I'm new to waxing, so at first I wasn't sure whether what happened was normal, but after talking with my wife afterward, it sounds like it was not. During my first visit, after the waxing was completed, my back was wiped down and some type of soothing cream was applied. This time, the moment the final strip was removed, the technician immediately walked out saying, "I'll see you at the front." There was no cleanup, no wipe down, and no aftercare product applied at all. I had to put my shirt back on over a raw, sticky back, which was pretty uncomfortable. Additionally, the wax/oil felt significantly hotter than during my first appointment. For a service that ends up costing around $100 with tip, I expected a bit more of a spa-like experience and consistency. To be fair, this place receives very good reviews overall, so maybe this was just an off experience. I even wondered afterward if I had somehow offended the esthetician, though I can't imagine how since I'm not much of a talker. They seemed perfectly fine when checking me out and even scheduled me for another appointment in 4 weeks, so I'm honestly just trying to make sense of the difference between visits. Unfortunately, this experience was enough that I won't be returning.

I'm old school when I wear matching lipstick and nail polish to coordinate with colors in my clothing...and yes my toenails too‼ Jana is the owner and I've gone to her salon in Burlington for 12 years. She is a perfectionist and makes sure that I consistently receive a great spa experience. My nails are shaped as I want and she makes sure that I am well cared for. Jana always asks about my mother who came with me to Jana many years ago while she was alive and visiting me in La Conner. She cares and it shows Family work with Jana in the salon making it a loving environment. The prices are great and a great value. Oh! By the way I have my Cosmetology license in Washington state for Hair, Skin, and nails so I know that Jana has a safe work environment that provides the necessary sanitary requirements by the State Board for Cosmetology in Washington State. I was in Burlington for the morning anyway and knew it was impossible to find an opening at a Bellingham salon on a Friday. I booked an appt the night before through vagaro.com, which was really handy! This place is lovely, nicely laid out, and busy but organized. I got a wonderful shampoo, haircut, and style from Julie, who took lots of time looking at photos and making sure she knew just what I wanted. Someone passed out chocolate chip cookies which were delicious! The feel of the salon is professional and sleek but also relaxed and fun, and all their products smell amazing. My one very small complaint (and feedback to the owner) is that there is a subtle smell of old urine in the salon. I recognized it from my days working in an assisted living facility, and then realized that most of the other clients were elderly women. I think the odor of someone's incontinence may have seeped it's way into a chair or two! DON"T let this prevent you from going to the salon though. It was a great experience, I got a great cut, and it didn't break the bank like a haircut in Bellingham would! Highly recommended and will definitely go back!

The last time I got a pedicure here, I wound up with an ingrown toe nail from the way the person cut my nails. When I walked in this past Saturday evening, I was assigned the lady I really liked the 3 previous times I came in, before I got the ingrown toe nail. Unfortunately, she was not as great as I had previously remembered her services. I immediately regretted getting the "most expensive pedicure package", she had offered me. She opened a brand new box and at least 4 new packages of different lotions and foot masks, but she was only using 1/2 of the actual product on me. I got annoyed thinking 1/2 my money was going to be wasted or thrown away. I absolutely, asked to have the rest of the packets put back in the box cause at this point, I'm taking them home with me. When I kindly asked her to remove just a bit more callous from a certain spot. Instead of using the same small purple pumice stone, she pulled out the cheese grater and went to work on the small area I had mentioned. I pulled my leg away from the scalding hot water she didn't test before letting it run onto my shin, afterwards she used nothing but cold water to rinse my legs and feet. I just wanted it to hurry up and be over with after a certain point. Most upset about having to come home and fix what I didn't feel comfortable asking her to fix, while I was there.
