We wanted to check out this local store. It's small but perfect for the small town of Banderas. The prices don't seem to be jacked up like other small town business does. The customer service was great. My daughter found a beautiful belt. They have awesome assortment of boots, jeans for women, men and kids. Belt buckles. They even reshape your cowboy hated for free. To the lady behind the counter: When my family walked in and you asked, "Why is everyone coming in here?" We went into the store to find kindness, exchange similes, look at hats and boots, and beat the heat. We didn't enjoy our time at the store. My sister felt so uncomfortable with your comment and preferred to stay outside. I hope you were having an off-day and are not always unpleasant to customers who walk into your store. Been to The Cowboy Store twice in the last few years. First time a friends wife bought some boots. This time we were visiting the area with the same friends and brought along more car club friends. We had just completed our Twisted Sisters run and instead of heading to the hotel decided to visit Bandera. Place isn't huge but has a nice selection of women's and men's clothes. Cowboy garb like Ariat, Stetson, and Wrangler. Boots from Roper, Justin, and Tony Lama. We shopped for a good 20-30 minutes but came up empty for this trip. Prices were on par with big city chains. No small town markup! Main reason for this review is we were just treated rather poorly just down the street at the local antique mall. The Cowboy Store..these folks are super friendly! I went out to find a buddy and was greeted twice; they are genuine and if I would have found something I wouldn't have hesitated to support this business. Cowboy up! You know this place is legit. This is THE cowboy store for THE Cowboy capital of the world. Yeehaw. You can't get any more country than this. Just standing on the street corner, we saw dozens of pickups drive by in one cycle of a stoplight. Going into the air conditioning of the Cowboy Store, I was taken aback at how well the place was stocked and organized! They had a wide, vast variety of cowboy hats to fit nearly every noggin. They had belt buckles bigger than dinner plates, with bulls on 'em and the Lone Star of Texas on others. The clerk was dressed to the nines in western wear, and was more than happy to help. Be sure to check out their cowboy boot selection here- they've got everything from the low end of cattle roping boots to the Lucchese, a super premium boot. I was pleased to see that the decor inside had George Strait posters. They do also have stuff for the cowgirls, which had more rhinestones than you'll ever imagine on it. I stopped by here last weekend. I really went in just to browse. I was assisted by Steve. He let me try on several pairs of boots. His knowledge is immeasureable. He showed me how to work a tight spot from the boots, explained the differences in soles and showed me how to remove scuffs. He is very patient, very professional and immensely insightful. He was an absolute joy to meet. I wanted to buy 2 pairs of boots but left with one. His knowledge and great personality were key factors in me buying my first pair of cowboy boots. The woman was incredibly helpful. I must have tried on 5-6 pairs of boots, but found a beautiful kids size for my feet. I was very happy because my boots had broken the day before when i was at a ranch there. THe 2 ladies both offered to help me. The boots I picked I fell in love with. I was going to give them a two because my first experience with the ladies who worked there when I bought the boots was great. They were very helpful the first time. However, after wearing my boots on three occasions (a house party, church, and Wurstfest), I noticed the stitching was starting to come undone. Because I'd paid almost three hundred dollars for them, I decided to see if I could exchange the boot for the same style and size because perhaps the pair I had gotten had a defect of some kind. I called ahead and a man answered. I told him that I'd bought the boots last week and "the stitching was falling apart". He asked me what the style was on the box and the size. I read off the information and asked if they had the right boot in the store and if it was possible to come and exchange them. He said yes and I replied saying, "Thank you, I'm on my way." Two hours later I got there and brought them in. I said I'd called and showed him the box and the man working there said that they didn't have that size and he remembered speaking with me on the phone but I never asked for the correct size and I was lying. My mom had also come with me and she was very annoyed with his attitude. She told him so and he proceeded to insult her. I pointed out that he was being awfully rude and we'd driven a distance to simply make an exchange. He then proceeds to tell me that I'd lied to him about the state of the boots and he was going to lie to the owners to help me because the boots "weren't falling apart" and I didn't need an exchange. I tried to explain why his understanding and comprehension of the situation was very incorrect and he accused me of screaming at him and pointing (I talk with my hands). He tried to mock both my mother and I when we said things were getting out of hand and asked if everyone could just start over. The man was incredibly rude and has some serious anger management issues. I will not be shopping at the Cowboy Store ever again because of his attitude problems. I really hope the owners don't keep him on the staff, he does not do their store's reputation any credit. read more
