back almost every weekend. Every time we have the best experience and leave satiated. Service is phenomenal, owners are so kind and welcoming, and the food... so delish! There is always a surf and a turf special for dinner service and we usually each get one of the specials. You have to check this place out if you're in the Whiteville area.

I've always been fascinated by places like this, and it sounded like a fun way to spend an evening, and it was! The meal came with a salad, entree, and dessert. I had the short ribs and my partner had the Osso Boco, both which were delicious. The portions were nicely sized as well. We certainly did not leave hungry. Our "ghostess" Lori? was wonderful, and a good story teller who was able to connect with everyone and made an enjoyable evening, I suppose my only thoughts on improvement may be to have everyone dine individually around the house first, then gather together for dessert, coffee and cocktails and the entire ghost presentation. Just to make for a more intimate dining experience, but just my thoughts alone. It's truly an amazing space with excellent food, friendly staff and an interesting past. I highly recommend if you're looking for a more elevated meal than the standard Myrtle Beach and Calabash fare.

My mom and sister and I visited from Charleston and planned a trip to Little River specifically to have dinner at The Brentwood and take their ghost tour. The entire evening though was one disappointment after another: from the food to the service to the "ghost tour". Dinner was chaotic before it even began. The menu was changed multiple times by head cook Steve...first the chicken was unavailable, then it was duck, then suddenly chicken Marsala, then back to chicken Caprese. My sister and I went with the chicken caprese and our mom the short ribs. When we finally did get our meals, the chicken dish looked NOTHING like what was described and it was NOT good. It was almost like they just took whatever extra ingredients they had in the kitchen and threw it together to make some type of a chicken pasta dish. They were literally giving away additional plates of it to the other diners during the ghost tour experience for free. My sister and I both left our plates mostly untouched, and our server Lorena didn't ask a single question about why two entrées went back almost full. For the price, it was disappointing to leave hungry. Dessert didn't help either...no one around us finished theirs. And then there was the ghost tour. To call it a "tour" is generous...and it was somehow even worse than dinner. It started with reality TV clips from different ghost hunting show that we could've watched online for free. After that, our guide Steve (yes, the same person who cooked our dinner) led us on what was maybe a 15-minute walk while repeating the same stories multple times he'd already told us earlier in the evening. He seemed extremely disheveled and under the influence of something. His Levi's boxers were literally hanging out of his jeans the entire time. It was unprofessional and uncomfortable. When the "tour" ended, we didn't even bother sticking around to explore the historic property. We were over it. We ended up talking with another couple who had driven in (like us) to celebrate their anniversary, and they were just as disappointed and confused by the whole experience as we were. I absolutely would not recommend this restaurant or the ghost tour to anyone in its current state.

I have given it many opportunities, but it just keeps leaving me disappointed. 1) The service is usually extreeeemely slow. I once waited 35 minutes for a couple sandwiches and coffees. And the place wasn't even mildly busy. The staff just didn't care to prioritize the food orders. I almost left without my food I was so mad. But I still gave it another try! 2) The food is WAY overpriced for what you get. It's insane to have to spend $40+ on super basic cafe food. The crepes are also flimsy, inauthentic, and melt immediately, so don't bother getting them to go. 3) They don't even open until 9:00 am! Um... do they not know they are a coffee shop?! I've tried to go in the morning (when people drink their coffee), and they're closed. Insane to me. Overall, I think this place has potential, it just needs to step it up. It's in a GREAT location!

Unfortunately, our waiter was extremely rude throughout our meal. I'm not sure what his issue was, but his attitude made the entire experience unpleasant. Overall, the food was good, but the service lacked basic manners and communication. I'm vegetarian and also have food allergies, so clear communication is especially important to me. I need to understand exactly what I'm being served, and the restaurant needs to understand my dietary restrictions. I asked our waiter what came on the cheese board (Plateau de Fromages), and his response was simply, "It's a plate of cheese." I found that very condescending because I obviously understood that, I had specifically asked what was on the cheese board. Regardless of having dietary restrictions, I think a majority of people would know what comes on the cheese board given there is no information on the menu. He eventually told me it included three types of cheese, candied pecans and nine-grain bread. However, when it arrived, it also had crostinis, apples, a strawberry, and some type of Jell-O-like item that appeared as though it could contain gelatin. None of those items were mentioned when I specifically asked what was included. We also ordered a crepe to try, which was good. My husband ordered a dish that he enjoyed, and I ordered the Plat d'Oeufs. When ordering, I clearly requested over medium eggs and asked for the sausage to be placed on a separate plate. He responded by saying, "so you want eggs and sausage"and then asked what type of eggs I wanted, so I assumed he hadn't heard my request about the sausage and repeated it. He cut me off and said, "I got that. What type of eggs do you want?" His response felt unnecessarily dismissive, especially since I was simply trying to make sure my dietary restrictions were understood. When my food arrived, the eggs were over hard and almost completely cooked through. I politely explained that I had ordered them over medium. He responded, "Oh, so you want them softer?" I said yes. When he brought the replacement eggs, he made another unnecessary comment, "You wanted them "over easy," even though they were actually much closer to over medium. The food itself wasn't bad, and I certainly wasn't blaming our waiter for how the eggs were cooked, he wasn't the person preparing them. The issue was his attitude and the unnecessary comments throughout the meal. What could have been a nice dining experience was ultimately overshadowed by service that felt condescending, dismissive and unnecessarily rude. In the photo you can tell the egg was not cooked over medium. It was cooked all the way through.
