I wasn't crying or anything, but the cashier looked at me and could sense something wrong...and asked. I shared briefly about saying goodbye to a friend at her funeral. Cut to the chase, he gave me a bouquet of flowers and a hug... wishing me a better day, and that he knew how I felt. Yes, I was crying at that, but SO grateful at this unexpected kindness. The food ..the atmosphere...always a plus. The staff is always amazing, but this gentleman went out of his way to be kind. You can't pay for that.

I always like walking around and seeing the seasonal products and trying the samples in the store. I am grateful to this Macey's for opening on Thanksgiving Day until 2 pm early closing. It was…read morebusy, with the parking lot almost full. They have an excellent variety of good produce, and a pretty good deli department. They bake many rolls, pastries, etc. on premises. One of their best features is the Starbucks inside the store, with several tables where we drink coffee or eat breakfast or lunch. The pharmacy is also good and nearly never has a waiting line. The pharmacy prices are not quite as low as Walmart's. The food prices are 30% to 50% higher than Walmart's. The staff at this Macey's are all nice and helpful, too. The store is very clean and has plenty of checkouts, self and assisted. Its ambience is good, too. I don't take photos or videos of groceries, but I think you can probably find photos online.

Variety is still a bugaboo for this place and I hope someday they rectify that, as often they will not have various items that I go there specifically to get. There is usually a lot in clearance, which is nice, and the produce, when I have to get it, seems fairly fresh, but this is really just a fill-in spot. If I didn't live in such proximity to it, I would never go, as I still sort of intensely dislike this store. Staff, on the other hand, is great and it is because of them I hate this location less than I did previously and why they get the bump.

They beep every time you scan an item but it only recognizes it on the screen about half the time. Then a warning comes up sometimes telling you there's a problem. If you haven't noticed that this warning has come up and continue to scan it still beeps like its working fine but it doesn't show on the monitor. I ask the lazy self checkout girl and she said that's the way it is. I told her these need a software update or repair but she was interested in the least in listening to me. With the exorbitant prices here they should have excellent customer service instead of the lousy they do have. I told her that I have used self checkout machines all over the West at every store that has them and have never seen machines that work this badly. The bottom line is why should anyone spend their hard earned money on a high priced terrible customers service store. Go somewhere else that appreciates customers.

The tall, bigger guy, that was working that night, offered to stay in the parking lot with me until the other man left and I felt safe walking home again. He is a gem and I appreciate his kindness and willingness to ensure my safety. What a great asset to have him be an employee at Dave's Shop & Go.
