    Scallops in Pernod

My understanding is this is a sister restaurant to scales and fore street. Street & co does not have the water views like scales but is tucked in this cute cobblestone street and you feel like you are walking into an original historic Portland building. I did a similar meal at street & co as I did scales - oysters and scallops. I enjoyed the scallops slightly better at scales but this was still a win. And the octopus! Don't be afraid of that order, it was outstanding. We also sampled desserts and I was blown away. I wish I could go back more often, another phenomenal meal in Portland.

We mixed up our reservations and was late getting there but they were nice enough to seat us after being 30 min late. Our server didn't introduce himself at first and was very shy and quiet. He finally opened up and was a sweet guy. We ordered the muscles which were horrible. They were mushy and the texture was so bad I couldn't eat them. My partner had the smoke salmon pate and thought it was a 3/5. He said it was decent but wouldn't order again. The Baby Gem salad was also lacking flavor. The lobster linguine was decent and at $54 not a bad price point but still didn't blow my mind. The only thing that was good was the panna cotta desert. Overall this place was a huge miss!

What an amazing dinner! Everything was perfect from start to finish. The space is beautiful. It's down a cobblestone alleyway, and the interior is cozy and rustic. It feels like a secret, but I know it's not a well kept one! Our server Nico (apologies if I've misspelled that!) was wonderful. He was friendly and helpful when we made our dinner choices. The other servers were also always on top of keeping our table clear and our water filled. The food was absolute perfection. We started with a salad and grilled octopus. The salad was bright and acidic which paired perfectly with the best octopus dish I've had. It was so tender and delicious, I've never had octopus that was that tender. The grilled flavor came through immediately, but never overwhelmed the delicate flavor of the octopus. For mains I had sole francaise and my husband had bone in monkfish. The sole was melt in your mouth good. It was lightly breaded and cooked in a pan with brown butter. It was so toasty and nutty and coated the green beans and simple, but perfect, red potatoes it was served with. My husband's monkfish was fresh and perfectly toothsome, served with fluffy Roman gnocchi and romesco sauce. My only regret is not having enough room for dessert because I'm sure it's incredible as well! I can't wait to return the next time we're in Portland. Just to note: this is one of the least accessibility-friendly areas of the city. The old cobblestone road that it's located on is foot traffic only. The closest approach is if you're dropped off at the end of and it you would still have a short distance to travel. There is a brick footpath on the sides of the cobblestone road that is slightly smoother, but still not ideal. Earlier in the day I was able to navigate the street okay on foot so it will depend on your capabilities. That being said, I took my motorized travel chair down there in the evening and Street and co were happy to let me fold it up and store it near the door.

Really love this place. They have seats near the bar area for you to sit and wait for your table, and you can order appetizers and drinks. The branzino was easily the best I've ever had. Also love the mussels and oysters. Highly recommend!

This was a return visit to Street & Co., but it ended up being a solo one. My partner wasn't feeling well that night. Knowing how much I'd been looking forward to coming back, she insisted I go without her. I sat at the bar and started with my usual dry Manhattan and half a dozen oysters -- a great way to settle in. The oysters were fresh, cold, and clean, exactly what you want to start a meal like this. For my main course, I ordered the scallops with farro and green beans. The scallops were beautifully cooked, and the dish was pulled together with a subtle but very flavorful sauce -- nothing heavy or overpowering, just enough to complement the sweetness of the scallops and the nutty farro. It was balanced, thoughtful cooking that let the ingredients shine. Before leaving, I put in a take-out order of the soup of the day for my partner -- a bean-based soup in a tomato-forward broth with sausage. I don't recall the exact menu description, but it was hearty, comforting, and exactly what she needed. She really appreciated both the gesture and the soup itself, which felt like an extension of the care we've come to expect from this place. Even dining alone, Street & Co. reminded me why it's such a favorite: consistently good food, a welcoming bar, and a sense that the staff genuinely care about the experience. I'll be back again -- ideally next time with my partner at my side.

I came on a the Friday night after Thanksgiving with my BF for oysters and a cocktail before meeting up with friends at another restaurant. The restaurant is cozy and located near the docks in the historic waterfront where cobblestone streets and narrow alleys are found. We shared a doz oysters that were expertly plated and tasty. Next we had the grilled octopus with fingerling potatoes, parsley green sauce and chickpea crisp. Our appetizers were so good we asked for a dinner menu. They were happy to accommodate and moved us to a table for dinner as they don't serve entrees in the lounge area. We split a nice bottle of wine and had the Whole Grilled Dorade over Puttanesca with Fresh Herbs. Our server gladly deboned it for us making it easy to eat. Service, food and ambiance were all very enjoyable. I definitely recommend you try it!

Great food, huge portions, cool interior. Service was fine, nothing special, but the food was absolutely divine. My fiancé always has a huge appetite and couldn't even finish his shrimp with tomatoes and capers...we easily could have shared it but we both ended up ordering it as an entree. Our salads were fantastic and the bread tasted sooooo good. The location is fun too--it's located in a smaller alley filled with bars and restaurants and definitely a fun place to check out at night! Really glad we booked this as our last meal in Portland!!

Great meal and and even better service. I can see why this place gets 4.3 stars on Yelp. The food was amazing reasonably priced and service was outstanding. Bar stools only on a Monday night says it all.

This is a great place for a nice dinner. Really cute, good service, and delicious food. The complimentary bread and butter were great. I ordered the linguine with shrimp, tomato and capers. The portion was insanely huge, the shrimp cooked perfectly. Husband got the night's special, a Bolognese with tuna. You honestly could not taste the tuna but the sauce itself was great. Highly recommend for a nice dinner.

Delightful dinner with friends tonight. All exclaimed throughout the night on flavors brought out. The bread is delicious, the oysters fresh, the Leek soup heartily good. The friend that had the lobster loved the flavor and my seared scallops were perfectly cooked. Overall a great experience!

Street and Co was one of the best dinners I've had! We had a 5:15 bar reservation and it was so much fun watching them make drinks and shuck oysters. There's plenty of table space for those worried about bar seating. The service was top! Our mains came out a little slow but they comped us a free dessert for having to wait so long. Food wise everything we had was amazing. I cannot say I ate anything that wasn't fresh and delicious. We had mussels, a special tomato salad, lobster with spaghetti, cod, and a special pear tart. Would highly suggest getting your reservation when they open two weeks in advance or else who knows how long you have to wait for a walk in.

    For 2 Lobster Diavolo

Updating my review for Street and Company, I came back for a birthday dinner, and this time was worth it. We had a great time. No appetizers this time around, just dinner. We shared the Seafood Diavolo; this is the best dish ever, with a good amount of shellfish and the sauce was perfection, smoky, spicy, and a perfect amount of heat that makes you want to eat more. A truly phenomenal dish. We also tried the scallops in Pernod. It was incredible; the scallops were huge, sweet, and delicate. We had a few drinks; I was surprised that the Ketel One vodka with club and a splash of cranberry was just $10. Specialty cocktails were between $15-$17, definitely not cheap. And we finished off with espresso and panacotta; it was such a delight, and the dessert was so addicting! Service was good, busy, loud, and a fun atmosphere. Make sure to get reservation days in advance and maybe months in the summer.

Walked in on a Wednesday night with no wait. Cozy and casual atmosphere. Service and food were both excellent, highly recommend the octopus which was so tender! We got the cod and tuna entrees both of which were great but the octopus was definitely the highlight.

Hi Sonia! You can fly into Portland Jetport. If you want to stay in Old Port which houses a lot of the restaurants and boutique then there is a Holiday Inn and Recency. Hope you have fun when you come. Maine is a beautiful state.

It came with these deep-fried "chips" (I'm sure they are something else) and a side of delicious hummus. I paid about $10 for the whole thing, including a soda. You just can't beat that.
