Very friendly techs/nurses (I'm not sure what to call them) but customer service at the reception desk is terrible. They entered my pup as the incorrect name and tried to blame me. Also, if you show up for vaccinations before 3pm, they will just let the line build up while not acknowledging anyone. If you say anything, they give you dirty looks. I took my dog back in April this year he tested positive for heart worms they prescribed medicine only to find out when I went back one month later that they gave me the wrong instructions on how to administer him the medicine because the doctor didn't pay attention to what his staff are writing in the labels or prescriptions! The technician was following protocol from another clinic he was working at and the doctor didn't even know until I went back. So he had to start the treatment all over again. I gave him the medicine according to the instructions and I took him again today only to find out he tested high positive again! The doctor couldn't give me an answer as to why and he finally asked me what I wanted him to do??? So unprofessional! Like if I'm the doctor here? I literally spent 500 dlls or more for him to tell me the treatment didn't work? It's not about the money is the fact that I did everything possible to help my dog and in the end my dog needs to start treatment all over again but not here I'm taking him to another clinic where I can see they really care about him! If you care about your pets take them somewhere else, because they won't give you an answer in this place! They just care about taking your money and don't even show any affection for your pet. Wouldn't wish to give one star. I had my pets ears cropped here and was quoted a certain price. Which brought up to their attention they still wouldn't honor. It turned nasty and into a huge comfrontation with all them telling me not to come back. With my dogs having stitches still in their ears. Today was the last straw for them to earn my respect or business. If someone talks down to me and treats me like nothing. They will get it right back. I think this place is dirty. Filthy and rude.. The place is run by a bunch of rude staff that have no regard how they speak to you and everything is drama. No thank you. I will speak with my credit card about a credit since they never finished the first job on my dogs ears. No reason for me to be overcharged for that and overpriced I might add if your not willing to take them back for the removal of the stitches. Thats how bad it got with this place. This is my experience. It started from me mentioning how they quoted one price but charged another and it escallated. I'm no penny pitcher but they should code of conduct honor what they tell you. And they will turn it around like they aren't willing to take credit for their own staff's actions. I have been twice and have a good experience. The first time we brought our bearded dragon and one of the technicians there had several bearded dragons. He gave us so much helpful advice, a big bag of essential vitamins, checked his stool for bacteria ...our bearded dragon is now thriving. The visit was not that expensive ..saved us from having to go to Edinburg. The second visit was with our Dogo Argentino puppy. I found the staff friendly and efficient. I love the vet...he was a problem solver since our puppy tested negative for parvo ...did not seem to have an obstruction...bloodwork wasn't as bad as he thought it would be and yet the puppy was really sick. Sent us home with an IV and two types of medicine. Our puppy is doing so much better. I know you have to wait in line on Saturday mornings and we were there a long time ... but where in the valley can you do this? I'm so grateful for the country vet and their service . Our other option would be to drive to McAllen to PET 911 which is sooooo expensive. Our tech Alec was so polite and efficient. I was pleased with the charges ...so reasonable in comparison to the other vets in the valley. read more

After my 8 week old Chihuahua puppy chewed a plant he threw up and quickly became unresponsive and was barely breathing. I rushed trying to find a vet and drove 8 miles before finding The County Vet. I found it was already closed. I proceeded to use Google to find a emergency vet, I had lots of trouble. I saw them closing up and walking to their vehicle. My puppy was slipping fast. I parked along the street and got down to ask from where I was if they knew of a emergency vet near by. I was not in their property but on side of street. I waved at them and a man and women proceeded to yell and wave and me angrily and with an attitude, for me to go and get out of the way. I was in nobody's way. Simply wanted to know closest place to take my puppy Kenny. I was angry and disappointed at their behavior. I will never take my pets there, or advise others to. Terrible attitude s on their part. I drove all the way to McAllen and saw a emergency vet there with my puppy barely hanging on. He was seen and treated and I'm happy to say he's doing better. read more

Receptionists, or at least one in particular, are rude, unprofessional, uncaring, and complete their basic job duties with attitude just above contempt. I am a manager for local healthcare provider, and this type of behavior is unacceptable. Receptionist are your front line of defense. Patients are to be treated with respect and courtesy. They set the tone of visit, and just as quickly can loose your clientele. I recently had a pet emergency. If it were not a dire emergency, I would have promptly provided a resounding lecture on appropriate protocol to the offender and taken my business elsewhere. Dr. John is probably the best vet we have, extremely knowledgeable, kind, and willing to explain things at your level. The only downside is they are very busy, very packed, not good at answering their phone. But if you come as a walk-in on Wednesday or Saturday you need to come very early and wait for hours, but the care will be top notch. read more

My mother has been going to Dr. John for years and has been reasonably happy with he and his staff. Today was a different story. We stopped by for a simple nail clipping on two small dogs and it took an hour and a half to see a tech to get it done. The techs were great once we got to see them but the staff at the front desk seemed to have no idea what the meaning of "customer service" is. Because they claimed a doctor had to be present and the staff was on lunch @ 1:45 on a Tuesday, we had to wait until after 3:00 to get it done. This would have been fine if they would have told us when we arrived! They didn't tell us until we were sitting in the lobby for a half an hour! And that was because I asked. Apparently, I was responsible for knowing their schedule because it is posted on the front door. What a joke. Who wouldn't tell a customer that it was going to be an hour and a half before they can see you, when you first arrive? Seriously lame and no apology what-so-ever. That is just how they do it. Weak customer service. Additionally, once we were seen, the fee for 10 minutes of work went up by $2.00 a dog since the last time my Mother went a couple of weeks ago. $14 for a simple grooming procedure that we waited ages for. Maybe if the staff had any inclination of wanting us back, they would have just had some simple common sense. Get off your phone! We will be using a different vet for 5 dogs now. This is a public service message: Unless you have a high tolerance for frustration, I recommend that you avoid this vet! Here's why: I attempted to book an appointment for my pet online, as recommended, but the web site kept returning error messages. I then attempted to call the clinic. After two days of not having my calls returned, I mounted a sustained campaign this morning, calling 10 different times, starting at 7:30 in the morning--no answer, no means of leaving a voice message (apparently their voicemail box is full)! When I finally got a human being to answer, the person on the other end of the line was surly with me. Nevertheless, I requested an appointment for my pet, and was told that the first available appointment would be in late May! Of course, I was told, I could bring my pet in as a walk-in, but I would probably have to be there by 6:30 am to get her seen! Needless to say, I decided to switch vets. I've been trying to contact the Vet SINCE FEBRUARY I've been calling and calling and calling for MONTHS but they never answer their phones, I can't leave a voice-mail because their mailbox is full. I tried making an appointment online however that doesn't work at all. I've emailed them 4 times and no response. I went to the vet today at 4AM and waited 4 HOURS to see a vet just to get my dog spayed. Just to have them tell me "you need to make an appointment, we don't do walk ins" IVE BEEN TRYING TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT SINCE FEBRUARY. If they just did their jobs and answered the phone or their emails, I wouldn't have woken up at 4 IN THE MORNING JUST TO WASTE MY TIME. But I'd figured doing a walk-in would be 1000 times easier since they haven't responded to any of my calls or emails in 4 MONTHS. I had heard great things about this vet and was finally able to bring my puppy in today as a walk in. The wait was long even if you arrive before 8 to wait in line, but the service is worth it. The employees make you and your pet feel welcomed the second you get there. The vet actually took his time with my puppy and legitimately cared about it. It's very affordable also. First and LAST time going to this place!! Showed up 12 minutes prior to closing with NO ONE ELSE waiting there. There were 6 staff people in the front just talking ready to leave for the day. I drove 15 minutes with my dog and baby just to be turned down before I even got 3 words in. When looking for a vet The country vet came highly recommended. Due to the stay at home order I wasn't able to go for my puppy's first set of shots because I'm from Brownsville and had them done here in my town, just for the first visit I payed $95 last week I was able to go to The country Vet and I am so pleased with all the staff. Everyone was so nice in the reception. There was a wait but it's understandable due to covid19 they are half staffed, my puppy got his shots and I only payed $30 for dappv shot and his rabies shot Thank you so much will be going back for his next set of shots read more
