The food is still good. I'm not totally sure what the deal is but they keep changing they're menu and portions and the ing disiente in the Sandwhiches. Nothing is really the same anymore. Disappointing. I get that companies need to innovate and find new ways to save money while still turning a profit but I realize corner grind has completely changed almost everything. Please stop changing things. There is a reason that people went here. In the last year I have heard more negative feedback through conversations regarding corner grind than good. I currently live in Chicago, but no city cafe beats this small town coffee shop. So many delicious drink options, plus cozy atmosphere, kind staff, fair prices, and a scenic drive through the country. I was recently diagnosed with celiac, but I got sandwiches and treats from here all the time before my diagnosis. Again- the best. Especially the breakfast sandwiches. I love how there are new specials each week. I was also pleased to find out they have a couple gluten free pastry options, separate from the non-GF so there were no worries about cross contact. If there ever comes a day when they have gluten free sandwich options, my life will be made. read more

I am so disappointed with corner grind. I used to love this place but with the new ownership boy has this place gone downhill. The sandwiches are more expensive and significantly smaller, and do not taste as fresh. It doesn't feel like a small business anymore, it has lost all of its charm. Although this is a convenient spot for an ok coffee downtown...... its sad to say corner grind quality has gone only down hill since new ownership. While the portions and quality have decreased, prices have increased. You aren't really getting what you pay for anymore. When you get a $16 sandwich, you would expect more than a single piece of bacon right?? You will be missed corner grind... its sad to say i can no longer recommend this as the best in town. We've been to the Corner Grind many times and everything we've had has been really good. The people are always super helpful and friendly. AND its nice to support a local business owner and not the green machine from Seattle. Also: Free samples!!!!! Their breakfast sandwiches are fantastic and all come on homemade english muffin. She really likes the turkey sausage but the ones w/ onions and and peppers are what I get. The homemade granola bars are also hearty and delicious. The donuts, cinnamon buns, and muffins all look incredible (and huge), but I've never had any. Also really wanna try their lunch options. I always get the house coffee which is very tasty, and she's ordered various smoothies and cappuccinos which all seem to please. read more

I just started grad school and needed to collaborate on a paper with my group member who lives in Dekalb (I live in St. Charles). Elburn was smack dab in the middle for us to meet and The Corner Grind was perfect! They get pretty busy here no matter the time. I came in around 9am and it was quiet but then the morning rush came in, followed by the lunch crowd. They have a big sandwich selection and one rotating daily soup. Had a cup of their steak and potato soup ($2.75) and a 12 oz. soy chai tea latte ($ 3.10). Both were amazing. Service is extremely quick and friendly. Wifi is password free and worked like a charm. If you're a local, don't forget to ask about their punch card so you can work yourself up to a freebie! read more

Had to make the trip because of the reviews. For anyone that looks to yelp to find a new place or great food options - you will love this stop!! We ordered 3 different sandwiches- the 1-3-5, coffee, lemon berry smoothie, an a monkey mocha. And yes, there were three of us . The generous amount of meat and cheese on the sandwich was well worth the 7.50- you could share or save for leftover. It was a bit loud inside but when the food is that good you can give them a pass on noise. If they only had space for a patio this place would have locals standin in line for the food and sweets. One of the best café / coffee shops around. The specials menu (both drinks and food) is always well thought out and even better executed. The high quality ingredients, including as Boar's Head meat make the lunch menu amazing, but I have to make a special call out for the Blackbird sandwich which is a highlight among greatness. It's pretty good. The food is way too expensive and not worth what you pay.. but the drinks are classic and delicious and they even have some special ones they'll make for you. Most of the time they're really friendly but a couple times I've encountered some people ringing me up who had an attitude or looked annoyed. But what can ya do. Sometimes they take a while to make just a latte. I've waited 15 minutes before. Still good when I get it though! Worth it to support small business. read more

Awesome little coffee shop. The coffee (from Sparrow, I think) is excellent, the espresso drinks are well made (perfect traditional macchiato), and the baristas are very friendly. Best of all, their breakfast sandwiches are absolutely fantastic. I love a good, simple breakfast sandwich and their bacon, egg, and cheese on an English muffin is everything it should be. I've heard outstanding things about lunch, too, and it looks great, but I haven't tried it (yet). There isn't a lot of seating, but it's usually easy enough to grab a seat. So I came here a couple weeks ago after searching for bakery stuff. I have to say they didn't have a lot on that part but they also sell sandwiches. I got the Italian one and it didn't disappoint. It's a good price for good meat and veggies on it and it's very fresh. They also stuff the bread so it's very filling. At least for me lol. Also there coffee is very tasty.
