It can be dangerous when an elderly patron learns the name of the server. Next thing you know they are requesting every little thing on a first name basis. But Jimi digresses. What a wholesome, wonderful place to make memories. We went here after a photo session in the foothills and it was so simple and good. We were also celebrating our teenager's birthday and our server Emily got the entire restaurant to sing to him. So fun! I will be back. I don't usually like bbq places but this was memorable. My one complaint is the servings were huge but the plates were small. Plenty of leftovers but hard to manage on such small plates. We tried both the lean and the moist brisket, both were excellent but I liked the moist best. Ribs were tasty and cooked properly. The mashed potatoes may very well have been my favorite mashed potatoes ever. I wish I had taken pics of the food but I only got a selfie and the video of our son being sung to. This place is so adorable and the location is beautiful! Our waitress was nice and helpful. I was looking forward to trying this place but the food was just OK. The food was not hot just a bit warm. I'm sorry but I like my food hot. The Mac and cheese tasted like the one from a school cafeteria not great. The meat was good but it would had been better if it was hot. I'm going to start off by saying I had never eaten in, only ordered delivery and those times were amazing. Yes the temp cools but the meats were juicy and flavorful still. Then I got to go with my friend and we got the 5 meat sampler each. Still ended up with too much food and AMAZING leftovers. The coleslaw needs just a little something, maybe onions and celery seed but good. Okra was great. Beef rib, pork rib (overdone but they quickly replaced it with a perfect 1/4 rack) turkey and sausage. Now that I look back I didn't get the pulled pork it was supposed to have but that's ok I think they subbed it out for brisket. I should have asked for the fattier cut because that's my preference over the lean. Great servers very helpful and a tasty marg! At County Line the brisket is dry, the chicken is flavorless and the sausage is ok. I've visited the County Line in Austin and it's so much better than ABQ. Why? New cooks? Lax management? My pork ribs were burnt and dry. They did NOT fall off the bone and I could barely cut the meat off. Their ovens were broken so no homemade bread which they are famous for.... Hmm, I don't like giving such a low rating, but in this case it is deserved. Good things: beautiful to drive there, charming interior, nice waitstaff, tasty bread and good selection of beer, get the right table for views! They got these two stars for this. Otherwise...... Everything else was substandard. We went in the late afternoon. We had snow squalls, so the mountains were very pretty. We were promptly taken in, we had a reservation. Nice booth with fairly good view and near the fireplace. We were both excited to see Mac n cheese on the menu as a side option. We both ordered it, my husband had chicken fried steak, I have 2 portion smoked chicken and brisket. We first had the house bread (which you pay for, although we had a YELP FREEBIE!) and house salad. Dressing was ho hum, salad was good, bread was great! The main course entrees were lukewarm, the Mac n cheese was horrible. My smoked brisket was tasty, just not warm , chicken was stiff and cold. My husband took one bite of his CFS and did not touch the rest. It was all very disappointing. This place definitely has a nice vibe, good staff. My wife and I had planned to have a light meal on top of Sandia Mountain. However, we were treated so rudely and unprofessionally by the restaurant staff that we decided to try our luck elsewhere after riding the tram down. Since the County Line is located on Tramway Blvd, it was the first place we spotted, and I liked the look of the place. It was a great choice ! The sprawling parking lot was practically full, attesting to its popularity. We were greeted cordially and promptly seated in the bar while waiting for an empty table. We ordered a couple of draft Stellas and enjoyed the interesting bar area. We were called after only about 10 minutes, and seated in the dining area. This place is a feast for the eyes, replete with Americana on almost every square inch of wall. Not wanting a heavy meal, I ordered the Brisket Tacos Appetizer ($9.49). It consisted of three tacos wrapped in flour tortillas, cut in half, making six pieces. Containers of shredded cheese, guacamole and salsa completed the dish. The brisket portion was generous and amazingly flavorful, and I had fun building up the tacos. It was a very enjoyable light meal. Our server was Kacee K., and she was simply awesome. Her gracious service and helpful attitude made up for the idiots in the Sandia Mountain restaurant. We will be sure to visit this great restaurant again when in the area. read more

I thought the food was just ok. The garlic mashed potatoes and creamy coleslaw were really good but the 3 meats I got were average. The chicken was pretty dry, the pulled pork was also pretty dry but the brisket was good and very tender. I think everything could have used a bit more seasoning and smoky flavor. Their barbecue sauce was very tangy and I'm used to a little more sweet but it wasn't bad. My husband had the salad with grilled salmon and he enjoyed it . This is a review that almost didn't happen! My wife, Susanne, and I wanted to celebrate our fourth wedding anniversary yesterday at a place that I had never been to before. We chose the County Line. On their website was an opportunity to make a reservation. This brought us to a smartphone app called Resy. We chose "2:00 PM on the patio" as our time and location. We finished some errands early and decided to see if we could get in early because we were starving, so we arrived just after one. We were told that we were fortunate we didn't show up later because they close at two and reset during the three hour span until they re-open at five for dinner! Oops! Anyway, Laurie, our server, was very friendly and provided excellent service. The food is plentiful and delicious. Susanne ordered a two-meat combo consisting of green chili infused pork loin and their second brisket. I opted for the Grand Slam five meat combo. Beef & pork ribs, smoked turkey, sausage & brisket. We each chose two sides: she the side salad and okra and I, a loaded baked potato and mac & cheese. Honestly, we should have ordered one entrée with two sides and split it because we have so much leftover food we had to make room in the refrigerator for the next two days at least. Susanne and I split the generous portion of salad. The smoked pecan vinaigrette dressing was superb. Fresh greens & cherry tomatoes, and a couple of cucumber slices made for a tasty appetizer! To be perfectly honest the okra was nothing to write home to grandma about. That's ok. They weren't going to let us starve! Our meat platters were excellent. Everything was perfectly prepared. Susanne finished all of hers, while I only tasted a bit of everything and only managed to finish the turkey before asking Laurie for take home boxes! I never touched the potato and my bride and I took a spoonful of the mac & cheese to determine that it passed muster. When the next table over mentioned dessert and we learned that they specialize in fruit cobblers, we decided to try the peach (for Susanne) and the cherry w/vanilla ice cream (for me). I remember when everyone used to say it wasn't worth the money and was far too expensive. Come Oct 2019, we ended up going a lot because it was right next to Outpost and we were going for NAHL games. I've continued ordering from them since then on GrubHub and enjoy them, though the $6.99 fee to order is not great (not their fault, that's a GrubHub thing). I like that they could answer my questions about the food and were willing to double-check things. I don't much care for their sauce though, which is a bit sad, so I just order it for home and use my own store-bought sauce instead. read more

What a great find! The outside dining area is the first thing you see and wow the views, you cannot beat! You walk back in time when you step foot inside. The old time "love game" greets you and everything makes you feel so nostalgic. We were seated immediately and the host was super friend (and had really great hair that I had to compliment). Electra (hoping I spelled that correct) was our server and she was so kind! We ordered some beer right away (Shiner on tap - yeah!) and perused the menu. I had a craving for BBQ, so away we went. We started with the Brisket mini tacos and let me tell you - I want more, today, tomorrow, and always. YUMMY! Next up? We had supper at Fred Flintstone's home.. this platter that arrive with our half rack beef and half rack pork ribs was bigger than half of my body. Sides of potato salad and garlic mashed rounded out the massive plate. The two sauces, one for each type were so mmmmm. The messiness of the ribs was all over my face as I chowed down. I normally don't look for BBQ when I'm in the land of enchantment, but decided to stop in. It's location near the Sandia tramway is very nice to begin with. The outside seems a little run down and the interior also felt somewhat outdated. As far as the food goes it was BBQ with some southwest flair. I was able to get a green Chile stuffed pork loin in sandwich form and that's something I have never seen! It was good flavor with some decent heat from the green Chile. I was able to wash it down with some sweet tea. The food came out quickly which is always a plus. Overall if you "really" need some barbecue than county line may be a good option. If not I would look to find some other establishments. read more

This is my first visit to this establishment. My main reason for going was to listen to the live music performance by Michael Bach, whose show was entitled Bach Plays Dead. He does acoustic renditions of contemporary pop, including songs by the Grateful Dead. In addition he did some renditions of very old folk tunes. He has entertaining patter, knows a lot of the audience members, and is very pleasant. Now to the food: I try to eat vegan as much as I possibly can, but how does one do that in a place that advertises delicious barbecued meat? I had a half a loaf of their freshly made bread, with a side of sautéed mushrooms. Accompanied by a couple of beers, it was a great meal. The ambience here is good, with a great view of the mountains. As I said another reviews, I like places the support live music. The entrance is not the worst off Tramway and the parking is accessible. The service was average to good but no refill on drinks. The view is one of the best in Albuquerque from a restaurant window. The real attraction is of course the barbecue. I had the rib platter and my wife had green chili stuffed pork loin and peppered turkey. Both selections were cooked to perfection and tender as can be. The sides were also top notch and prepared and presented well. Little wonder why this is and has been an Albuquerque institution for quite some time now. read more

NOT A GREAT PLACE FOR A FAMILY VISIT We have family that lives near this restaurant, so we thought that a little outing would be nice for our Thursday evening dinner. While I do have to commend any restaurant for supporting local bands, there was no place for a family dinner where we could hear each other. The restaurant was full of folks who did want to hear the band. Even though they were harried, they did try hard to accommodate us in the far corner of the bar (the band was in the main dining room. But, it was so loud, it was even difficult to order. What food items were great: the beans and the homemade bread. This brings up the issue that, on any given day, the mix of people in a restaurant is very diverse. In the case of The County Line, we learned that we will make a different choice on our next trip to Albuquerque. read more

My companion and I had the fine-print menus in our hands only a few seconds when our waitress arrived and impatiently asked for our orders. She was not at all interested in our questions. We are both silver-haired. She treated us as if we were confused. Her explanation of the menu was condescending. I suspect that she identified us as old! We selected our main dishes then asked how many sides were included. She replied "one" as if were supposed to know already. She offered us sweet tea or iced tea. We specified iced. When it arrived after 10 minutes it was sweet. We are diabetic. We waited more than thirty minutes for our food. It was finally delivered as we rose to leave. We sat back down. That was my first opportunity to ask that our tea be corrected. Another 10 minutes passed before the iced tea arrived. Our burgers were cold and dry. I suspect they had cooled while waiting for our waitress to get around to delivery. Neither of us finished ours. I generally pay with a credit card but I carry cash so that I can precisely control my tip when service is this bad. The bill came near to $40. I offered two twenty dollar bills and tipped $1.03 from the change. My companion used to live up the hill nearby. She had glowing memories of many visits over the years. She was embarrassed that she had suggested County Line for our lunch. read more

By brother for brisket tacos (6) a $9.99 value and I got 1/2 rack St. Louis ribs a $12.99 value for FREE with the check-in offer. Having recently spent a good deal of time between Tulsa, Memphis, and Kansas City... being a home smoker myself and eating low-carb... I do know a thing or two about good bbq... We both got the combos and tried turkey, Green hatch chili stuffed pork loin, and brisket. We both had side salads and Cole slaw which I was pleased to discover did not have a ton of sugar in it. Customer service was great, we started off with homemade bread and honey butter. Delicious!!!! Time to order, several people from our group wanted stuffed baked potatoes and were told they ran out. I ended up ordering the 2 meats and 2 sides. I had the brisket, sausage, macaroni and cheese with potato salad. The meat was bland but they provided bbq sauce and that helped tremendously. The sausage was pretty good. The macaroni and cheese was wet with not much taste, I was expecting something baked and more flavorful. I'd have to say Kraft Mac & Cheese would've been much better. The potato salad was tangy and also pretty bland. I looked around the table and noticed most people still had full plates. Only a couple of to-go containers were requested. Overall, I would not recommend this restaurant. There are far better bbq places, closer to the city that cost far less. read more

When did this place turn into Furrs cafeteria with small portions of green beans, mash potatoes, and individual (counted) pieces of meat. The sauce is unremarkable and the bread is doled out and stale. It used to be a great place to listen to up and coming country artist against the backdrop of the Sandia's until the residents got crabby!!! I visited The County Line on Saturday August 3rd for dinner. I was there by myself. The server was great and the food awesome. I was a little concerned when I walked in as the space is a little dark and worn, but the host immediately made me feel comfortable. I don't love eating out by myself by in this space I was more than comfortable. I had a gin and tonic with a nice pour and to eat the green chili stuffed peppered pork. Sone of the best barbecue I've eaten and I'm from Georgia. Sides were fried okra and a perfect baked potato. I wish this place was closer to home. Man. I wish this place wasn't far as it is from us, but we will definitely be back! We made a reservation for new years eve and have never been here so we didn't know what to expect! I've heard lots of good things about this place so we kinda had high expectations. We got there like 20 min before our "call wait list" reservation and they had said there might be a wait but there wasn't, even as busy as they were which was nice! We sat in one of the back rooms and had a wonderful server! She had so many tables and was getting it done! Such great service. We came in for a big family BBQ meal the day before Easter with... *GASP*... vegetarians in our party. Sounds impossible, right? They rocked it! The vegetarians loaded up on amazing salads and baked potatoes! The rest of us had ribs, all you can eat BBQ, beef kabobs, and all the sides! And... the ribs were so good that even the vegetarians tried them! If that's not a testimonial, I don't know what is!!!! Plus the service was AMAZING!
