I just moved to Norfolk and was genuinely looking forward to giving this car wash a chance! I saw the negative reviews before coming, but I figured many of them were simply written by people who probably had unrealistic expectations. I am not a perfectionist, I just like to give my car a quick wash once in awhile to get the grime off..this car wash unfortunately did not accomplish that. I bought the "regular" wash - not the cheapest, and not the most expensive. After I got home from the car wash I took these pictures. My car literally looks exactly the same as before I went through. All the dirt, grime, and bird poop that was present before the wash is still there. Nothing was cleaned off. To be clear, I don't think it is this business that is at fault. The machines doing the car washing actually seem to be pretty high quality and I'm sure they weren't cheap. I think the *style* of car wash that is offered here is the real problem. They only offer "brushless" car washes that use soap and high pressure water spray but no brushes whatsoever to scrub the car. For a car that is truly dirty, I just don't think water and soap is enough without something to help agitate all the stuck on junk from the paint. I will gladly return in the future if this problem can be solved, because the price is right - but if my car doesn't get clean it kind of defeats the purpose. read more

Went here just because it's right down the road from my in-law's house. Put the requisite $1.50 in the vacuum as stated on the machine and it didn't turn on. I left and came back the next day. Put $2.00 in bills into a different vacuum and it worked. Pretty short vacuum time for $2.00 but whatever- it got the beach sand off the floor mats. Finally, just ran my Yukon XL through the car wash here. Bought the premium $16 wash and the car isn't even close to clean. The wash pretty much just got the car wet but didn't actually clean anything. Whole wash cycle was very fast and the driver side high pressure nozzles and soap were not functional. I went there this morning and got the $14 car wash. To say it was terrible would be an understatement. I am not a car wash expert but it only lasted about a minute and them prompted me to pull forward. I thought I was positioned wrong but it keep telling to me to continue forward into the dryer. They applied a coat of soap and the rinsed it off. Not sure if this is normal or not. If so, it was a terrible waste of money. The car was cleaner than when I went in but not much... Goes the extra mile. Mike advised me on how to get my F-150 looking its best after building up a nasty film over the winter. Even helped me wipe it down afterward. That's top notch customer service. I'm also impressed with his facility's commitment to being eco-friendly. A lot of other places don't make that a priority. That's worth an extra star in this day and age. I'm so glad I stopped here! At first, I was disappointed after one time going through with the express wash because none of the dirt on my car came off and was visible everywhere. I was super unhappy and was going to give a 1 star review. HOWEVER, When I stopped to look at my car after the wash, an employee came out with wash clothes when he saw me inspecting me car. He apologized for my unsatisfactory first wash, wiped down my entire car from the dirt, and sent me through the car wash again on the company's dime. My husband bought our car to this car wash a couple of months ago, and it turned out so badly that I thought it had to be a fluke, and there must have been some temporary issue on the day he had gone. I happened to be driving by recently, and against my better judgment, decided to give them another try. Same thing. My car came out covered in soap spots. The windows, windshield and back window were so covered in soap spots I had to clean them just to be able to see. The area around my wheels and the bottom of the car looked like it had never been cleaned. It was nothing more than a spray with soapy water. I will absolutely not go back, and would not recommend them at all. I'm angry for having wasted the money twice. read more

I was passing through Norfolk as a cut through to Route 1 when I came across what looked like a new car wash. Having just bought a new car that was filthy, I stopped In. Was greeted by the owner (Mike) and he was extremely nice. Got a regular wash and when I went to vacuum it I did a walk around. Car looked mint without and scratches. Took my car through their touch-less wash, it actually looked worse after. Not only was the not any cleaner, but I had more salt water spots. Their equipment looks very old, filtration doesn't seem to be working and pressure from spray arms and dryers were not very powerful compared to other touch-less car washes. Just got my Jeep Patriot detailed. You too can have your car interior look absolutely BRAND NEW for only $100‼ AND feel and smell new. The steering wheel and door consoles all feel clean and it smells awesome. Car is 5 years old and was never detailed and all the crevices (as well as everything else) were so dirty. Bought the upgraded car wash. When I pulled in the bay, only had one pass on the vehicle - rinse only. Car was not clean - still dirty. I walked in to the office and told them i did not get the wash that I paid for, it was very quick. First response was that "our wash is much faster than others". I replied that is fine, but my car is still dirty - to which the attendant replied "how dirty was it when it came in?". I didn't get the full wash - but the attendant answer was that their car wash is faster - but less effective than their competitors. Will not be back and do not recommend. At the time the wash was empty - easy solution would have just been to wave me through again, rather than defend a quick, ineffective wash for $15. read more

I've used this wash frequently. There are better ones around that don't leave spots and don't always have broken components like Cottage Car Wash but I've always used them to support local business. Today after waiting in line for 15 minutes two of the employees moved a car out of the detail bay and in front of me in line for the automatic wash. I asked one of the employees if he was cutting me. He came up to my window, looked me in the eyes and said "Yes". I asked if he was serious and he just responded "Yes". I left. I used to have my company vehicles done there as well but that isn't happening anymore. What an awful way to run a business. Primerose in Franklin is just over 5 minutes away and does a much better job in cleaning your car. I'd stay away from The Cottage Car Wash. read more

not worth the money. at all. did a regular wash just to get the salt and dirt off my white car mid-winter. the entire wash was less than 2 minutes (no wonder why there was no line). as i was driving home and the car was drying, i could still see the dirt on my windshield that can't be reached with the wipers. you know - the dreaded dirt rainbow. any other car wash would have at least got that off. and when I got home, I dragged my finger across my door and left a nice line across it ... in the dirt that wasn't removed. maybe if the car wash was longer than 2 minutes and actually WASHED the car, it would be worth $12. total rip off. will wait in line at my usual place all day instead of ever coming back. read more

I would definitely not give this place a 4 star rating! I was there for the first time yesterday....went through the auto wash...went out to vacuum my car and started wiping it down...noticed white "water" in thin streams running down the car...tried to wipe it and go all streaked...I asked the "manager/owner??" to look at it and he tells me it is water "stuck" behind the side mirrors...I told him the problem was the car wasn't rinsed right or there is some type of wax in the final rinse. He then asked if I drove through the dryer slowly I said yes. I leave and park a few miles away in Foxboro...get better view and these streams of white are all over the car! I called back..told to bring it back ..they would pressure wash it. When I drove all the way back out comes the same guy and tells me to drive around the back..many other cars there and I was not willing to wait...I thought the right thing to do would give me a refund and admit they have an issue with their rinsing system..no he coped an attitude when I asked him to look at the entire car insisting again it came from behind the side mirrors when it is all over the car! I have taken photos...but this man was extremely rude and told me basically he was right and tough cookies was his attitude! You couldn't pay me to return to that place..mickey mouse operation..$10 to drive thru and come out with a car all streaked!!! read more
