My order consist of crab and corn chowder, tomato basil soup, crab cake sliders, crab grilled cheese and last but not least obviously delicious lobster roll. All dishes was made with love. Every dish came hot. The seasoning was just right. Nothing was salty, just seasoned to perfection. The lobster roll bread is toasted and gently brushed with garlic butter. The crab slider has chipotle mayo which gives the crab sliders a extra kick so to the slight heat. The Margarita is tart and the Pina colada is sweet but the mix together is great. My friend has been telling me about this place for over a year now. I finally got my chance to try this little piece of Heaven. I walked in and instantly wanted to order the whole menu, they have sauces galore too. (I love sauce) I ordered the crab taco ($6), lobster roll ($20), crab cake sliders ($15), crab mac ($14) and washed it down with a Corona. I couldn't choose between sauces, the lady helping me recommended the lemon aoli for the crab sliders. Boy was she right, all the flavors married together so well. Finally, I patron a Black business that actually opens on time, doesn't close early without notice, has a courteous staff, has a working phone and a working website. Initially, I was on my way to this other place listed on Yelp to see a totally closed place. I wasn't surprised as someone on Yelp raised the question if they were closed, but since the owner assured them they are open, I decided to make the trek there, but lo & behold, I see a completely closed building --- with no signage whatsoever! This is what I get for not going by their disconnected phone number & inactive website. But anyway, luckily Yelp pointed me to this place...Yes I went to a crab shack to have fish (hey, I wasn't in the mood for bottom feeders), but the food is good and so is the service. Yelp asked me to finish my review to let the community decide. So here I am telling you that if you are considering eating here, just DO it. But be prepared. You won't look at other lobster rolls the same. Every lobster roll after their lobster roll is subpar. The homemade lemonades and Arnold palmers are just the perfect way to cap off the meal. We went here after skating and thankfully, we got a seat because it became really packed after and there was a long line to get inside and people waiting to sit. They have outdoor seating available, maybe less than 10 tables. And they only let 4 people inside to order. We waited a little bit for a food but it definitely felt longer because we were so hungry. We got the crab roll and the lobster roll. Both tasted really good but make sure you ask for sauce because there wasn't much on the roll. They were both really great but I think the extra sauce would've added that extra kick! The corn bread was amazing! So moist! I definitely would get that again next time. For some reason my mother wanted to try this place after having it via a friend and takeout. There are three full tables to eat on with a seat for two at the counter, the layout could be better. The service was very questionable. In the middle of ordering we were told to make sure we put down the brown paper for our food. That information could have been given to us after we ordered, not in the middle. The tone was also very patronizing. I think the person ringing us up noticed the mess a table was making and felt the sudden urge to make sure we knew he was not planning on "cleaning up" after us. Also, we ended up eating at the window with very little ledge space, since ya know, theres nowhere to sit. While waiting for our food, there was staff eating right where we are suppose to pickup our food. As for food, I got the crab BLT and was not really impressed. I grew up in Massachusetts and crab in general is not our main go to like it would be in Maryland, so the crab roll from Crabby Shack is my first crab roll ever! I've read some of the reviews and I have to say, the people that are complaining about the lobster roll bun being a "hot dog bun" are clearly not people from New England. If they were from New England (home of the lobster roll) then they would know that the bun they were expecting is in fact a HOT DOG BUN! Lobster rolls in NE are served on the same split top/white bread sided buns we eat our hots dogs on. It's basically just a traditional NE hot dog bun! Also I saw a review claiming that the crab roll was imitation crab meat. We ordered the cornbread, clobster roll (crabmeat + lobster) crab mac n cheese, grilled cheese and crab, 1 lb of Alaskan crab legs, half lb of shrimp banana pudding and a couple of margaritas and everything was finger licking good!!! They have a gift of blending the right butter to garlic to seasoning ratio for the half lb shrimp. I love dipping the shrimp and crab back in the sauce after peeling it. That cornbread is a MUST!!!!! It's grilled with honey butter, crunchy on the outside and sweet buttery gooey on the inside. The clobster roll is genius and they're very generous with the lobster/crab portions. Both the grilled cheese with crab and the crab Mac n cheese will satisfy any cheese itch you could ever have! Overall, they are one of my favorite places for seafood. Undoubtedly, the Crabby Shack's seasoning is what makes this sandwiches standout. They pop with flavorful. However, the flavor does not overwhelm the seafood; it's simply a great compliment. I'd highly recommend the sandwich or one of their other rolls. I'm sure anything with they signature seasoning will be outstanding. We also had a side of mac n cheese which was delicious as well. The cheese sauce was flavorful and well apportioned. My girlfriend thought this was one of the top mac n cheeses that she has had. Since I moved into the area I've been wanting to try this place, I finally did and I was disappointed. I agree with a previous review about the lobster roll (which is what I had) - the hotdog bun had no butter nor was it toasted which made it soggy. The lobster didn't have butter either / it tasted dry with little flavor and a bit overcooked. The pricing is also a bit more expensive than Luke's Lobster but LL is way better. I also had the tomato basil soup and it was okay - just regular soup that you could get from a supermarket. Cons: Crab roll was so salty I couldn't finish it. Fried whiting had no seasoning/taste. Crab mac & cheese was lacking the crab and salty. The biggest turn off was the sly move of adding on a gratuity when checking out. The cashier quotes a price but you have to look before signing the iPad. Make sure you select no gratuity, especially if your order is to go. I don't want to leave a 15% tip and I'm not dining in! Even if I were dining in, they're not providing table service. You're handed food on a tray and you dispose of your own garbage. That doesn't warrant a gratuity. Greedy move. Well, a good friend of mine invited me to try this "seafood spot" in the neighborhood that he has become a regular at. Of course by now, you know what that "seafood" spot is called. After a few minutes of observing the menu and voyeuristically observing the finger lick - gum smacking delight of other diners, I decided to go for the gusto. I ordered one of their more pricey items (rightfully so) the crab legs. I'm not going to go on and on but what I can tell you is that I finished my well seasoned crab legs in record time. My friends and I enjoyed the food and drink selection so much, two of my friend ordered takeout. I was so taken in by the food, I imaged that the dessert must have been just as good. The one item they had was banana pudding (I suggested they add peach cobbler - lol - personal preference) I ordered the banana pudding and finished that in short order as well! The staff? Who can't love this place ? I order when I don't feel like taking a stroll to this place at least once a month . I'd literally come for the corn bread alone but I'm a lover of seafood and it's always well seasoned (spicy garlic butter is definitely love) I appreciate the vibe (always some soothing old school RNB or some eclectic mix of Erykah Badu, Jill Scott or Amy Whinehouse happening when I walk in) AND it's black owned ! Win win win ! Even the deliveries are pretty quick . Although they always say 30-40 mins they delivery guy usually gets to me before the 30 min mark . I ordered online and when I arrived at the restaurant to pick up my food , my order was ready for pick up. As for the sea food , it's top quality , fresh and even taste good if you are getting take out . The crabby shack is a small space but there designers found a way to optimize the space so that customers don't feel like they are sitting on top of each other as they eat. When I started getting crab legs from here they where so good, but sadly as of recently the quality has dropped. They come out super salty and this is with the butter on the side. Also for some reason they have been coming with less meat as well. Even the texture of the crab meat has been different. So thankful for a good small seafood joint in local BKLYN. I've been a customer of crabby shack for a few years now and they've only gotten better. I love the clobster roll and their shrimp tacos. The banana pudding is fire . The fried whiting is holy. I am very picking with fried fish. I truly enjoy theirs but recently noticed it is no longer available on the delivery app menu- barnacles. Still worth it, if you eat in or pick up. Their peel and smear shrimp is yummy and well seasoned. They're dining area isn't very large which is why we always order to go but they're usually very quick and it's a nice, casual time if you decide decide to dine in. Before you do come though keep in mind that lobster rolls are generally small portion and definitely at a price point btw $27-$40. At first glance, the place is small but plenty of seating outside and inside. I ended up ordering the 1/2 lobster 1/2 crab meat roll, chowder, banana pudding and ice tea. There was definitely more crab meat than lobster and I was about to complain but the crab itself was delicious! Now the only thing stopping this place from a 5 star is definitely the bun. I would prefer a toastier more buttery roll! This one seems to shrink and ends up soggy. If they would change this, this place would definitely rank in my top 5. Everything was delicious and even though I prefer a clam chowder, this version is not too bad either. I finished the meal with a banana pudding and it was just the perfect ending.
