Good old ice cream place in Elburn. It has that and a lot more to get. Alice's is certainly a classic. One of those counter order seasonal places. There's also a bit of inside seating. A lot come here for ice cream of course. It has other cold treats such as slushies. This is a popular place in the summer for sure when there's not much else cool in town. Also it has hot food. There's the usual greasy stuff like burgers, chicken tenders and other meaty stuff. Certainly there's not much healthy of course. The ice cream may be the only thing without heart attack causing greasiness. Counter service like most seasonal places for ice cream. It's usually fast. The inside is pretty cramped but there's also outside seats and tables.

Alice's Place is located in Route 47 in Downtown Elburn. It has plenty of Parking in their parking lot and also on the side street. I stopped by here for some ice cream after a hot day of fishing. The staff was pleasant, they take your order quickly and also process it quickly. I had ice cream in my hand in under 3 minutes. I chose the Large soft serve chocolate waffle cone. The size wasn't as large as I was expecting, but it was delicious regardless. My father got a chocolate malt, and my nephew and brother in law ordered Alice's version of a Blizzard. Everyone was quite pleased with their order. They do ask that you wear a mask at the window when you order due to Covid-19, and the staff all wore masks and gloves as well. Alice's was busy for a Sunday afternoon at 2pm, but it was hot and humid so that's what I would expect. All in all it was a great experience and I would definitely stop there again when I'm in town.

We went there yesterday for dinner and continue to be delighted with the staff as well as the restaurant as a whole. I am always pleased with the staff. Our sever, Deven was on her game. She was quite knowledgeable and knew her menu well. She started us off with the Waygu Wellington Poptarts. The flaky crust that covered the melt in your mouth beef was extraordinaire. For my entree, I had the Blackened Salmon on arugula. This was combined with shaved almonds, strawberries, avocado, and blue cheese! Ever hear someone get excited about a salad? Yes it was that good. Husband had the Sous Vide half chicken with his coveted homemade mashed potatoes and carrots. My husband, the chef was not disappointed. And no meal is complete in his book without dessert. We had the Flourless Chocolate Torte. Quite heavenly. But what meal is complete without dessert? As always look forward to our next visit there!

I ordered a drink but the rest of my table didn't, she rushed it over, then didn't come back to take the appetizer order for a while. Appetizers arrived fairly quickly once we ordered it, but after we finished the appetizers it took over 10 minutes for her to come back to even take the rest of our order. The entrees took a while, in the meantime, they didn't bother refreshing our water or even give us more bread to help bide the time. Throughout the whole time, she kept passing our table, didn't even bother to glance or check in, honestly I felt like she intentionally tried not to catch our eye. Even when we asked the person who delivered part of our meal if we could have more water, we didn't get it until we were half way done with our entrees. After we finished our entrees, she finally came back and asked about dessert, I gave her an eye roll and a tone and she finally felt apologetic. She explained there were only 3 of them for the entire restaurant. Had she bothered to explain right from the get go and checked in once in a while, I would have been more accommodating. But simply ignoring us and providing poor service was not an excuse. I couldn't even enjoy the food because the service was that bad. Still left 17% since I normally leave 20-22%. I will NOT come back, Turf Room underwhelming at best.

After looking through some options decided to try Pub 64. My kids aren't very adventurous so they fought me a bit and wanted something they already know and like. Nevertheless, I was providing the transportation, and off we went. I had the "Not Your Momma's BLT," and my kids had a couple of Craft Burgers and a pork belly flatbread. I'm generally not generous with giving 5 star reviews, but the two kids eating the burgers (which have a heavy layer of cheese, a lot of bacon, and a fried egg on top) BOTH said that this was the best burger they had ever eaten. Seriously. These are teens and they were super impressed. The wait for the food was a tad on the long side, but the atmosphere in the restaurant was nice, with just the right amount of TV's. The waitresses were all super friendly and even entertaining to a degree. This all made the wait perfectly acceptable. It's a nice place to have to wait 5 extra mins for your food. I'll just say that. My BLT had a layer of pork belly, cooked very nicely and full of flavor, and was served with a layer of some kind of spicy mayo, which was outstanding. Honestly, it might have been the best sandwich I have had in years. It was downright amazing and had just the right amount of spice, and freshness and flavor. I can't wait to have it again. The boys both raved throughout eating their burgers. My 11 yr old couldn't finish his but wanted to bring the other half home to put in his school lunch on Monday. They both very much enjoyed their fries and I had the home made potato chips, which were very good (I don't usually like homemade chips!). My 16 yr old ordered a porkbelly Asian zing flatbread thingy that he said he very much enjoyed. I tried some of it and loved it. This joint is well worth a visit. I can't imagine someone not liking this spot. Their menu is somewhat limited, but I consider that a good thing. Although it's a somewhat smaller menu, there are plenty of things for kids and plenty of different items that look pretty good. We can't wait to go back and try it again. Considering it's the best sandwich I've had in years, and my two boys both rated it the best burgers of their lives, I can't give a rating below 5 stars! Additionally, they have a very nice selection of beer on draft. Some well known, reliable brews, and some local, craftier stuff. I was impressed. Very nice.
