Was going to go through small claims but doesn't seem worth my time so I'll take these few minutes to share our experience. Unfortunately, put a $375 deposit down for a bathroom vanity countertop installation with CRI for an installation date of 12/27/2021. It was months of waiting and being told the remanent material needed to be fabricated from another installation so we waited and understood the delay. If there was a 2.5 star rating I would award that, but if three is okay my experience comes in under that! We had The Counter Specialist install kitchen counters. They came in at the cheapest by far in the area for (what appeared to be) the same things as everyone else so we went with them. There were some issues with the initial install: The cut out for the cooktop was not done quite correctly, they damaged the sink cabinet floor when shutting off the water and there was some slight damage to our hardwood flooring. There were some other small things, but the guys who did the install were very nice and Chris and the team did come back the next day to fix the things listed. I am happy they did that, but in my opinion should have been done right the first time. I do think if a template had been done the counters would have been a little more accurate. I did notice in other reviews that this is something that is routinely skipped by this company. Overall I would not go with them next time even though the savings was substantial. The granite looks much nicer than the tile we had, but it does have some slight imperfections and the workmanship was not as professional looking as I would have expected from a company specializing in granite installation. read more

The final straw was my client who I referred them too and he left the house a mess, the wall torn apart, messed up the plumbing and flooded the basement. Do not hire this company!!!! They are dishonest and unprofessional. DO NOT pay upfront. Pay when job is completed. I hired Chris to install countertops in my laundry and kitchen.I was quoted a reasonable price for quartz and granite. On the day of installation, the installers brought in marble instead of quartz countertop attempting to deceive me. The countertop was delivered in incorrect size and a cheaper material. Chris promised to replace the incorrect piece, and 12 weeks later nothing. He stopped responding to my messages. Chris did kitchen counter tops for us in 2016 and a back splash. Counter top was good but back splash was awful and had to be redone. He had a sub do the back splash. We had a large section of counter top material left over. He was going to make 2 small items from the remnants for us. He avoided about 20 calls and voice mails and end result is he proved what his true business skills are. Zero. Still no returned call even when we tried this year. Our experience with this contractor was tumultuous to say the least. Was recommended by a friend, called day I got the number, he was at or house in the span of an hour. Awesome! Very timely and was assertive, though not pushy about call text and email over next 36 hours to secure a contract and first half of $4000 for our two slab kitchen project. Then when came time for the project - was very hard to get scheduled for the template, which he DID NOT MAKE, he just wrote measurements down with a tape measure. This came back to bite him in the butt later it seemed and from talking to several other granite people - a template is the standard and not Making one was a huge issue. We were asked to wait a week which was pushed to 8 days for install. The first day he was supposed to come install, his guy showed up at the end of the one hour window he gave to cut the holes for sink and cooktop in the cabinets. And hour AFTER he was said to be there, he called to say he needed more time and wouldnt install till next day. Had not even texted his worker to that affect. I was pretty frustrated at his seemingly lack of organization, and vented out loud to my husband. HUGE mistake in front of his worker who apparently let him know. Back to this later... Next day he came to install. We had 5 large pieces plus 2 window sills to install. Of those, he ended up installing 3, two of which we were windowsills that were chipped all to hell and the large piece he did get installed, had an edge that was not yet polished. The bartop was cut completely the wrong way for the overhang - needed redo. He mis measured the piece over the cooktop, needed redo. He ordered the wrong sink, so the island piece needed a different hole recut for the sink, and because of the incorrect sink and all the screw ups, he said I'll have to come back Monday. This was going to be adding 6 days to the project. I'll give him the credit he did offer to give us the $160 in windowsills for free. Next day I had my cabinet guy in to finish the uppers and let him know chris had mentioned needing to loosen a panel on install next week. He asked to talk to him to clarify as he had never heard in 25 years of this being necessary. Got chris on the phone, and took him 25 seconds to have my cabinet install guy screaming at him because he was so horrendously rude, and he hung up on my install guy. I called him back to clear things up and he proceeded to YELL AND SCREAM at ME the customer for over 20 minutes before I could get a word in. He apparently had heard my frustrations through his worker and taken it VERY personally for which I did apologize. However, he was completely in denial and said he had only screwed up one thing when the count was at over 5 things that had gone wrong. Threatened me he would not show up on Monday unless I promised to pay cash at this point. I told him absolutely not credit card was fine. He screamed more. Finally got him calmed down. An hour later he texted that Monday was not going to work it would be Tuesday at 9. Over the weekend he texted again saying he needed to push ANOTHER DAY and would be there Wednesday at 8:30. Showed up at 9:15. Replaced entirely the windowsills so that's a plus, and all pieces seem okay. The one seam came out fabulous, and almost all the edges are great. The bartop has a chip on the corner, and they ended up digging into our drywall all along the counter because he didn't make a template to have it fit perfectly. When he was done he had the payment all set up on his phone for credit card, but for $180 too high. I had to ask him to change it, this should NEVER HAPPEN, because what if I didn't notice?!?! Additionally, it never occurred to me in our split level to ask about the undersides of the bartop and island overhang, and he left them unfinished with the mesh on. After paid and left, I noticed and decided I never wanted to interact again because of how horrible the service part of the experience was and posted on Facebook - family friend is in the biz, was here next day to fix Chris l's lack of attention to detail. I feel this was something a professional granite person should have asked about to confirm having seen the layout of our home. All in all the final product was okay, but the experience was horrible. I would never recommend this company to anyone. Disclaimer: he did share he had been in a car accident and had a family member take ill all right before our job, but in my opinion if this was the case either he should have subbed out the job, or gave us our money back and asked us to find someone else. read more

We had CTS, Inc, aka The Counter Specialist install granite in both our bar area and bath. I will simply state facts and let you make your own decision. I have also posted photos of the work so you can determine if this would be acceptable to you. Here are simply the facts of the job The job was bid and scheduled within a short time frame and completed in one day. We were told the job would start between 8:30-9:00am and had to call them at 10am to see where they were. They showed up a short time later. NO TEMPLATE (which is a generally accepted necessity) was ever made. Just raw tape measurements. The granite in several areas varied in thickness (as shown in the photos) and in one case was extreme. When I questioned this issue, I was told that granite will vary and that's just how it is. We have had granite in previous homes and also had a different contractor install two slabs in our kitchen and 2 in other bathrooms and a laundry room and have never experienced this before. We paid for the plumbing reconnect because I did not want to deal with it. After the job was complete, I ran the sinks to test and all 3 sink drains leaked, one drain connection leaked and one supply connection leaked. Since it was later in the evening, I was able to fix one myself and had to deal the next day with fixing the other two that were not assembled with the proper materials/process. I know enough about plumbing and also had family visiting very soon so I just wanted it fixed soon (and properly) which is why I did it myself. My thought was if they couldn't get it right the first time, there was no point in wasting a repeat visit. A couple days later when sitting in a certain spot, I noticed a wide swath of what appeared to be dried "clearish" residue all along 2 seams and was very noticeable. This seemed to be dried adhesive as I could not remove it with any cleaner or rubbing. After multiple attempts, we were finally able to reach the owner and schedule a time for him to fix this. We were informed this would be an easy fix and that if his chemical solution did not work to remove it, he could simply use his buffer. For that appointment he did not show up nor call or answer his phone. We gave him the benefit of finally being able to contact him again and reschedule only to have the same thing happen once more. Then we still gave him 3 more chances to make it right. All met with excuses of why he could not show the day of, after we had moved our schedules around to accommodate him. It has been almost 3 months of the runaround and now unfortunately we are going with a granite repair company to fix his work that he does not care to address. In addition to the leaky plumbing, the seam issue and the thickness problem, there is also a part of the edge that was ground so poorly that when you put a straight edge on it, you can stick the cover of a book between it and the edge of the granite. Some of the backsplash areas are sitting nice and square on the countertop and some are not even close. We also were concerned with support of the granite. As such, he installed 3 supports along the bar top but the end area which was clearly a scrap cut to fit (it should have been fabricated as two pieces but we got three, 2 small scraps and one piece much thinner than the others) does not have any support at all. This area has more of the piece of granite hanging over the edge of the counter than is on top. When questioned about this, since this is the area people will stand and rest on, I was told "we glued it really good from the bottom and along the seam." Generally, from what I understand, glue is not a real good way to support granite from stress. CTS Inc, aka The Counter Specialist, was very good at accepting payments, they did complete their work in a timely manner and that is where their contact and warranty ends with the customer. The quality of the work was below par, the materials low grade, and the concern for any issues does not exist. If this is what you desire in a granite installation company near Denver, CO, CTS is the place for you. If what you are looking for is a quality, reputable and respectable company, CTS inc, aka The Counter Specialist, is not the place for you. read more

We are so very please with the work Chris's team did for us with our kitchen granite counter tops. Not only was the price about half what other companies were charging, but the work was amazing. Details of the proposal were laid out ahead of time and crews were punctual. We knew what was to happen and when. The seaming of granite slabs by our kitchen sink is truly amazing, and even we have to look to find it. Chris has been available any time we had questions or concerns, and he even did some additional granite work on ledges in our kitchen and family room.which look phenomenal and tie everything together. This guy has been unbelievable. Cancelled no less than 8 times delaying our remodel by an entire month (with a new excuse each time - see t.j's review, same excuses used with us! Hmmmmm...), tried to install once and we made them take it away because there were too many things wrong. After excuse #8 owner Chris said he would come and stay for the install but only stayed briefly and then left his 2 young guys to finish, who were just all about getting it done quickly and leaving. When my husband brought to their attention that a section was not straight the guy (Nick) argued with him then finally fixed it while silently cussing him out. One piece has a huge chip out of the back which they said the backsplash would cover and it does not. Now we are left with a chip that needs repair and another countertop front that isn't straight, and Chris is up to his old m.o. of making lots of excuses again and not coming.
