This is one of my favorite all time places to go in the winter. Its warm, Cozy and inviting. The service at the bar is impeccable. Staff is always helpful and friendly. Came here while on a trip to Portland! Saw mixed ratings on Yelp but decided to stop in anyway. So glad we did! We had a lovely time with the sweetest server. Food was so good, I took it back to our hotel to save for a midnight snack. Between two, we each enjoyed a cocktail, shared the house foccacia (so pillowy and soo good), and ordered the bolognese and the spaghetti with meatball. We can confidently say, we had more than enough food. The bolognese was so meaty and hearty but I'd have to say the spaghetti was my favorite. Everything we ordered here was delicious, their garlic bread is probably one of the best I've ever had! All the pasta dishes and the calamari were also very good, the pasta was perfectly al dente. The bartender and server were both very friendly and attentive even though they were pretty busy. This was not one of my favorite places I visited while in Maine. We had a 6:45pm reservation and they sat us right on time or a little after even though I saw a table that looked ready that we could have sat at. The acoustics in here were not great. It was hard to hear my friend. This is an open kitchen format so the smoke from kitchen comes out into the dinning room area and all the food smells. There is a back kitchen area where its actually cool to watch them make fresh pasta. I had the whipped ricotta as an appetizer and the BAKED CRESPELLE which is Braised short rib, ricotta, pecorino, in a crepe, tomato braising jus for dinner. My friend had the BRUSCHETTA and the Penne arrabiata which was with Garlic, chili flakes, roasted tomatoes, evoo, pecorino I think. For drinks I had a gimlet that was not that good and my friend had a blueberry mocktail drink and he didn't like his drink either. Sat at the bar for a small bite to eat and a couple drinks. Be weary when ordering their hot martini. It's powerful and loaded with a punch. The wilted spinach was the best I've ever had. It paired perfectly with the martini. For dessert we got the chocolate torte and a lemoncello. The lemonchello was deadly, I don't think I will order one from there in the future. Nice place, but... I really did like this place, but there were some quirky things that were wrong. The food was really good - I had the chicken Parmesan, which was huge and quite tasty - baby girl had the truffle mac and cheese, which was awesome - we had the Garlicl bread which was a large portion and very good. The service was Ok... the bartender was awesome - hostess and waitress not so much. The restaurant has a neat vibe, but the curtain used to block the cold when people entered and exited the restaurant really didn't work. The restaurant was either really hot or really cold. We went the other night and had a super fun experience. After going to Italy my husband decided Amatriciana is his favorite food and there are not very many places in the area to get it. We thought the one here was tasty, but I got the short rib special and that was just about LIFE CHANGING. The service was nice and attentive. My husband and I have always wanted to try this place out. We visited last weekend and sat at the bar. The bar tender, Ariel, was so kind! We had a few cocktails and they were very good. The ambience is really nice and romantic. We ordered some food for takeout. We ordered a pepperoni Pizza with hamburger meat and garlic as well as the truffle mac n cheese. In all honesty, we had planned to go to a nearby spot, but the yelp hours were wrong and it was closed. So we ended up walking into here. The restaurant's location is great, with plenty of nearby park, both lots and parking meters. The ambiance is wonderful, with music just loud enough for background, and quiet enough to allow for normal level conversation. The food was absolutely amazing. I ordered the orichette with sausage, and my partner ordered fettucine bolognese and they were beautifully presented and amazingly delicious. Lastly, I'd like to mention the service. We were sat immediately upon arrival. Our waiter Sean was quick to introduce himself and inform us of all the specials. He checked on us at comfortable intervals, to ensure everything was to our liking, and it all was. Sean was a wonderfully polite and attentive waiter, he gets 5 stars as well! Amazing food, never misses in my opinion. Corner Room was closed for several months due to COVID but is finally reopened and we couldn't be happier. The mussels appetizer is delicious, the garlic bread, bruschetta, and caprese salad are all very fine starters. I also have enjoyed the pappardelle and mushrooms with cream sauce not once but twice (but be forewarned, it's RICH so get the small portion size). A couple minor issues: the dining space can feel a little cramped, and the menu is apparently not identical to the one that appears on the website. read more

The food was amazing! Service was even better. The arancini balls were delicious and offered a nice morsel of cheese inside them which was a welcome surprise. The zucchini pesto side dish was incredibly good and not something I've ever seen on a restaurant menu before, yet simple and delicious. The entree I chose was the chicken parmigiana which was standard, yet well made. Wine and beer choices were abundant. The restaurant could use better ventilation, as we left there smelling like strong food from a stuffy smokey atmosphere. The seating situation is ridiculous. It's like management had a competition to see how many tables and chairs they could stuff into the dining room. Also, the tables were arranged the same way, so the people at the table next to you were like they were sitting at your table with a 12-inch gap in between. So yeah, I learned all about my neighboring tables insurance business and their IT issues with their mid-west operation. ugh. Lastly, the website for The Corner Room has some hiccups with the Open Table reservation system. I made the reservation through the website, but they gave me the reservation at their sister restaurant down the block, The Grill Room. I sent them an email about it, but they never responded. I finally canceled the reservation and made it through the Open Table app directly without any issues. read more

The place was EMPTY- not one table was taken. I guess they'd rather leave the place empty than to accommodate customers. Fellow Elite, I have let you down not posting this sooner... I started coming here before the pandemic and I have honestly no clue and no excuse for not posting a review back then. They only just recently re-opened and with a November birthday, I was right there to enjoy it. As an ASD person, my needs for consistency and routine are very rigid with foods I adore. So when I say that this is what I remember, I am being very very specific and am so very thrilled about that. The pesto dish was creamy but not drowning. Al dente but soft enough to feel okay having several noodles at once. House made pasta matters to those of us who have had it from nonna's kitchen (IYKYK) and this doesn't disappoint. The garlic bread was creamy and soft where it should be and cooked so the taste was garlic, but just sweet enough. The caprese salad was delightful with a tart/sweet balsamic and mozzarella that is just soft enough to pair with very firm and fresh heirloom tomatoes. For allergy reasons, my pasta was modified from the menu, but I assume the unmodified dish is equally good. My wife has had several other things each visit since she is an adventure eater/taste the menu type of person. This visit she was busy making very "significant sounds" to her bowl of muscles before her own pasta arrived. Latterly she realized the seafood would have been enough to make a meal. If consistency of quality matters and you feel an elite's view (or trust the sense memory of an Autistic) then I can tell you a visit to this place, once you find what you like, will never let you down. They also have daily or seasonal items which I haven't yet tried, but often look very tasty, even to me. read more

We finally made a return trip to Portland and high on our list was a lunch or dinner at The Corner Room. Last time, about two years ago we stumbled upon The Corner Room in between their luck and dinner hours, so we vowed to return next time we were in town. On both occasions we attended the Portland Start to Summer and Sunday Festival. Sadly, we heard this was the last Festival (riiiight - someone will step up by next year). So Sunday Brunch was our best option. A shady table two outside on the walk was immediately available. Joshua our server quickly stopped by with waters and took our drink order, a local German Pilsner for me. This being an Italian Kitchen & Bar, the house made pasta was a "must have" along with fresh slices of bread, olive oil, salt, & pepper. My wife requested the Pappardelle (wide noodles), Exotic Mushrooms and a Cream Sauce. Her lesser half and Master Food-O-Lini order the "Carbonara" featuring Pancetta, Pecorino, Parmesan, Creamy Sauce, and a Sunny Side Up Egg. Oh Mama! Both were so delicious. We came here 2 weeks ago for the first time. We will definitely be coming back. Reservations for 8pm and the restaurant was packed. A little hard to hear over the din. Our waitress was very friendly and went over specials. We asked a couple questions and she was very knowledgeable and obliging. I ordered the mussels and would definitely recommend! I also got the large Pappardelle and Mushrooms. I could only take a couple bites because I was so stuffed from the mussels. I took it home and ate it for dinner the next day. It was fantastic! My husband ordered the BAKED CRESPELLE for his app and CHICKEN PARMIGANo for entrees. Both were prepared wonderfully. We really enjoyed the meals and wanted dessert but were too full. Bartender was sweet and was keeping up with a completely full restaurant and still had time to ask us if the drinks and food were good, etc. I took off one star because they need some serious ventilation work... the cook space is in the same room as the dining area, and it was awful. I loved the fact that we could see them cooking, but it was so smokey/foggy my eyes started burning and I had to keep my eyes closed for a long while because they were so irritated.
