Went there last night after my husband repeatedly mentioned how good their $2 tacos were on Tuesday nights. Came straight from work so long day and just wanted to enjoy the evening with a couple tacos! Walked in to a bar that was maybe 30% full with two tables taken and 5 people at the bar. Music was ridiculously loud so could barely hear each other talk at the table. Seems like the slots were popping a bit. Ordered a total of nine tacos for three people, two beers and water. Then proceeded to wait well over an hour for our food. The bartender was also the server (B/S) and I felt that she had been working there for a while as she ignored us while talking with everyone at the bar. A table of people left abruptly mid way through as I think they were waiting a very long time for their food to come out as well. There was a bit of a commotion as the B/S started yelling at the group, got her boss on the phone, etc. Felt like there might be an altercation right then and there between the group leaving, a few people at the bar and the B/S. We stayed about another 35-40 minutes with no food, no water, empty beer bottle and loud music. Food came out "warm" from the kitchen seconds after we got up and said we were leaving. Took food order to go and left very disappointed. Told my husband I didn't want to hear about "The Cottage" anymore for a long time! Would I return, maybe. Would check to see who the B/S was before sitting down. Feel I would like to give this place another shot as the tacos, even though just warm, we're pretty good. read more

I started coming to this place after seeing the Thursday Sloppy Joe special last year. Yesterday was probably my twelfth visit...and have been very pleased with the service and quality of food. The Cottage Bar & Grill - Tinley Park, Illinois ... 4 stars: This is a very nice little restaurant/bar on 159th Street. It is so little that you'll completely miss it if you are driving down the street too fast...you really have to look for it. It is smallish - maybe 6 tables seating four each inside, with another 5 high-seat tables seating two each next to the bar itself. Around the bar are a number of individual comfy bar chairs, probably less than a dozen. In the summer they expand out into their patio area and probably double their capacity. We went on a fish fry Friday a couple of weeks before Easter, and before they had opened up the patio area. Their all-you-can eat fish fry is very nice - four stars all by itself. They use a nice white fish and deep fry it with a nice light coating - no heavy batters for them. It was very tasty and hot...they make it to order so there is just a little delay in preparation. Even though it is all-you-can-eat ($9.50 ... $8.50 for a single serving), we were full on the first serving. We chose the home made chips and the French fried sweet potatoes for our sides - both were exceptional and both were made in-house. The beer was good and cold, and they had a full service bar for those looking for alternatives. Not really a place for craft beer, they still had a lot of choices...many on draft. Rather than a restaurant that is 80% tables and very little bar, this place is really 50-50. When you walk in, it is right on top of the bar...but be not afraid. This is a fine place to bring kids (tweeners and up) or parents or significant others - especially for the fish fry. We had always hesitated to visit because it looked like it might be just a dimly-lit bar only for drinking...but it isn't...give it a try. OK... so thanks again to Yelp and it's reviewers, I found a nice little bar and grill to go to for lunch! I'm gonna stick with the trend... definitely a 4 star establishment! Here's the skinny: Where's the Door? No Craft Beers... Daily Specials! Ooh... Patio Here's the fat: The main door to the bar and grill is a side door to your right as you walk underneath a trellis on the East wall. I wasn't sure which door to go into... There was on that said "Banquet Hall" and another door that kinda reminded me of a 16th century village house front door... that's the one. I asked if they had any craft beers but, unfortunately they did not. They do however have a fine selection of import beers, the one I tried today was Tennent's Scottish Lager($4.00) - pretty good, not my favorite beer but it was A-OK. Late night Irish pub with no Affliction shirts... Belly up to the bar for a perfectly poured Guinness and some friendly bar tender banter. This place is never overly crowded and has a great small Irish pub warm feel to it. Very relaxing. Add to it that they're also open until 2:00 am during the week without being a bumping mini-club where all the dudes where Affliction shirts, and you've got a solid little place right here in Orland Park's back yard. read more

We came in last night and stood by the bar and the bartender who's name I believe is Kami would not take our order. We motioned her many times and she acknowledged that we wanted to be served then walked down to the other side on the bar and ignored us. She was extremely rude! We eventually left as she watched us walk out the door and gave us a smirky good bye wave. We knew her intentions were not to serve us right from the beginning. We were very well dressed as we just came from dinner at Coopers Hawk. We were out celebrating with a politician from Illinois and will never go back to this place! Ultimately The Cottage was not a proper fit for this gathering, Glenna worked diligently to try to accommodate us and our needs. I don't often write updates on my bars, but the Cottage earned an update. I came here for the first time on a Friday night, the next night, I was at another bar and had the bartender from the Cottage working. Not only did she remember me, she remembered my name. I love a friendly bartender and it makes a big difference in my opinion. So we came back the following friday. New bartender, but she was just as friendly and attentive. She even overheard me say it was my birthday and insisted on buying me a beer and a shot. You don't get that kind of friendly service at all bars. Most bartender just serve and walk away. This place is small but fun and intimate and I will definitely go back again and again. read more

Food is terrible, waitress had cuts, and band aids all over her arm. Guinness is good. I was there recently with 4 friends. We spent a lot of money on drinks. Did not receive one free round. The nerd owner or manager whatever he is laughed at me when I said it would be nice to get a free round after spending $150 there. He sucks and so does this bar. 3rd time that we have been food and prices are descent and reasonable. There is a bartender there that is should not be working there. Her name is christy. She is has worked there for a long time and my friends never wanted to speak up. They would rather come and not spend money just spend time with friends because she used her authority not to serve because she didn't like them. I work for a law firm and that's not right. Typical dive bar with great locals. However, owner GREED, and the subpar service, which is very consistent outweigh the desire to go back. Went in for $1.50 sloppy joe night (as I do weekly). Ordered multiple drinks, multiple sandwiches, etc, and when I needed to take a sandwich home, I got charged $3.00 for a box. So much for taking care of your regulars and someone who had also been in your location for over a hour eating and drinking. VERY POOR customer service and appreciation. Ew ew ew. Live in the area and drive past all the time. My boyfriend and I went to check it out. Place was dirty. Very odd crowd- felt uncomfortable. We felt guilty to walk in and walk out so I ordered a vodka lemonade (cup looked dirty I felt gross drinking out of it) and my boyfriend chugged his beer to get out asap. Will never return. I went here for a paint and wine night on Friday. I ordered a BLT sandwich at 6:30. It took them an Hour and thirty minutes to make this. Apparently the cook was stressed out and was yelling at the staff too. The manager didn't offer anything for the inconvenience and just said "sorry" that my meal was delayed. Stopped in on Sunday, 2 October 2016 to watch the Bears game with a few friends! Bar is small and cozy, not overcrowded. The only real problem was that my group was hungry and tried to order some food from their menu, except there kitchen is closed on Sunday's! Didn't see that posted on there Yelp page. I often drove by this place and wondered what was it like. I finally decided to stop in for a beer and something to eat. I found a clean and friendly comfortable bar. The beer was cold, the food not so good at all. I ordered a Malibu chicken sandwich and sweet potato fries. I received 2 BURNT, deep fried chicken pieces on a bun with a piece of cheese and ham on it. They served it with REGULAR fries. When I complained I was told the chicken was frozen so they cooked it longer and they made a mistake on the fries. So I got stuck with a nasty, heavily BURNT and over cooked chicken sandwich and BURNT potato fries. Yes they over cooked the fries too. I recommend the place for a beer, but when it comes to service or food, go elsewhere. read more

My wife and I wented to try their Fish Fry that they advertise as being great. It was anything but. We had 80% batter, 5% grease and 15% fish (if you could find it). This was the worst Fish Fry that I have ever been to. We even try a few more pieces but it was still lame. If you want fish, McDonald's Fish Sandwich is 100 times better. Avoid this place and go elsewhere if you want fish. read more

This bar doesn't ID all the time, so minors can easily get in. The same groups of people constantly go there and it's never crowded. It's always empty. Just isn't a fun bar at all. Plus some of the regulars try to start fights. read more
