It was so relaxing, I felt an injection of renewal immediately and my face was glowing after. I definitely want to try the other options. Elvia from the cottage is awesome. Its hard to find a stylist & when you do you just hope they don't move away.

The setting was a little dull. I love my stylist who was nice, but also just renting out a booth. I sat in the back hallway and it seemed a little unkempt with some stray boxes left over. I really had to give it 3 stars because two employees went out back to smoke and came back in wafting the smell with them. It was overwhelming and lingered the rest of my haircut. Bridget did a color correction on my hair and she did an amazing job! She completely transformed my hair from a terrible dye job from another salon and she did a deep conditioner treatment which made my hair extremely soft and healthy feeling after having to be processed so much. Great atmosphere and haircut for a very reasonable price, and I was able to get an appointment within two days of my call.

I had a cut and balayage done at The Cottage Salon February 2018 and it was overall very expensive and disappointing. At first, I really loved the color and cut, but that quickly changed. After about 1 week, the color faded- which I've never had happen with a balayage. The cut was still what I wanted, but I couldn't get over paying over $200 for a color that didn't last. The Cottage Salon is good for a quick cut, but I highly recommend going somewhere else for coloring. Especially if you want it to last longer than a week... read more

I had two appointments with Bridget a while back, the first service she gave me was okay but not exactly what I was wanting but the second time she fried my money piece area of my hair and had the audacity to tell me it would fade. I'm not stupid, bleach isn't going to fade. I know toner will but not bleach. I reached out to my old stylist for advise (she's a stay at home mom now) and she validated my feelings of frustration from Bridget gaslighting me. Terribly expensive for a shitty job done and Bridget was talking on the phone and texting the whole time. I was so uncomfortable. Would never recommend. read more

Went there for a trim and keratin treatment. When the owner took me back to the wash bowl there was a giant clump of hair on the seat. It was not clean. Irregardless I thought it was maybe just an off day and still tipped. Paid $40 for a keratin treatment that was no different than a conditioner. Scheduled a $320 Brazilian smoothing treatment and the owner canceled the morning of and we have never heard back. read more

I give them no starts i walked in and was stereotypes spoke to Fran about my hairs and she sounded like she didn't want to do to much hair we talked about sessions first one was hair cut root touch ups and oleplex .Then will talk at the seasion what it will take and when I show up she was wey rude and pretty much told me that will take a lot of sessions she didn't want to do and then proceed to say her clients want that but now adays can't afford it and kept asking me if I can aford it yes. Definitely not a place for fades. The place is small, the ladies are very welcoming and seem to do a good job with the whole salon thing, but there definitely not barbers. If your going there for a perm or some lady haircut i'm sure they'll do a good job. But if your a man looking for a clean fade stick to the real barbers Medium fade = $20.00 read more

I've been going to Crystal R. for 5+ years. I've tried other places, other people, and I never get the result I want, so now where Crystal goes, I follow. The atmosphere at The Cottage Salon is very welcoming. There is no pressure to buy products, no pressure on the staff to hurry from client to client, and all the stylists get along and involve each other in opinions on color and cut. I came in once on a self proclaimed 'bad day' and was offered a glass of chilled wine - um, yes please! I like to fly by the seat of my pants and make appointments randomly, and I always get worked in quickly. I even made an end-of-day appointment for a cut, and when I arrived I asked if Crystal could add color to my appointment, and she did! So So So happy. Came here over a year ago while i was in town (I live in Guam and my mom lives here in Mt Vernon). Had Heidi, she blew my mind with her expertise and knowledge... i waited a year to come back and be able to have her again. When I got here this summer I called to schedule... she was book 2 MONTHS OUT! Bridgett happened to have an opening, I accepted because I needed an "American" hair do... she was AMAZING! Best hair ever! I bragged about my experience with my mom and two sisters, who all live here. My sister has now "divorced" her previous hair dresser for bridgett and my mom has the next three appts with heidi booked, and my mom is SO HARD TO PLEASE WHEN IT COMES TO HAIR! she is never happy. With her age has come thinning and graying hair and she blames hair dressers. She has also held onto her 80s styling efforts no matter how hard we encourage a change... Heidi has finally showed/encouraged her to style more in the times and it is so fabulous! Talk about attention to detail! I'm in the middle of an 8-week vacation and the most difficult task so far is finding someone that can cut hair! I made the mistake of going to a barber with a single seat in a rickety shack decorated in trinkets that could *possibly* cause you to get a tetanus shot. I have simple directions when it comes to my cuts.. the only thing I could tell the stylist is, "fix it", and she proceeded, flustered and apologetic. After about 30-40 minutes of clipping, combing and cutting, she pulled away from her finished product... I was immediately relieved to see that she was able to fix the mess atop my head. I may discontinue my visits to barbers and stick to salons after this experience! read more

Horrible haircut by a rude person!I am normally not the type to even review places unless it's amazing but I have never been treated so rudely ever, especially in a customer service establishment. I have had bad haircuts in the past and decided to try this place, I booked my appointment online with Stephanie. I showed up promptly only to have to wait for the stylist to finish doing her own nails?! She finished doing her nails only to make me feel even more unwelcome by stating that she just doesn't normally get appointments other than her regulars so she wasn't expecting me to show up. (hence her doing her nails when I was supposed to show up). Even though this was the start to my appointment I just brushed it off, big mistake! She asked me what I wanted and I explained I have had bad experiences in the past so it's been awhile since my last haircut and I just wanted enough cut off so my hair was healthy again and that I wanted side swept bangs. She said no problem and shampooed, trimmed, and was about to cut my bangs, after asking me several times what side I part my hair on and me explaining what side over and over, and then she cut my bangs. I have curly hair that is very hard for me to tell whether or not its a good cut until I style it myself, so I just assumed it was a good cut, paid her, tipped her well, and went on my way. The next day when I washed and styled my hair it was horrific, my bangs especially, which all ended at the same length so it wasn't side swept at all but just a big chunk of hair on the side of my head. Later I realized she cut them so they would be perfect if I parted my hair on the opposite side. Why did she even ask me several times what side I parted my hair on. I was so disappointed and upset that she had done such a hack job. I'm not sure if she did this on purpose because I told her my bad experiences or if she truly just shouldnt cut hair. Either way she lost a potential client and I will never even step foot in this salon again. The true bummer is I'm sure the other girls aren't bad, but she ruined that place in my eyes. read more

What can I say...this is the cutest place, with the best stylist. Came in with a problem that a previous hairdresser could or would not address. I met with Carrie and she took that time to address the problems, came up with a solution and produced an amazing color and cut. What a great bunch of girls! Of course, I searched and searched procrasinated and then I found the Cottage Salon on yelp. After reading their reviews, I took a deep breath worked up the courage and called. Having had it with my hair I just wanted it to be fixed. Not only did they give me a warm feeling on the phone and got me in the same day, when I walked in Bridgett and Heidi made me feel like I had made the right decision. As Heidi worked her magic on my hair, we all chatted it up. Then the real selling point came, you mean I can book an appointment on-line? Oh these girls can cut hair and are tech-savy! This is my kind of place. After leaving the salon my husband was most impressed that I didn't go home and "fix" my hair again. Heidi did an awesome job! I didn't tell her much as to what I wanted other than I wanted it fixed and I don't like to have to do much to it, blow drying it is a stretch, but that my hair is very important to me. I recently moved from Spokane, WA where I love and trusted my hairdresser beyond words....and yes, I would make trips out there from Whidbey just to get my hair cut. Going back to school and now having a more limited budget, can't quite afford a haircut that sends me across the state. I started my online search for someone more local and at the time, each of the salons didn't really have a large Yelp base, but I narrowed it down to a couple and then went on their websites for a little more research. I went to the Cottage Salon website and what do I find? Online scheduling!!! You mean I can make an appointment at 2am, if I want??? SOLD! I was super impressed by Bridget's technical savvy website, but beyond impressed at her styling ability. Found this place based on yelp reviews. Called looking to get my hair cut (about 6 inches off) and they fit me in that same day. I felt very comfortable the entire time I was there as though I was a regular. The staff was very friendly and the salon was clean and cute.
