My wife and I just had dinner here on Saturday Night 8/8/26 and we order the Lobster Diavolo. We have to say that it was not as good as what we recalled. The dish used to have calamari, fresh tomatoes, and the sauce had more flavor and broth and not overloaded with garlic paste. Additionally there used to be more pasta than the current dish too. One would think that the pasta is relatively inexpensive compared to the seafood so adding some more pasta shouldn't cut into the profit margin too much. We have eaten at Street & Co for over 28 years and over time the quality of the Lobster Diavolo dish has decreased. Hopefully the current Chef's can bring the Lobstet Diavolo dish back to the way it used to be, one of Street & Co's signature dishes! read more

Went here with my wife while visiting Portland. The restaurant has excellent reviews on all of the typical review sites. We both ordered their scallop dish and had shared a chili tuna appy. My wife had a house Pinot Grigio and I just had water. The appy was salty, but we assumed that was a one off. I needed to pester the waiter as the scallops were taking quite a while to be served. Disappointed when they came because there was one large scallop in each dish and 4 much smaller ones with a small scoop of farro and a side of hard green beans. Hey this is Maine and we figured they could do better than this. We get larger scallops for a fraction of the price back home. Unfortunately, the scallops were more salty than the tuna. I let the server know and he offered to adjust it. I didn't know how he was going to do that and didn't wanna wait again for more scallops. The bill came to $160 which included a 20% tip. me and my husband went to street & co on our vacation, we walked in around 6pm on a wednesday without a reservation and were seated right away. we ordered the pasta special which was a cavatelli pasta with scallops and fennel sausage, the mussels, and the lobster with linguini as our main. the cavatelli starter was delicious!! the pasta was so fresh and the scallops and sausage were cooked perfectly, my husband wished it came in an entree size! also as a starter we got the mussels, for $22 it came with SO MANY i was impressed and they were huge! very yummy but wished there was more of a spice to the sauce personally. there was a decent gap of time between the stater and main but we didn't mind since we wanted our food to go down. the lobster came halved over lemon garlic pasta it was delish! the claws and pasta were my favorite part. the interior reminded me of the beauty and the beast tavern lol it was very rustic all wood with low ceilings and the kitchen was on the other half of the room. it was pretty loud but we didn't mind. the service was top notch our server came around often and so did a busser taking away plates refilling glasses. it was a super pleasant expirience and the plates were delish! read more

This place is an experience within itself. We were actually going to try walking into 2 other close restaurants but met a local couple at the bar and man am I glad they recommended Street & Co. We are so lucky to walk up at 8 pm and get a table. Not any table, but next to the kitchen. It was so awesome to sit there and watch their masterpieces come to life. The amount of pans and flames on the fire was pretty cool. We waited a bit for our waiter, but once he arrived he was attentive and did well. Bread service was delicious. Butter cokes our very cold, we used the candle to warm it. They wait staff got a chuckle out of that and said rush cooks give us melted butter. Ha ha We ordered the grilled octopus as an appetizer. Deliciously prepared and cooked. Mmmm. I ordered the special--Tuna Ragu My husband sword fish Swordfish was a little over cooked but the flavor was very good. Fish. Delicious. Now let's talk about the tuna Ragu. It was the most delicious strange thing I've had yet on this trip. My Brain was like... why is there fish in this pasta and my tastebuds are like who the heck cares this amazing. The homemade pasta was delicate and fluffy yet cooked al dente and soaked up all the sauce/gravy. The tuna had a slight fish taste, but it was fresh- perfect and not over whelming. Finally checked off Street & Co for the first time. Now I do realize you will notice the two stars and I am certainly in the minority considering they have a high average above 4 stars. It's likely we just showed up during an off day/time but left more disappointed than excited. Booked a reservation for my wife and I to celebrate our anniversary of when we started dating and they did include a card thanking us for choosing to celebrate it with them. Was a nice little touch. Inside has a rustic feeling vibe and the low ceilings does make it quite loud. Our server eventually greeted us and took our drink orders. I had a spicy tequila cocktail called Kissies and Poppies while my wife had a gin based cocktail called Secret Garden. Both were decent but nothing special enough to rush back for. Appetizer wise the only one on their menu during our visit was freshly sliced prosciutto which was tasty but did not stand out anymore than your typical grocery store prosciutto. For the main event and the purpose of checking them out my wife got the Shrimp Linguine in Butter and Garlic. I gave their Grilled Lobster Linguine in Butter and Garlic a try. Both dishes had great flavor and they did not skimp on garlic! Lobster does come in shell and our server did warn us. Despite the good taste the slow service really left a sour taste in our mouths. Our reservation was for 9:30 PM (showed up a bit early) and didn't receive food til almost 10:30 or after and we ordered relatively quick. Our server did come over once during our wait saying it would be soon. Though once we got our food the server didn't check on us again til we finished. Maybe it was due to being part of the last meals being served. Not a great excuse but who knows, extremely lackluster service for a higher end spot that should make you feel welcome! I'd like to give Street and Co a 4.5 as I'm not sure it deserves a full 5 but it was very very good. One of the best meals we had in Portland. We liked it more than Scales which I think might be a less popular opinion. The ambiance was very rustic and cozy. It did feel a little cramped and the first table they sat us at was in the middle of a bunch of other tables and I really don't think it would be a nice table for anyone. Thankfully they moved us to a corner/booth which was very nice of them. Even in the corner it was still a little cramped which is my reason for not giving it 5 stars. The pasta dish with lobster in a red sauce was divine. Full of other seafood in addition to the lobster like mussels and clams too. It was definitely messy but the flavor was fantastic. Tons of garlic which we love. The octopus appetizer was also delicious. Very charred which normally I wouldn't like but it worked very well with this dish. We also got hummus which was a special appetizer. It was ok- not very memorable. The desserts didn't appeal to us (maybe we were just too full). Came here with my girlfriend who ordered the lobster linguine. It was the most delicious thing either of us had eaten! The butter and garlic flavoring was unbelievable! I recently had a most wonderful dinner at Street and Co with wonderful company! Our servers were all excellent, and the food came in exactly the right amount of time. We started with burrata, a bluefish pate, and mussels for apps, and then moved right into: Bluefish tuna Lobster Fra Diavlo for two, and Roasted Branzino (which was FANTASTIC) After that, we still pursued dessert and ordered a pecan pie with in-house made ice cream and one of the most delicious rice puddings I have ever had. What an amazing dinner! Everything was perfect from start to finish. The space is beautiful. It's down a cobblestone alleyway, and the interior is cozy and rustic. It feels like a secret, but I know it's not a well kept one! Our server Nico (apologies if I've misspelled that!) was wonderful. He was friendly and helpful when we made our dinner choices. The other servers were also always on top of keeping our table clear and our water filled. The food was absolute perfection. We started with a salad and grilled octopus. The salad was bright and acidic which paired perfectly with the best octopus dish I've had. It was so tender and delicious, I've never had octopus that was that tender. The grilled flavor came through immediately, but never overwhelmed the delicate flavor of the octopus. For mains I had sole francaise and my husband had bone in monkfish. The sole was melt in your mouth good. It was lightly breaded and cooked in a pan with brown butter. It was so toasty and nutty and coated the green beans and simple, but perfect, red potatoes it was served with. My husband's monkfish was fresh and perfectly toothsome, served with fluffy Roman gnocchi and romesco sauce. My only regret is not having enough room for dessert because I'm sure it's incredible as well! I can't wait to return the next time we're in Portland. Just to note: this is one of the least accessibility-friendly areas of the city. The old cobblestone road that it's located on is foot traffic only. The closest approach is if you're dropped off at the end of and it you would still have a short distance to travel. There is a brick footpath on the sides of the cobblestone road that is slightly smoother, but still not ideal. Earlier in the day I was able to navigate the street okay on foot so it will depend on your capabilities. That being said, I took my motorized travel chair down there in the evening and Street and co were happy to let me fold it up and store it near the door. read more

We mixed up our reservations and was late getting there but they were nice enough to seat us after being 30 min late. Our server didn't introduce himself at first and was very shy and quiet. He finally opened up and was a sweet guy. We ordered the muscles which were horrible. They were mushy and the texture was so bad I couldn't eat them. My partner had the smoke salmon pate and thought it was a 3/5. He said it was decent but wouldn't order again. The Baby Gem salad was also lacking flavor. The restaurant is cozy and located near the docks in the historic waterfront where cobblestone streets and narrow alleys are found. We shared a doz oysters that were expertly plated and tasty. Visited Portland this weekend, and we were very excited to try this restaurant for the first night of our trip. We were able to walk in very late in the evening without a reservation (around 9pm). The ambiance of the restaurant was beautiful and rustic with an open kitchen. Our waitress was very attentive and friendly, and she was able to help me pick out gluten-free menu items and ones that could be accommodated to be gluten-free upon request. We chose to try the Sole Francais (not gluten-free) and the swordfish. The tomato sauce on the swordfish was the star of the show; it was so good I could have eaten it as soup with a spoon. However, I did not like the currants in the dish, but that is a personal preference. The fish in both dishes was cooked perfectly, and all the accompaniments were delicious too. After seeing so many rave reviews of Street and Co., I was convinced and excited to make a reservation for my husband and I on our weekend trip to Portland. Unfortunately, we left pretty disappointed in the service, which overall clouded the meal for us. After putting in our order we didn't really encounter her the rest of the evening, not even to check in on how we were doing. We sat with empty drinks through all of our appetizers. We actually saw more of one of the bussers who cleared our plates and checked on us a few times-- she was incredibly nice and attentive. The food itself was decent, the heirloom tomato appetizer was incredibly juicy and fresh, definitely a standout for us. My husband had the tuna with charred leeks, he noted it was a little on the salty side. I had the fisherman's stew, which I enjoyed, though the sauce was a little underwhelming. We were ignored on the way out (even as I said good night). We are pretty laid back and don't tend to need much attention while out, but the service was off putting enough that unfortunately we would not return or recommend to others. Our waiter was friendly and as busy as they were, checked back during the meal. We started with with a thinly sliced zucchini salad. It had dressing but not a lot of flavor. We had the oysters, mussels, and La Rosa Salad. All were delicious and thoughtfully prepared. Unfortunately, that's where the positives ended. Our server just didn't seem interested. From the start, it felt like we were bothering her by being there. Our entrées took a while to arrive, not a big deal on its own, but she never checked in or acknowledged the delay. Once we passed on a second round of cocktails, it felt like she mentally checked out. When the mains finally came, she never came back to ask how anything was or if we needed anything. Let me start with this and not to sound bougie... Coming from such a booty town Las Vegas, our expectations might be a little higher than the average person. That said... After watching the Symphony Orchestra play a wonderful Christmas show we jumped in our Uber and headed to the restaurant of which the driver said this is the top two of three restaurants in Portland Maine. We come in with very little expectations but started in the lobby with a martini and four oysters that tasted so amazing we were getting ready to order four more when our table became ready. And as the one who travels the world and has had muscles everywhere I can tell you these were some of the best I've ever had. The garlic sauce was stunning and it was almost like the kitchen staff put garlic in every single individual muscle. We then went to the sole based on Soren's recommendation. I have had an amazing soul that some wonderful French restaurants not only in France but also five star restaurants in Las Vegas and this was some of the best sole I've ever had We finished with the sticky toffe dessert which was also Soren's recommendation and of course she absolutely nailed it. Every entrée Soren recommended was 100% and Charlie backed up Soren's recommendations. Again as a world traveler I have that food in so many amazing places and this was one of the best meals I've ever had right in Portland Maine. What an amazing location in an alleyway in downtown Portland. As a newer summer resident... We will definitely be back again and again. We decided to come up and enjoy the Christmas holiday which is why we were here in the colder weather and absolutely loved it. So many friendly people around the restaurant that I get to understand why people love living in Portland Maine. Happiness abounds here and I can see why... People are friendly, the food is amazing, the location is amazing... And while it may be chilly outside it doesn't matter... The people make it such a great place to be. We were initially off to a great start. The hostess was incredibly accommodating and welcoming, which gave us a very positive first impression. Unfortunately, the rest of the experience did not live up to that beginning. After being seated, we sat at our table for about 15 minutes before our server acknowledged us. From there, service continued to be extremely slow. There were long waits for drinks, appetizers, and our main courses, which made the entire meal feel unnecessarily drawn out. We completely understand that restaurants can get busy, but the amount of time we waited at every stage of the meal was disappointing. Unfortunately, the food was also underwhelming. The octopus appetizer was surprisingly tasteless and lacked the flavor we were expecting. The linguine with clams was the biggest disappointment of the evening. It was so overwhelmingly salty that it actually burned the roofs of our mouths, making it very difficult to eat, let alone enjoy. We really wanted to have a positive experience, especially after such a welcoming start, but between the lack of attentiveness, excessive wait times, and disappointing food, we left feeling frustrated.
