Dan's has been my go to market since I was a child. In fact my first job with a paycheck was bagging groceries at Dan's. They have a decent selection and they've always had a super friendly staff. No surprise but the pandemic has impacted inventory but they do their best to keep customers fully stocked or point you in the right direction to get what you need. Was great to see the self checkout installed. Convenient, safe, clean, and kind staff... what more could you ask for? read more

Now is a good time to finish my reviews that I had started, but didn't get a chance to finish. (I came here a few weeks before the "stay at home" directive took effect) This store has been here for eons and it shows. Inside the store is well worn and shows it's age. When I shopped here, just right before the virus, the isles were overflowing with food and merchandise. I wasn't a big fan of their produce. 1.It didn't look fresh and 2. There wasn't much of a variety. Actually the area that the produce is in, is quite small. The fish in the fish section of the store looked dried out, and really old, that is why I took this picture, and posted it so that you can see if it's to old or dried out for your preference. Prices are higher that other Markets, but there really isn't that many grocery stores in this area, so you pay for convenience. read more

Please do not work for this Dan's grocery store. I met with the manager and shortest interview ever. I was very professional. I could tell I did not get the job even though I was over qualified for it. I can tell management is doing a lot of things wrong. High turnover of people and high demanding job duties. I talked to people that worked there. Also see a job opening from Dan's every few weeks. From a customer's perspective it's a VERY expensive store. The parking lot is very small and there's an accident waiting to happen here. I'm glad I never go to this Dan's and you should avoid it too. Not worth it. read more

Grocery false advertisement. Pricing stickers showing deals, immediately in front of several products, were not honored. They stated that was an old ad and they just hadn't gotten around to that isle. Beware purchasing here that you might not get the listed price and might spend more than you anticipate. read more

Lots of great grocery options but the deli/food court was a little grundgy. Only a few leaves left in the salad bar, and what was there was wilted. They offer some hot food and sushi as well, but nothing looked too appealing. The parking lot is shared with about 20 other businesses, so you might be better off sending in a shopper while one continues to scout out a location to park. The employees were kind and did their job great, overall, a typical grocery store. Nothing extravagant but nothing disgusting either. TIPS & TRICKS: * If you do decide to purchase some lunch there, feel free to take a load off. They have a couple of tables and chairs to sit in which is nice. * I saw some Winder Farm Chocolate Milk in the Dairy section! Some of the best stuff indeed! read more

I stopped by here for the first time on the way home and needed to grab a few quick vegetables for dinner. It was 4pm so not quite the after-work rush yet. I was looking forward to checking out a new grocery store (weirdly fun for me), getting in and out quickly, and expected the typical Dan's experience. In the very short time I was in there, I heard three different employees complaining, in full view and earshot of the customers around them, about their jobs. One was sitting in the deli area (presumably on his break) and complaining about how much he hates the closing shift, and another was talking to him from produce (so yes, from almost across the store). The third was my checkout clerk, who didn't say hi to me and was noticeably irritated (which I can totally relate to! Been there while working!) when she flagged down the manager and asked if she could take her lunch break and he told her no, she could leave an hour early instead. This all happened right in front of me and made me very uncomfortable. So far I'm not getting an impression of this store's management caring for its employees very well. Obviously this response did not make her any happier, so she continued to ignore me - got it. Fine. No problem. I finished out the transaction but then noticed she had rung up my produce wrong, charging me extra money. When I politely asked her, "Hey, sorry, but I just noticed the avocados are the wrong price, they're on sale right there where you can see," she glared at me, failed to apologize at all, and said, "Well, you'll have to go to customer service because I already rang them up," insinuating that I was to blame for not noticing in time. The bagger said nothing either. My quick errand turned into waiting for a customer service person to come over to the empty desk (naturally my checker didn't offer to call someone over though her register was right in front of the desk), and then having to fill out paperwork to get my money back. The customer service employee was helpful and polite and helped restore a little faith in the store. They had decent looking produce and nice sales, but that was the only other nice part of my experience there. The organic produce was wilty and unimpressive. The aisles were tight. Parking is crazy because of how busy the shopping center is. And I really just couldn't shake the negative customer service vibes. It is hard to write such a review and I hope it was an isolated incident (from the reviews below, it doesn't seem to be). With all the great grocery stores out there that really care about their customers (and employees!), it seems it would be wise to shop somewhere else. read more

Not the best grocery store in the area but they do have some unique items that bump them up to 3 stars instead of 2. The good - They offer some unique items I have not seen in other local grocery stores including baklava and marzipan cake in the bakery. I also saw pre-made sugar cookies that you can take and frost at home - a good option for the busy parent. Surprising to me is that they also had a salad bar and a hot appetizer bar. They also stock all of your other typical grocery items with a few others I had not seen elsewhere. The bad- The aisles are really narrow and the overall store seems cramped and a bit dark. The flower/plant selection is minimal. There is no self check out and when I visited there were only a couple of registers open with several people in line - it took way longer to check out than I was expecting. read more

A fine supermarket located in the Foothills of SLC. All you need and expect when grocery shopping. Terrific variety of products, with many local brands. Prices vary from high end to average. Would be a top go to place if I lived here. There are several other Dan's locations in SLC. read more

I know a grocery store doesn't come to mind when you think of balloons, but I took a chance on them and they really knocked it out of the park. I was planning a surprise party and needed lettered helium balloons for a arch. Dans was MUCH closer than Zurchers to my location so I was really happy to find they actually carried them. The staff was SO helpful, they custom ordered the balloons and all the balloons were blown up and ready the day of. The employees also helped us puncture holes for the arch and helped us set part of it up. SUPER helpful and really surprising. They didn't have to do so much, but they really helped us out on a busy day. read more

Dans is our go-to grocery store and I'm there 1-3 times a week. The employees are really nice, they almost always have everything I need. The store is dated but I don't care that much. I could go to Smiths on 8th and 9th but that store is filthy and laid out so oddly that I can't ever find what I want. Dans on Foothill is a very good neighborhood grocery store. read more

I've been coming to this Dan's for years, but my visit yesterday inspired this particular review. Yes, it's a grocery store. Yes, there are other Dan's locations, but this one in particular is well-kept, clean and easy to shop. I compare it to an Albertson's without all the filler. It's easy to get in and out without filling up your cart with unnecessary "stuff". You get what you came for. The hand sanitizer has a fantastic scent, and there is a giant bottle at each cash register. The store is neatly organized. You can tell that the Store Manager works hard to keep this store in tip top shape. Above and beyond that, each cashier is smiling, and offers a friendly helping hand. Definitely old and outdated but it's the closest grocery store to my house so I only come here if I need something last minute. Strangely the prices are kind of high too which I don't like and therefore don't do my full shipping here. read more

Dan's Foods on Foothill Drive is clean, well organized, and well stocked. The freezer section is a little cold, but on a warm Summer day it might feel quite pleasant. Prices were good and the staff was friendly and proficient. If I lived nearby I'd shop at this location more. Dan's is a good grocery store. read more

Typically, I don't see the use in reviewing grocery stores, because when it comes to chains they're usually all interchangeable. However, my experiences with this specific location have been less than ideal. First of all, echoing on the sentiments of another reviewer, I'm very disappointed with the produce here. Today, I was looking for cilantro, and disappointed to find that nearly every bunch was gooey and appeared past expiration. The organic red bell peppers were not in much better shape. Not a single one lacked bruising. Unfortunately, I find this to be a reoccurring experience with produce here. As someone who buys quite a bit of produce, this lack of freshness just won't fly. My other gripe with this store is the checkout. More often than not it's very, very slow process. Now I don't expect lighting speeds by any means, but when you only have 2 lanes open during a rush, it's problematic. And it seems that when they have the least amount of traffic, they have the most lanes open. You'd think that a grocery store would have noticed these patterns and figured out what times have the most/least traffic, but apparently not. The checkers are always kind, but the consistently slow pacing just isn't cutting it. It's disappointing seeing as I live RIGHT behind here, and the selection is actually pretty decent. But the produce is the kiss of death and has led me to take my bulk shopping elsewhere. read more

This is just like a smiths grocery store, but without the discounts. It's convenient and clean but overpriced.

I appreciate that this is virtually the only grocery store in the foothill area, or at least the most accessible if you are up by research park at the U. I am not crazy about their parking lot, but I do like the fact that I can usually find a spot even if it is a tight squeeze. I like that they have an America First Credit Union in the store as well. No major complaints about the grocery store itself. read more

I used to like this store. It is close to my house but I will not be shopping there any more. The produce it often soggy and rotten. I went today and there was rotten rhubarb on the shelf, so bad I could see and smell it. Along with bags of carrots past their sell by date. Yuck. I purchased some juice and noticed when I got home that the sell by date was 3 months past. I went back to the store to return it. After returning it I went to grab one more thing and another bottle of juice and I watched them put the jar I had returned right back on the shelf. Sell by date 3 months past? Joke. It really has gone down hill the past few months. And now they have a card program. read more

This is an ok grocery store, prices are a bit inflated for your run of the mill P&G type brands, but they do carry specialty items as well as local stuff. I shop here weekly out of convenience but would not do the bulk of my shopping here. read more

We go to Dans regularly. It is a great store on many respects. However, the beef selection is sub-par. Harmons at Emigration has a way better meat and fish department. For that matter, Smiths at 9th and 9th is even better yet. Don't get me wrong, we love Dans...and go there regularly. Get a better meat department. One last comment. I asked the guy behind the meat counter if the had a porter house steak. He asked me if that was a brand of steak. Enough said read more

The teenagers who work here are easily the laziest workers, and items are over priced. They charged me 20 dollars for a container of Asian food from their deli by entering in the code for fresh fruit items. When I mentioned that it was a lot of money for mostly rice and chicken the cashier just says well that's how much it costs without looking up any codes. Not wanting to hold up the line or make a scene I just paid for it and left but I won't be going back again. You're better off going to Harmon's down the street. read more

This one of the Associated Foods stores, so generally you can expect a fairly clean, well-stocked store, which is what this was. Selection seemed ok, but a couple notes. First are the aisles. Instead of being broken into smaller aisles, so as to be more manageable, we have very long, gigantic, store-spanning lengths, which makes navigation a pain. Rather than having 4 entry points, like many of the stores have chosen to do, this one has 2 and if you're after 1 thing in the middle of a given aisle, you're going to traverse the entire thing before going on to another. This also creates a substantial inconvenience in trying to see what is actually in the aisles. The other is that their drink cooler doesn't have the slots at the end that hold in the drinks, which is kind of nice, but the drinks are also not very cold, which is mostly not. If you happen to be there or in the area anyway, this place will do in a pinch, but it's not really in such good shape as a go-to store. read more
