In June, 2025 - our homeowner's insurance company sent a letter stating we were to be inspected. No notice from Cornerstone was provided, no advanced contact made, nor has there been any contact since the "anonymous" on-site inspection occurred. The report was delivered to us and Nationwide has forced us to take some actions - some legit, a few were at best dubious. Those that were dubious were also documented in at best, an ambiguous way - not specific. As well, Nationwide has "moved the goal posts" on us multiple times. The Cornerstone inspector claimed railings were required when the "porch" or "deck" were 24" off the ground. Nationwide insisted we put up railings - "Code" requires railings at 30". The inspector did NOT measure those locations - nor provide any detail. I would certainly choose Cornerstone to do my pre-sale inspection where likely I could pay the guy to say anything I wanted. read more

I had a home inspection with Sid. He was very thorough. He took plenty of time to explain everything to me and answer all my questions. He delivered the report earlier than expected. Thanks to him and his suspicions, I had a plumbing scope of the sewer line done before my due diligence period ended. What the PRESIDENT of this company Chuck fails to tell you is that I didn't move into the home until Saturday January 9th so in essence we were only in the home for just over a week when we made the discovery. What he also fails to tell you is that the discovery was made by opening up ANY of the upstairs plantation blinds which his well respected inspector failed to do (Seems like 101 stuff but who am I to judge).. In their fine print they make it clear that they are not required to determine environmental hazards which I guess CLEAR AS DAY MOLD is omitted from.. Do yourself a favor and get an inspector that will go the extra mile to look for these things as it will cost you a ton less to have brought to your attention now than down the road after you have already drained your life savings into a home and are now left to correct the issue. I gave cornerstone a chance to redeem their self and do the right thing by contacting them directly. They did nothing to correct the issue and deflected all blame off onto me. I just want every buyer to be aware of these guys. I am also looking to be put on the board of my large community development. Once I am on board I will make all of them aware of my situation as well and look to have this Inspection group black listed from the community as I don't want to see anyone else get burned like I did. My wife and I were very pleased with the professionalism at the Cornerstone Inspection Group. The inspection was very detailed and the inspector (Jeff) went through everything with us. He also gave us a few suggestions along the way that went above the general inspection. At their recommendation, I had a few other specific companies come check out the house (roofing companies and a plumbing company) to get into the weeds a bit more. I've use Cornerstone twice now and have been extremely pleased with their price, reports and turnaround time. Levi did the inspection a couple of years ago on a house we ended up not purchasing but his report was very useful in our negotiations. Ray prepared the report for the house we just purchased and again the information was critical in adjusting the contract price based on what he identified, particularly the possible presence of mold in the basement. That would be the only thing I'd like to see them add to their services, mold assessments. We would certainly recommend them to anyone looking to purchase a home. read more

Do not use Cornerstone under any circumstance. They did an inspection on my home when I bought and when I sold(two years later) and received two completely separate reports. They even went so far to claim that my child safety locks on cabinets need to be repaired because there are no handles. Unreal. These guys have no consistent methodology and approach as to what is inspected and what is not inspected. Again, same house and completely different approach. Example-Stairs in my house were not examined the first time, second they were claimed to be hazards and needed repair. Nothing had changed. DO NOT USE CORNERSTONE!! I'm engaging legal counsel to take further action against them. I have also heard they have been sued multiple times recently for going over the top on their reports. read more

I have had home inspectors who were fair, ones who critiqued and nit picked everything but Mr. Stoner of cornerstone inspection group fabricated issues and for the first time decided to write a review to protect others. Mr. Stoner spent the entire day at my property. I watched him on camera as he took apart the electrical panel, rearranged breakers and removed the grommets then took photos stating that the panel was not correctly done. He further stated that electrical system was installed without a permit because a sticker was not present on the panel He poured a cup of water under the shower pan to fabricate a leak. He took photos of the Plumbing drain system claiming that the cleanout was missing when the cleanout was there. He stated that exterior electrical boxes where flood lights are mounted needed to be caulked" it and quoted an IRC code. I looked up the code and found that the code was related to framing and nothing to do with electrical boxes. There were so many fabricated issues on the report that I simply decided to terminate the contract Because at this point buyers thought they were purchasing a lemon. We had to get two property inspections done close to the same time in order to complete financing on our new loft..The one on the place we were moving to was done on time and in a most professional manner. The second one missed a time deadline and caused considerable extra stress by not being finished when originally planned. Regarding the first one, it is so complete we have used it as a blueprint for issues needing to be addressed ( new hot water heater, service and modification of heating unit being the 2 " Biggies") as soon as we moved in. So we are VERY pleased with that one as it has helped us avoid future problems.The second report was equally comprehensive and complete, but by missing the first deadline we experienced a very tight final closing date on our purchase of the new place. I had hired Cornerstone to do an inspection on a home I was considering purchasing...Bill Flammer did the inspection on 11/7/2019 and for the most part did a decent job but failed to look in the attic area and make sure there were no issues. On the report he made sure to cover himself by saying that the homeowner had boxes blocking the path and he did not want to move so he could not verify the attic area. Fast forward 2 months and recently noticed a leak coming from the attic area and recent construction that had been done with exposed wiring and structural issues and also a lack of insulation above the living room. These issues most certainly would've come out if he had only checked the attic back in November! read more

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED I actually can't say enough about these guys. They gave me a 60+ page document with photos for every point that was found. The inspection was very thorough, and they are COMPLETELY worth their fee. They discovered that an A/C unit wasn't working properly, and I was able to get the seller of the house to make a concession for it. Also was able to save a good $3000 on the sale price due to other things the inspectors found. I recommended these guys to someone I work with, and at the end of their inspection, Cornerstone found mold in the attic of their place, and saved them $15,000 in costs to get rid of the mold. So my experience was great, my friend's experience was great, that's a pretty good batting average! You might find that their costs are not cheaper than others, but don't be penny-wise and pound-foolish. I got a return on my investment with them by almost 10x. My friend got a better return. I'm sure not everyone gets this kind of return with these guys as not all places have problems, but even knowing FOR SURE that there are no problems is totally worth it. Professionally done. Only negative would be the inspector noted 3 fogged windows needing replacement; there turned out to be 17 fogged windows which is a significant cost but they are difficult to detect depending on the time of day. read more
